He is preceded in death by his wife, Clara; sons, Phillip Meadows, James Denny and Arthur Kenny. James is survived by his two daughters, Pernia Hatfield and husband, Carson, Joyce Justice and husband, Ronnie; three great-grandchildren, Carson Hatfield and wife, Donna, all of Jellico, Melissa Justice, Frankfort, Ky., Rhonda Cheel and husband, Robert, Frankfort, Ky; one great-granddaughter, Lauren Ashleigh Hatfield, Jellico, Elsie Burger, Sweetwater, Jewey Morgan, MI., Dora Shephard, LaFollette and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Sunday, October 19 at Highcliff Baptist Church with Reverends Raymond Parks and Leonard Siler officiating with Military Honors conducted by Campbell County Honor Guard. Burial was in Lot Cemetery. Harp Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Hazel Jeanette Allen, 80, Briceville, died Monday, October 20, 2003 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Briceville. Hazel was born August 12, 1923 in Anderson County. She worked at the Magnet Mills for many years in Clinton. Hazel also loved to sew and quilt. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Monroe and Victoria Pratt Allen; brothers, Carl, Bill and Earnest Allen; sister, Georgia Leach. Hazel is survived by her brother, Charles and wife, Nellie Allen, Knoxville; nephews, Terry Allen, Lake City, Tim and wife, Tina Allen, Clinton, Rick and wife, Teresa Allen, S.C., Tony Allen, Seymour, Travis Thrasher, Clinton; nieces, Nancy Thrasher, Lake City, Vickie and husband, Jimmy Marcus, CA., Janet and husband, Frank Longoria, Clinton, Kim and husband, Roger Gregg, Knoxville; sister-in-law, Mary Allen, Lake City; special friend, Kathy Cooper, Briceville and several other relatives and friends. Baird, 86, LaFollette, died Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at her home. She was a member of Stanfield Church of God. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers. Ellar had a very loving caring heart for all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Luther Baird; sons, Delmas and Carl Baird; parents, James and Ruthie Ayers; four brother and three sisters. Ellar is survived by her son, Don Baird, East Wenatchee, WA; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Juanita Baird, Clifford Glenn and Robin Baird, all of LaFollette; daughter, Clara Ayers, LaFollette; daughters and sons-in-law, Aileen and James Bruce of Peshastin, WA., Rose and Rev. Delmus Bruce, Pioneer, Sylvia "SIB" and Rev. Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Durella Mae Meyers Bratcher, 75, LaFollette, died Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at St. Mary's Resident Hospice, Knoxville. She was a member of the East LaFollette Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Meyers, and husband, Henry, (Red) Bratcher. Durella is survived by her son, Charles Bratcher, and wife, Susan, Anchorage, Al; daughters, Wanda Tackett and husband, Herbert, LaFollette, Linda Bratcher Whitfield and husband, Stuart; mother, Silva Meyers; brother, Donald Meyers; grandchildren, Kimberly Grahek and David Tackett. Funeral services are Thursday, October 23 at East LaFollette Baptist Church with Rev. Danny King officiating. Interment is Friday, October 24 at 11 a.m. at the Shelby Cemetery. Millard Dople, 84, London, KY, formerly of Elk Valley, died Monday, October 13, 2003 at Pineville Community Hospital, Pineville, KY. He was born August 23, 1919, at Jellico Creek, KY, the son of the late Charlie and Martha Reynolds Dople. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and was a member of Stanfill United Baptist Church. He was a member of Fincastle Church of God and a retired coal miner and a member of UMWA. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He also loved farming, hunting, and fishing. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Myrtle LeWallen Gibson. He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Mr. Kitts was former owner of K-Craft Boat Company in LaFollette and was presently employed by Triton Boat Company in Ashland City. He was of the Baptist Faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard A. and Maude Rutherford Kitts; brother, Tim Kitts. She was born November 15, 1925 in Oliver Springs. She was a lifelong resident of this area. She was a member of Beech Park Baptist Church. Mattie was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Lively; son, Daniel H. Lively; parents, Mitchell Buck and Ethel Key Buck; two brothers, Harlan and Glenn Buck; sister, Maxine Buck. Linda Stocks Loope, 51, Walden View community died Thursday, October 16, 2003 at her residence. She was born January 8, 1952 to the late Charles Hugh and Alice Phillips Stocks. Linda was a member of the Walden View Missionary Baptist Church. She loved listening to her son Allen sing, jeep riding in the mountains, singing in church, garage sales and spending time with her family whom she loved very much. Linda is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Houston Stocks; grandparents, Rev. L.C. and Haley Phillips. She is survived by her husband, Claude Loope; son, Allen Claude Hugh Loope and fiancé Tiffany Disney, all of Walden View Community; daughter/special niece, Lisa Burris; brother, Stanley Stocks, both of Clinton; sisters, Donna Daugherty, Betty Giles, both of Clinton, Doris Webber, Walden View Community; six nieces; four nephews and many, many friends. Donny Ray Moffett, 52, Jacksboro, died Thursday, October 16, 2003 at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. He was of the Baptist Faith. Donny was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Rhea (Bacon) Moffett and brother, Tommy Moffett. He is survived by his sisters, Jean Malicote, Frankie Monday and Anna Boshears, all of LaFollette; special niece, Tracey Hammond; nephews, Stacey and Tim Malicote and Doug Boshears; nieces, Becky Braden, Jill Howell, Rita Henson and Jennifer Newman; several great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Friday, October 17 at Cross Chapel with Reverends James Hammond and Donald Shoun officiating. Interment was Saturday, October 18 at Bakers Forge Cemetery. Arnold Wilbur Phipps, 56, Oliver Springs, died October 14, 2003 at his home. Mr. Phipps was a member of United Church of Compassion in Oliver Springs. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a postal supervisor for the United States Post Office. Arnold is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Phipps, Oliver Springs; parents, William and Hazel Phipps, Crumpler, N.C.; one son, Arnold Phipps Jr., Charlotte, N.C.; one daughter, Barbara Jeffreys, Mount Hope, Ala; two brothers, William Phipps, Powie, Ma, Paul Wesley Phipps, Crumpler, N.C.; one sister, Retta Phipps, Grassy Creek, N.C.; three grandchildren, Tabitha, Mack and Alex. Pierce, 72, Jacksboro, died Friday, October 17, 2003 at the St. Mary's Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of the LaFollette Church of God. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and loved her family very much. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Pierce; sons, Horace and Lawrence Edward Ayers; granddaughter, Anita K. Ayers; parents, Morrison and Magnolia Ayers; brother, James M. and sister, Martha Ayers. Ruby is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Hutchison; brother, J.C. Ayers, both of LaFollette; grandchildren, Stacy Toole, Bringhurst, Donnie and Ronnie Hutchison, Jacksboro; one great-grandchild, Kengan Riley Toole; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. She was a member of the Westside Baptist Church in Lake City. Violet was born July 21, 1918. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by all she left behind. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, James Robert Wildman; daughter, Darlene Wildman; granddaughters, Michelle Wildman, Sherie Maples; parents, Oscar and Blanch Cremeans; sister, Daisy Wheaton, Leona Taylor, and Dorothy Nelms.
