    2. >From the Knoxville News Sentinel 15 Nov 2003 CARR, TANSY CURTIS - age 89, of LaFollette, JOHNSON, MURIEL ROSE ENGLE - age 73, of Clinton, LADD, ALBERT BLY - 90 of Bristol, Virginia, MYERS, MARY IRENE - of Oak Ridge PRESTON, HATTIE VICTORIA CAIN - age 59, of Clinton, WARREN, PAUL E. - age 85 of North Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of LaFollette, ========================================= CARR, TANSY CURTIS - age 89, of LaFollette, departed this earth on Friday, November 14, 2003 to be in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a member of Fincastle United Methodist Church where he served as Trustee in the early days of the church. He was a Campbell County native and attended 5 schools to achieve his education: Speedwell Academy, Flat Hollow, Bolinger, Well Springs and LaFollette. He held in high regard his horse "Bill" which he rode to school. He founded Carr Equipment Company, a dealership for GMC Trucks, Massey Ferguson Tractors and New Holland Farm Machinery. He was a former member of Campbell County School Board of Education and owned and operated Campbell County school buses. He enjoyed investing in land and real estate and loved spending his winters in the warm sunshine of Naples, Florida, which he said, "is better than a doctor bill." He was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie McCarty Carr; father, Charlie Columbus Carr; brothers, Earl C. Carr and Delmar M. Carr. Survivors: wife, Jeanette Carr; daughters, Carolyn Fay Moneyhun and Rebeccca Lynn Kirklin; sons-in-law, Frank Moneyhun and Luke Kirklin. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2003 with funeral services to follow at Fincastle United Methodist Church, Rev. Kevin Cole and Rev. Danny Hensley officiating. Pallbearers will be David Carr, Phillip Carr, Gene Carr, Matthew Carr, Andy Carr, David Linkous, Aaron Carr, Jack McMahan, James Allen Hatmaker and David Johnson. Burial and graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 17, 2003 at Fincastle Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Memorial Fund at Fincastle United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Cross Funeral Home. JOHNSON, MURIEL ROSE ENGLE - age 73, of Clinton, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2003 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Clinton. Preceded in death by parents, Oscar B. and Sarah Bessie Terrell Engle; husband, Byron Trent Johnson, Sr.; sisters, Beulah Hill and Althaire Grant; brothers, Leffel and William Engle. She was born November 16, 1929. Survivors: daughter, Linda Sue and husband, Curt Lane, of Powell; sons, Byron Trent, Jr. and wife, Brenda Johnson, of Denver, CO, James D. and wife, Nancy Johnson, of Yukon, OK, Andrew Birch and wife, Diane Johnson, of Alabaster, AL; grandchildren, Chris and wife, Barbara Lane, of Richmond, VA, Amy and husband, Mark Germano, of Richmond Hill, VA, Jodee and husband, Rodofo Molino, of Houston, Texas, Mindy and husband, John Pittman, of Dallas, Texas, Rebecca Sue Johnson of Yukon, OK, Drew Patrick Johnson of Alabaster, AL, Kathryn Elizabeth Johnson of Alabaster, AL, Kendall Muriel Johnson of Denver, CO and Byron Trent Johnson, III of Denver, CO; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Oliver Lane of Richmond, VA; sisters, Melva Lane of Lexington, KY and Opal Taylor of Barboursville, KY; brother, Birchel Engle of Woodbine, KY; several nieces and nephews. LADD, ALBERT BLY - 90 of Bristol, Virginia, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2003 at Bristol Nursing Home. He was born in Oliver Springs, Tenn., a son of the late Franklin Louis and Martha Elizabeth Ladd. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Duggins Ladd. Mr. Ladd was a former TVA employee, served as the first City Judge for the town of Norris, Tenn., operated Norris Boat Dock and held the position of Purchasing Agent for Anderson County, Tenn. until his retirement in 1978. He is survived by his son, Judge Richard E. Ladd, and his wife, Isabelle of Bristol, Tenn.; two grandsons, Richard E. Ladd, Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Abingdon, Va. and Michael R. Ladd of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; his great grandson, Evan Ladd; a brother in law and sister in law, Dr. and Mrs. Joseph H. Duggins and another sister in law, Mrs. Robert L. Duggins ad several nieces and nephews. A private service will be conducted at Norris Memorial Gardens in Norris, Tenn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Norris Tree Commission, c/o City Manager, Norris, Tenn. 37828. Mr. Ladd and his family are in the care of Oakley-Cook Funeral Home and Crematory. MYERS, MARY IRENE - of Oak Ridge died Friday, November 14, 2003 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. She was born in Potts Camp, Mississippi to Marvin Tucker and Salina Taylor Tucker. Mrs. Myers' love and greatest hobby was working in her yard and flowers. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. Mrs. Myers was preceded in death by her second husband John Anthony Myers in 1993. She is survived by two sons: John Shumpert of Oak Ridge and Jack Shumpert of Atlanta, GA; two daughters: Jeanette Miller of Oak Ridge and Betty Witt of Fairfield Glades, TN; a stepson: Richard Myers of Lexington, KY; and eleven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 16, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary with Mrs. Cita Strunk and Rev. Bob Gray officiating. The interment will follow the funeral service at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Weatherford Mortuary is in charge. WARREN, PAUL E. - age 85 of North Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of LaFollette, passed away early Friday morning November 14, 2003 in Ft. Myers. Mr. Warren moved to Ft. Myers in August 2003. He was a member of LaFollette First Baptist and attended New Hope Baptist in Ft. Myers. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. Survivors: wife, Maxine; son, Rev. Harry P. (B.J) Warren of Hartwell, Ga.; daughter, Paula W. Fultz of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Tony Fultz, Tracey Anderson, Tara Neely, Jeremy Warren and Stephanie Little; great grandchildren, Katelyn, Alex and Ashleigh Anderson, Tyler and Taryn Neely and Brandon and Austin Fultz. Funeral service 3 p.m. Sunday November 16, 2003 at LaFollette First Baptist, Rev. Bob Brown officiating. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 1:30-3 p.m. Sunday prior to service.
