>From the Knoxville News Sentinel 4 Sep 2003 BLAND, NANCY JOSEPHINE WYKLE - age 67, of Oak Ridge, DUNCAN, SPICEY DAUGHERTY - age 88, Oliver Springs, HUDDLESTON, VIOLET - age 79 of LaFollette, =========================================== BLAND, NANCY JOSEPHINE WYKLE - age 67, of Oak Ridge, went home to heaven, Friday, August 29, 2003, after surviving cancer for 7 years. Born in Greene County, Tenn., Nancy Jo was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oak Ridge. She loved bird watching, nature, traveling, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Hubert Douglas Wykle. Survivors include her husband, Bill Bland; children, Leslie Jo Webb and husband, Mark, Dana Burton, and Doug Bland and wife, Sandy; her mother, Marion Cornelius Simpson; three grandchildren, Ryan Burton, Aaron Mays and Josie Bland. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, September 4, 2003, at 3:00 p.m., in the chapel of St. Mary's Residential Hospice with Rev. John Shaw officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Covenant Home Care and Hospice, 700 S. Illinois Avenue, Suite A-202, Oak Ridge, TN 37830, or St. Mary's Residential Hospice, 7447 Andersonville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37938. DUNCAN, SPICEY DAUGHERTY - age 88, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2003 at NHC of Oak Ridge. Mrs. Duncan was the last charter member of Big Mountain Baptist Church. She was a faithful church member, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Spicey was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ella Seiber Daughterty; by her husband, Owen Walter Duncan; by two daughters, Louvena Duncan and Dellene Duncan Russell; by four sisters, Dovie Bunch, Dessie Hammonds, Leova Jones, and Naomi Whitlow; and by two brothers, Julian Daugherty and Elmer Daugherty. Survivors: sons, Owen Edward Duncan and wife, Marilyn of Clinton, Rev. Harold Duncan and wife, Anita of Oliver Springs; grandchildren, Cathy Jones, Eddie Duncan, Becky Copeland, Sheila Maples, and Patty Baldwin; 10 great grandchildren and a host of friends and loved ones; sister, Allene Massengale of Clinton. The family will receive friends Friday, September 5, 2003 between the hours of 6-9 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 6, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Big Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Don Ambrose and Rev. Joey Cagley officiating. Burial will follow at Lively Cemetery. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. HUDDLESTON, VIOLET - age 79 of LaFollette, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. She was a member of the First Independence Baptist Church. Mrs. Huddleston was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed visiting all whom she cared about. She was preceded in death by husband, Raymond Huddleston; son, James Huddleston; parents, Joe W. and Bessie Parrott May; brothers, Harold and Carl May. Mrs. Huddleston is survived by sons, Raymond Earl, Roger Lynn, Gary Lee (Chuck) Huddleston all of LaFollette, Jerry Wayne Huddleston of White Oak; daughter and son in law, Janice Sue William Nelson; daughters, Kathy Jean Huddleston all of LaFollette, Tomie Faye Lancaster of Dayton, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; and 8 great step grandchildren; brother, Willis May of Middlesboro; sisters, Loretta Brown of Monroe, Mich., Myrtle Wilson of Cumberland Gap, Lorene Bell of Middlesboro, Betty Petree of Clairfield; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Evangelist Ed King and Rev. Arvil Petree officiating Interment will be 11 a.m. Friday in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday before the funeral services.
