>From The Oak Ridger 1 Oct 2003 Helen Frances Knight, 87, of Oak Ridge, Mary Ailene Lowe, 76, of Oak Ridge, Richard Donavan Corley, 52, of Knoxville, Bessie Lillian Anderson of Oak Ridge, Lillie "Lil" Neal, of Oak Ridge, ============================================ Helen Frances Knight, 87, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born July 6, 1916, in Hastings, Neb., and raised in Lincoln, Neb., she was the daughter Ray M. Leslie and Blanche Murphy Leslie. A graduate of the University of Nebraska, Mrs. Knight worked in the Nebraska public school system before moving to Oak Ridge in 1944 with her husband, Robert L. Knight, now deceased. She was a teacher of Latin and English at Oak Ridge High School from 1964 until her retirement in 1982. Mrs. Knight was a member of the First United Methodist Church from its founding until her death. She was also an active member of PEO, the 43 Club and the local Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. Knight is survived by three children, Donald R. Knight and wife, Marilyn, of Spartanburg, S.C., Thomas L.N. Knight and wife, Helen, of Chattanooga and Janice Knight Labig of Wilmette, Ill.; five grandchildren, Molly Knight, Tevis Knight, Cynthia Knight, Andrew Labig and Michael Labig; and by her cousin, George Murphy of Sacramento, Calif. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert T. Cantrell Jr. and the Rev. Bill Mooney officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Mary Ailene Lowe, 76, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003. She was the daughter of Oscar and Ruth Maner. Mrs. Lowe was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cleo Lowe. Mrs. Lowe is survived by her daughter, Brenda Lance, and husband, David, of Clinton; her son, Carl Lowe, and wife, Wanda, of Livingston; four grandchildren, Nikki Beth Lowe of Memphis, Michael E. Lowe of Mount Juliet, Jennifer R. Lance and Bobby Lance and wife, Kathy, all of Clinton; her great-grandson, Justin Wayne Lance; her great-granddaughter, Kaylee Nicole Lowe; and her sister, Geneva R. Ogle of Sevierville. The funeral will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, in the chapel of Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville with the Rev. Donnie Disney and the Rev. Steve Dawson officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, in Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Richard Donavan Corley, 52, of Knoxville, formerly of Chattanooga, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was the son of Eloise P. Corley and Thomas L. Corley, who is now deceased. Mr. Corley was a graduate of Brainerd High School in Chattanooga and he attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. His brother, Thomas L. Corley, also died earlier. In addition to his mother, Mr. Corley is survived by two brothers, Andrew P. Corley, and wife, Rosa, and Mark V. Corley; his sister, Christina C. Byrum, a nd husband, W. Todd; three nieces, Brooke Byrum, Allison C. Moe and Emily Corley; and by a grandniece, Sydney Moe. Services for Mr. Corley will be private. Cremation Options Inc. in Knoxville is in charge of arrangements. Bessie Lillian Anderson of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of arrangements, which were incomplete at press time. Lillie "Lil" Neal, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
