>From The Knoxville News Sentinel 26 Nov 2003 BUTCHER, LINDA JANE - age 96 of LaFollette, BYRD, CARLOS "CARL" JACK - age 80 of Clinton, Tenn., BUTCHER, LINDA JANE - age 96 of LaFollette, CARR, TANSY CURTIS - age 89, of LaFollette, TERRY, VIVA ALMA - age 100 of Winfield, Tennessee, WARREN, PAUL E. - age 85 of North Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of LaFollette, ========================================= BYRD, CARLOS "CARL" JACK - age 80 of Clinton, Tenn., passed away on Friday, November 14, 2003 at the Windwood Health Care Center in Clinton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Mae Byrd and son, Carlos Jack Byrd, Jr. Survivors: son & daughter in law, Kenneth & Susan Byrd of Clinton, Tenn.; granddaughter, Mariah Byrd of Clinton, Tenn.; several nieces & nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held on Sunday November 16 at 3:30 p.m. at the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton with Rev. Tony McAfee and Father Gerard Finucane officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Genesis Recovery Center in Lake City Tenn. Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton in charge of all arrangements. BUTCHER, LINDA JANE - age 96 of LaFollette, the oldest of six generations passed away Friday November 14, 2003 at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was the oldest member of the First Independent Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by husband, Theodore Thomas Butcher; 2 grandsons, Douglas Butcher and Robert Rogers; parents, James and Ella Miller Day; brother, William Sherman Day; sisters, Lizzie Grace Hembree and Opal Day. Mrs. Butcher is survived by sons, Curtis Finley Butcher of Mo., James Brownlow Butcher of IL.; daughters, Mabel Arlene Rogers, Mary Frances Broyles and Wanda Fay Siler Mattie all of LaFollette; 17 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; 1 great-great- great grandchild; half brothers, James Lee Day of Morristown, Tenn., Bobby Gene Day; half sister, Mary Lena Sweat both of LaFollette and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Sunday at the First Independent Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Edwards and Rev. David Hicks officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m. Monday in Woodlawn Cemetery. CARR, TANSY CURTIS - age 89, of LaFollette, departed this earth on Friday, November 14, 2003 to be in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a member of Fincastle United Methodist Church where he served as Trustee in the early days of the church. He was a Campbell County native and attended 5 schools to achieve his education: Speedwell Academy, Flat Hollow, Bolinger, Well Springs and LaFollette. He held in high regard his horse "Bill" which he rode to school. He founded Carr Equipment Company, a dealership for GMC Trucks, Massey Ferguson Tractors and New Holland Farm Machinery. He was a former member of Campbell County School Board of Education and owned and operated Campbell County school buses. He enjoyed investing in land and real estate and loved spending his winters in the warm sunshine of Naples, Florida, which he said, "is better than a doctor bill." He was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie McCarty Carr; father, Charlie Columbus Carr; brothers, Earl C. Carr and Delmar M. Carr. Survivors: wife, Jeanette Carr; daughters, Carolyn Fay Moneyhun and Rebeccca Carr Kirklin; sons-in-law, Frank Moneyhun and Luke Kirklin. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2003 with funeral services to follow at Fincastle United Methodist Church, Rev. Kevin Cole and Rev. Danny Hensley officiating. Pallbearers will be David Carr, Phillip Carr, Gene Carr, Matthew Carr, Andy Carr, David Linkous, Aaron Carr, Jack McMahan, James Allen Hatmaker and David Johnson. Arrangements by Cross Funeral Home. TERRY, VIVA ALMA - age 100 of Winfield, Tennessee, passed away Friday, November 14, 2003 at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. Born in Scott County August 7, 1903, she was the daughter of the late Ottis and Serrptia Sharp. She was a member of the Winfield Baptist Church serving as Sunday school teacher and secretary. She was a school teacher at Norma, South Fork, Clay Hill, Nicks Creek and Windirled all in Scott County. Her special interests in life include her music, organ, piano, flute, and harmonica, gardening, and quilting with her friends of Senior Citizens. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband Maynard Terry; daughter Delores Terry Roark; sisters Ada Anderson and Flossie Marcum; brothers Winfred Sharp, Leslie Sharp, and Leroy Sharp; son-in-law Eugene Mynatt. She is survived by daughters, Alma Terry Mynatt of Chattanooga, TN, Lovenia Terry Edde and husband Uriel of Rutledge, TN; one sister Cleo Sharp Ford of Birmingham, AL; son-in-law George Roark, Oneida, TN; grandchildren Dennis Mynatt, Chattanooga, TN, Alan Mynatt and wife, Peggy, Columbia S.C., Cynthia Humphries, and husband, David Foley AL., Uriel Edde, III and wife, Tammy, Rutledge, TN., Martha Adams, and husband, Pete Johnson City, TN., Terry Roark, and wife, Mary Ann, Onieda, Lisa Baggett, and husband, Ronnie Kingston, TN., Beverly Hicks, and husband, Trebby, Susan Overton, and husband, Anthony all of Oneida, TN.; great-grandchildren include: Amanda Mynatt, Logan Mynatt, Matthew Roark, Mark Roark; Lindsey, Lauren, & Rachael Baggett; Tonya Gebhart, and husband, Tommy, Misti Goode, and husand, Cornelius, Kristina, Jenna & Tanner Edde, Laura Elizabeth Adams; great-great grandchildren Zachary Gebhart; Ryan Gebhart; Heather Goode. WARREN, PAUL E. - age 85 of North Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of LaFollette, passed away early Friday morning November 14, 2003 in Ft. Myers. Mr. Warren moved to Ft. Myers in August 2003. He was a member of LaFollette First Baptist and attended New Hope Baptist in Ft. Myers. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. Survivors: wife, Maxine; son, Rev. Harry P. (B.J) Warren of Hartwell, Ga.; daughter, Paula W.
