>From the Oak Ridger 12 Nov 2003 Bertha Mae Vickery Duncan, 79, of the Dutch Valley community in Clinton, Jeffrey Mauro Cusatis, 40, of Oak Ridge, Murrell Vaughn Dunn, 61, of Oak Ridge, Gerald "Jerry" Hutton, 59, a longtime resident of Oak Ridge, ========================================= Bertha Mae Vickery Duncan, 79, of the Dutch Valley community in Clinton, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, after a lengthy illness. She was the daughter of the Rev. John Vickery and Etta Monday Vickery. She was a member of Batley Baptist Church, but attended Poplar Creek Baptist Church when her health permitted. Mrs. Duncan met Roy "Gene" Duncan Sr. at an old timey pie supper when he purchased one of her pies. They were married in 1945. Her family said they enjoyed almost 55 years together before he died in May 2000. According to her family, Mrs. Duncan enjoyed sewing, crafts, flowers and her family. She was a Christian and her family said her life reflected such as she loved to help those in need in and around her community. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Lawrence Vickery, William Vickery, Alvin Vickery and Leonard Vickery, and by a sister, Josephine Whiteaker. Mrs. Duncan is survived by eight children, Sandra Cranmore and husband, Rusty, Daniel Duncan, Roy Duncan Jr., and David Duncan and wife, Vickie, all of Clinton; Sally Bozarth and Stan Duncan, both of St. Petersburg, Fla., Lana Morrison of Harriman, and Johnnie Duncan and wife, Selina, of Oliver Springs; 10 grandchildren, Sandra Lee Duncan, Karen Brown, Eva Crass, Christopher Duncan, Jerline Letsinger, Angel Ladd, Crystal Rudd, Candy Morrison, Jessica Bozarth and Jared Cranmore; and by nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Earl Vickery of Oliver Springs, and Roy Vickery and wife, Wilma Jean, of Clinton; a sister, Isabell Jones and husband, Marshall, of Clinton; a sister-in-law, Polly Vickery of Clinton; a brother-in-law, Herman Whiteaker of Michigan; and by several nieces and nephews. Patti Virnelson and Edith Hayes are considered special friends and wonderful caregivers. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, in the chapel of Oliver Springs Mortuary. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at Dutch Valley United Methodist Church cemetery with the Rev. Bill Dawson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Jeffrey Mauro Cusatis, 40, of Oak Ridge, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at Scott County Hospital in Oneida. Born June 16, 1963, in San Diego, Calif., he was the son of Wilma Cusatis of Knoxville and Albert M. Cusatis, who is now deceased. Mr. Cusatis lived in Pennsylvania most of his life moving to Oak Ridge in 2000. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was employed at Senior Flexonics in Oak Ridge as a machinist planner. His two brothers, Allen Cusatis and Michael Bucklen, also died earlier. In addition to his mother, Mr. Cusatis is survived by his son, Bryan Cusatis of Tunkhannock, Pa.; three sisters, Valerie Cusatis of Baltimore, Md., Susan Thompson of Oak Ridge, and Theresa Ashley of Coalfield; a brother, Albert Cusatis of Powell; and by his fiancé, Michele Chopko of Oak Ridge. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at Harding-Litwin Funeral Home in Tuckhannock. Burial will follow at Saint Patricks Cemetery in White Haven, Pa. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at the funeral home. Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is in charge of local arrangements. Murrell Vaughn Dunn, 61, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at his home. Born July 17, 1942, in Maryville, he was the son of Heiskel Hobart Dunn and Minnie Ogle Dunn. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War era and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor of science in business administration. He retired in 1998 from Lockheed Martin Energy Systems, where he was an accountant. Mr. Dunn attended Central Baptist Church. He thoroughly enjoyed working with horses and was a member of the East Tennessee Riding Club. In earlier years, he also enjoyed coaching at the Boys Club of Oak Ridge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn. Mr. Dunn is survived by his wife of 36 years, Anita Simmons Dunn; his son, Troy Vaughn Dunn and wife, Alyn Lane Dunn, of Knoxville; his daughter, Tammy Michele Dunn, of Knoxville; two brothers, E.T. Dunn and wife, Maxine, of Rockford and Rex Dunn and wife, Brenda, of Maryville; and by a sister, Clara Lee Dunn of Maryville. His family said he will be remembered by many special friends at the East Tennessee Riding Club. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Robert Gray officiating. A private burial will be Thursday at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to Covenant Hospice, 700 S. Illinois Ave., Suite A-202, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Gerald "Jerry" Hutton, 59, a longtime resident of Oak Ridge, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, with his brothers and a sister-in-law with him. He was the son of Fred Charles Hutton and Mary Louise Burkhart Hutton, both now deceased. Mr. Hutton was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and he served for three years as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael Fred Hutton and James Lewis Hutton. Mr. Hutton is survived by four brothers, John Thomas Hutton and wife, Catherine Asmah Hutton, of Oak Ridge, Anthony Charles Hutton and wife, Judy McNamer Hutton, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Robert Edward Hutton and wife, Patricia Chapin Hutton, of Knoxville, and Philip Hutton and wife, Diane Glass Hutton, of Louisville; and by a sister-in-law, Margaret Elaine Manning Hutton of Madisonville. He is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews, Naomi Louise Ajiku Hutton Hickerson and husband, Shaun, and her son, Preston Alexander Hickerson, Rebekah Jane Odamea Hutton, Susanna Betty Anakwa Hutton, Carla Noel Hutton and husband, Dave Faris, Zachary Michael Hutton, Zoe Elaine Hutton, Robert Edward Hutton II, Jacob Eli Hutton, John William Hutton, James Louis Hutton and Charles Edward Hutton. His family said he will be deeply missed by all his family. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at Kingston Memorial Gardens.
