    3. Cheryl Rebecca Fuson, 42, Corbin, Ky, formerly of Jellico, died Saturday, November 1, 2003 at Baptist Regional Medical Center, Corbin. She was born October 14, 1961 in Jellico. Cheryl is preceded in death by her father, Audrey L. McNealy; sister, Rita Pauline McNealy. She is survived by her mother and step-father, Jetta and Marvin Blankenship, Jellico; two sons, Kevin Bryan Lay, Corbin, Ky, Jason Lay, Jellico; three grandchildren, Julynn Brianna Lay, Jade Medan Lay, Brevin Ryne Lay; two brother, Benny McNealy, Jellico, Lonnie McNealy, Fl; very close friend, Mark Andrews, Corbin, Ky. Funeral services were Wednesday, November 5 at the Cox and Son Chapel with Reverends Jerome Walden and Ray Landes officiating. Interment was in the Hackler Cemetery. Martha Elizabeth Perkins Vann, 94, Williamsburg, Ky, died Friday, October 31, 2003 at the family residence. She was born October 20, 1909 at High Cliff, the daughter of the late William Riley Perkins and Nannie Alice Tidwell Perkins. Martha is preceded in death by her parents, James S. Vann; five brother and two sisters. She is survived by her son, James Jerry Vann and wife, Claren, Petersburg, Mi; daughters, Anna Mae Faulkner, Lambertville, Mi, Alice Fay Tye and husband, Clarence, Toledo, Oh, Mabel Ellen Duncan, Oregon, Oh, Mildred Rose, Williamsburg, Ky; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Kidd, Knoxville. Funeral services were Monday, November 3 at the Cox and Son Chapel with Rev. Horace Partin officiating. Interment followed in the Lot Cemetery, Lot, Ky. William Jennings Baird, 69, Greeneville, formerly of Pioneer, died Tuesday, October 28, 2003 at Takoma Adventist Hospital in Greeneville. He is preceded in death by his parents, D. W. Baird and Laura Johnson Baird; sister, Sallie Baird Bolton; nephews, Clifford Bolton. William is survived by brother, Carl W. Baird and wife, Bessie, Pioneer; niece, Carla Baird Marcum; nephews, Carl Steven Baird, John Michael Pyles, Roy Bolton and Jimmy Bolton; great nieces, Sallie B. Elliott and Ann Leach; great nephews, Joseph Baird Marcum, Matthew Thomas Pyles, Johnathon Cory Pyles, Scott Bunch, Justin Bolton and Tom Ridenour. Llewellynn Funeral Home of Jellico was in charge of the arrangements. Lawrence John (Larry) Proffitt, Jr., 45, Jellico, died Monday, October 27, 2003 at the family residence. He was born November 10, 1957 in Jellico and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by a brother, Warren Jeffery Proffitt. Larry is survived by his parents, Lawrence and Jean Proffitt, Jellico; daughter, Chelsia Marie Proffitt, Granada Hill, Ca; brother, Stuart Anthony Proffitt; sisters, Cynthia Diane Proffitt, both of Jellico, Vera Lynn Proffitt and Lee Ellen Prater, both of Knoxville; 13 nieces and nephews; one great-niece and two great nephews. Funeral services were Thursday, October 30 at the Cox and Son Chapel with Reverends Jerome Walden and Ray Landes officiating. Interment was Friday, October 31 in the Jellico cemetery. LaVern Davis Atchley, Crossville, formerly of Corryton, died Monday, October 27, 2003 at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville. Mrs. Atchley was born and raised in LaFollette and was a member of the first graduating class of the University of Tennessee Nursing School in 1957. She retired from St. Mary's Medical Center and moved to Lake Tansi in 1995. Her life was spent caring for others, and no where was this more apparent than in the love and support she gave to her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt and nana touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She is preceded in death by her mother, Daisy Nella Noe Davis; father, Edgar Davis; son, Jeffrey Ross Atchley; sister, Ethel Vann, and brothers, Clifford Davis, William Davis, Charles (Joe) Davis, and John L. Davis. LaVern is survived by her husband, Billy Ross Atchley, Crossville; daughter and son-in-law, Tamalynn and Johnny Sowders, Knoxville; daughters, Lisa Atchley, Crossville, Elizabeth Atchley, Knoxville; grandchildren, Daniel Anjolyn Sowders, Jonathan Ross Sowders, LaNella Kathleen Atchley; sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Charles Byrge, Crossville; sisters, Mary Proctor, Norwalk, Oh; brother and sister-in-law, Jesse and Addie Davis, Feather Falls, Ca.; brother, Bobby Davis, El Paso, Tx; several nieces, nephews, other relatives friends. The family received friends Wednesday before the services at Walters Funeral Home. Virginia Lee Bunch, 69, Flintstone, died Sunday, October 26, 2003. She was a native of Caryville and had lived in Flintstone since 1983. She was a member of Flintstone Baptist Church and very active in the W.M.U. She was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Mae Smiddy and brothers, Kyle and Jim Smiddy. Virginia is survived by her husband, Odell Bunch; daughter, Katie Wilks, Flintstone; sons, Tommy Bunch, Chuck Bunch, both of Rossville; father, Clarence Smiddy, Oh; sisters, Annes Griffith, Patsey Kees, both of Oh; brothers, Rhea Smiddy, Tx, Tom Smiddy, Minn., Walter Smiddy, Md; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services were held Wednesday, October 29 at the South Crest Chapel with Reverends Mark Harrison and Brent Smith officiating. Burial followed in Lakewood South Memory Gardens. Mildred Clarke, 84, LaFollette, died Sunday, November 2, 2003 at St. Mary's Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was a graduate and school nurse for several years at Practical Bible College, Binghamton, NY. In 1959 she became a missionary in the Cumberland Mountains in Tennessee under the American Missionary Fellowship. She taught Bible classes in the schools of Scott and Campbell County, helped organize Sunday Schools, taught Vacation Bible Schools, cooked, and worked at Camp Galilee during camping season for 30 years. Upon retirement from AMF she joined Cedar Hill Baptist Church where she taught "Walk in the Word" on Thursday mornings. She is survived by one sister, Elsie Smith, Liverpool, NY; sister-in-law, June Clarke, Port Ritchie, Fl, many nephews and nieces, and co-worker for 45 years, Betty Glover, LaFollette; several other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Tuesday, November 4 at Walter Chapel with Reverends Ronnie Arnold and Ron Hoffman. Interment was Wednesday, November 5 at Bakers Forge Cemetery. He was a member of the Cane Gap Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joann Cornett; parents, Walter and Halie Cornett; brother, Charles Leon Cornett. Gary Douglas, 55, Speedwell, died Friday, October 31, 2003 at the Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was born January 29, 1948 at Pineville, Ky. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Floyd W. Douglas; grandson, Michael Mason Douglas. She was a member of Lake City Church of Christ. Michelle was a loving mother, daughter and sister who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by a special friend, Todd Shown; son, Timothy Brown; daughter, Samantha Lee; parents, Phillip and Brenda Mefford, all of Caryville; brothers, George Mefford, Caryville, Hughie Lee, Harrogate and Eugene Lee, Nashville; ex-husband, Phillip Oakes, Jacksboro and a host of other relatives and friends. Madigan, 78, LaFollette, died Sunday October 26, 2003 at St. Mary's of Campbell County. Dora was a member of Black Diamond Baptist Church. She was a loving wife and a good Christian woman. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ned and Laura Baufle; brother, Richard "Dick"; sisters, Wig and Gladys Thomas. Dora is survived by her husband, John Madigan, LaFollette; sisters, Coug Vickers, Tullahoma and Vada Jones, Baton Rouge, La.; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Gertrude Noland, 88, died October 27, 2003 in Phoenix, Az. She was born January 9, 1915 in Manrun and grew up in Fincastle in the Powell Valley Community. She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She had lived with her daughter Jean in Arizona for three years. She is survived by her daughters, Jean Willoughby, Glendale, Az., Marcia Noland, Portland, Or. and Alicia McGinnis, Ontario, Canda.; sisters, Mildred Hasbrouk, Akron, Oh, Ethel Lambert, Bean Station and Alice Templeton, Cave Creek, Az.; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Janet Phillips Norris, 39, LaFollette, died Thursday, October 30, 2003 at her home. She was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Litton and Earlene Phillips. Tom Osborne Sr., 96, Pennington Gap, Va, died November 1, 2003 at Winwood Health Care Facility in Clinton. C., formerly of Jellico, died Friday, October 31, 2003 at Mattie C. Hall Health Care Center. She was born June 23, 1906 in Jellico, KY. She was the daughter of the late Silas M. and Sabra Price Siler and has the widow of William Elmer White. She lived in Jellico all her life before moving to Aiken in 1987. She was the former owner of White Grocery in Jellico. She was a member of Aikens First Baptist Church and Jellico First Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday school for 40 years. After moving to Aiken, the class was renamed in her honor. She was also a former member of the Jellico Garden Club. Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Robert Siler White and two grandchildren, Margaret A. Burney and Mark A Burney. She is survived by her daughters, Margaret White Burney, Aiken, S. C.; five grandchildren, William Robert White, Linda White Anderson, Thomas White, Debra White Allen and Michael A. Burney, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Monday, November 3 at the Llewellyn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Trent Stewert officiating. Burial in the Jellico Cemetery. Louise (Walden) Ryan, died October 10, 2003 in Cincinnati, Oh. She was a member of Floral Avenue Church of God for 38 years. She was a graduate of Wynn High School. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Rosie Walden; sister, Verna (Bruce) Thomas, and son, Herman Ryan. Louise is survived by her son, Buddy Ray Jr. and wife, Jenene, Austin, Tx; daughters, Reanee and husband, John Martin, Milford, Oh, Karen Brockoff, Delhi, Oh; brother, Bill Walden, Duff; sisters, Carolyn Wilson, Jacksboro and Venia Kirby, LaFollette; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Witt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Corene Vowell Stonecipher, 82, Briceville, died Tuesday, October 28, 2003 at the Lake City Health Care Center. She was born March 14, 1921 to the late Amos and Edith Roberts Vowell. She married Glen Stonecipher on September 2, 1939. Corene loved to cook and sew. She was a homemaker, housewife, best friend and companion to her husband of 64 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Briceville where she was an active member until her illness. Corene is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Helen Cox and Ruth Cogdill, daughter, Glenna Ruth Culver. She is survived by her husband, Glen Stonecipher; sons, V.L. Stonecipher and wife, Pat, Charles Stonecipher and wife, Wilma; daughters, Beverly Gray and husband, Donnie, Becky Stewart and husband David; grandchildren, Carrie Sellers and husband, Ronnie, Glen Culver and wife, Connie, Greg Culver and wife Joanie, Craig Culver and wife, Melissa and Jeff Culver and wife, Missy; other grandchildren, Eddie Culver, Kendra and James Gray, Brian and Jill Stewert, Will and Sarah Stonecipher, Jessica and Rachel Stonecipher and 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Daniels and husband, Clayton and one brother-in-law, Ralph "Boots" Stonecipher and wife, Gladys, plus a host of nieces and nephews. Teague, 67, Indianapolis, In. formerly of Jellico, died October 27, 2003. He was employed at WABCO where he worked 27 years as a machinist and foreman. He also worked for Bridgeport Brass and Napa Auto. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Judson and Belle Teague, White Oak. He is survived by his wife, Gail M. (Lamb) Teague; sons Carl Teague Jr. and wife, Patti, Daniel Teague and wife, Jerri; daughter, Mary and husband, Christian Ridenour; grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, John, Jessica, Matthew, Joshua and Allyson.
