>From The Knoxville News Sentinel 30 Nov 2003 CREEKMORE, ATHALEE BROOKS - age 93 RITTENHOUSE, MAURICE - age 73 of Clinton, SCRABROUGH, LILLIAN MARIE BOLTON - age 95 of Briceville, Tenn. ========================================= CREEKMORE, ATHALEE BROOKS - age 93 and ten months, passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2003 at the home of her daughter. She was born in Lake City, (Coal Creek), Tenn., and prior to moving to Knoxville, was a longtime resident of Maryville and member of St. John's Methodist Church. She was of a sweet spirit and deeply appreciated to the very end the smallest kindness shown her. She was truly a dear, enduring, praying woman with a sweet smile who will be sorely missed but will remain in our hearts always. Preceded in death by parents, Charles R. and Willie Brock Brooks; brother, Charles R. Brooks, Jr.; sisters, Billee Brooks Lunsford; husband, Raymond E. Creekmore; special brother in law, A.C. Lunsford. Survivors: sons and daughters in law, Robert R. and Barbara Baker of Pine Mountain, Ga., Ray W. and Rose Anne Creekmore of Knoxville; daughter, Doris Creekmore Solomon of Knoxville; grandchildren and spouses, Valerie Baker Jones and Bruce Jones of Fortson, Ga., Rich A. Creekmore and Rena Creekmore of Maryville; great grandsons, Aric and Wesley Jones of Fortson, Ga. and Ryan and Riley Creekmore of Maryville; niece and husband, Bobbie B. and William Laugherty, Sr.; nephews and wives, Larry and Barbara Brooks, Charles and Dr. Margaret Brooks; great nieces and nephews and special friends, Mack Williams and Robert and Dorothy Curtis of Knoxville. The family would like to express their appreciation to Rev. Eldon A. Moore, family friend for 40 years, for his loyal encouragement; to all who have offered thoughts and prayers; to Cove nant Home Care and Covenant Hospice, especially Brandy, Krista, Harriet and Murel. Mrs. Creekmore's daughter would like to acknowledge her gratitude to God for the privilege of being her mother's caregiver and to Dr. Alan Solomon. He was an active member at Freeway Church of God. He was a retired truck driver, working primarily for AJ Metler & Colonial & was a member of Teamsters Local #519. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Preceded in death by parents, Alfonzo & Catherine Bennett Rittenhouse; brother Hoyit Rittenhouse. Born January 19, 1930 in Anderson County. Survivors: wife of 50 years, Vera Ruth Rittenhouse of Clinton; daughters, Connie Reeves & husband, Carl of Clinton, Joyce Lassiter of Kingston, Leisa Flora & husband, John of Oak Ridge; sons, Ray Rittenhouse & wife, Tami of Clarksville, Gene Rittenhouse of the home, Clinton; 9 grandchildren, Travis, Brandley, Michael, Adam, Alana, William, Jacob, Andrew & Megan; sister, Margie McNeely of Clinton; sister in law, Betty Rittenhouse of W. Va.; aunt, Mollie Powell of Clinton; several nieces, nephews, cousins & special friends. he loved life, his family, friends & church were very special to him. He especially enjoyed the friendship of his trading buddies. He will be sadly missed by many. SCRABROUGH, LILLIAN MARIE BOLTON - age 95 of Briceville, Tenn., went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 28, 2003 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Granny Lill as she was affectionately known, love to fish, quilt and garden and enjoyed bingo and baseball games in her later years. She was a member of Tennessee Hollow Baptist Church in Briceville. She was preceded in death by husband, Albert (Jack) Scrabrough; son, Ralph (Stud) Scrabrough; parents, Luther & Dora Bolton; sons in law, Jimmie Ray White and Shelby Fateley. Survivors: daughters, Sug and husband, Midge Jones, Briceville, Darelene (Puncie) Fateley, Longfield, Tenn., Carolyn White, Frateville, Tenn., Jeannie and husband, Micky Massengill, Lake City; son, Jackie Scrabrough, Briceville; sisters, Bonnie Boots Bolton, Ky., Jannie Vowell, Lake City; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Sunday November 30, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. John Owens & Rev. Archie Seiber officiating. Interment will be 1 p.m. on Monday December 1, 2003 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake City.
