>From the Oak Ridger 3 Oct 2003 Katherine M. Jones, 73, of Harriman, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at Harriman Care and Rehab Center. Born Aug. 16, 1930, in Newport, she was the daughter of Earl Derry and Pearl Jenkins. Mrs. Jones lived in New York for nine years before moving back to the Oak Ridge area in 1942. She retired as a carrier in 1998 from The Oak Ridger. She was also employed as a waitress. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Pauline Derry; two half sisters, Mary Brown and Earline Derry; and by a half brother, Virgil "Bud" Derry. Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, William "Frank" Jones; her daughter, Emelia Harness and husband, Eddie, of Oliver Springs; her son, Franklin Jones Jr. and wife, Vickie, of Oliver Springs; four grandchildren, John Harness, David Jones, William Jones and Katherine Nicole Jones; a half sister, Katherine Cansler of Mohawk; and by several nieces, nephews and extended family members. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs. Burial will follow at New Fairview Cemetery in Oliver Springs.
