    3. SMITH L.J. Smith, 61, of Oneida, passed away September 14, 2003, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Born in Scott County, September 10, 1942, he was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Bertha Hammock Smith; his wife, Lois Ann Vanover Smith; three brothers, James, Sam, and Oscar Smith; and one sister, Anna Mae Smith. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by two sons: Junior Smith and wife, Pamela; and Jimmy Smith, all of Oneida; two grandchildren, one sister, Rosa Lee Phillips of Oneida, several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives. Funeral service was to have been conducted September 17, at 3 p.m., in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Jeremy Burke officiating. Music was to have been provided by the Thomas Family. Interment was to have followed in the L.J. Smith Cemetery. Jones & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
