    2. >From The Oak Ridger 9 Apr 2003 Alice Faye Smith, 56, of Oliver Springs, Lester "Biggin" Cox, 64, of Clinton, Myrtle Jelf Mauncy, 85, of Oak Ridge, Marguerite Pierce Smith, 82, of Clinton, Lorie Johnson, 30, of Clinton, Subramanian Raman, 65, of Oak Ridge, ===================================== Alice Faye Smith, 56, of Oliver Springs, died Monday, April 7, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Nov. 29, 1946, in Anderson County, she was the daughter of Gracie Phillips Bunch of Briceville and Wayne Bunch, now deceased. A homemaker and lifelong resident of Anderson County, she was a member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Lawerence Seiber Jr., two brothers, William Edward Bunch and Roy Hobert Bunch, and by an uncle and aunt, Hobert Phillips and Bessie Phillips. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Scott Smith; her daughter, Tina Vanee Sammons and her husband, Terry, of Sunbright; four sons, Jimmy Ray Smith and his wife, Theresa, of Knoxville, Lawerence Seiber and his wife, Rhonda, of Clinton, and Leroy Seiber and his wife, Tammy, and Franklin John Seiber, all of Oliver Springs; and 11 grandchildren, Dewayne, Jason, Carrie, Ashley, Cody, Christopher, Paula, Drake, Kevin, Dylan and Kyler. She is also survived by four sisters and a brother, Anna Bell Braden, Nellie Phillips and Mary Elizabeth Randolph, all of Briceville, Ruby Jane Phillips of Clinton, and Charles Edmond Bunch of Harriman; aunts and uncles, Bonnie and Homer Breeden, Dollie and Hover Green and Maxine Phillips; and by several nieces and nephews. Jimmy Lee Seiber of Clinton is her former husband. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2003, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs. The Rev. Johnny Randolph and the Rev. Chester Keathley will officiate. Burial will follow at Brown Flatt cemetery in Briceville. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at the funeral home. Lester "Biggin" Cox, 64, of Clinton, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at his home. Born Oct. 4, 1938, in Anderson County, he was the son of Avie and Flossie Cox. Mr. Cox retired from Ball Co. and the Anderson County Highway Department. He was a member of Jarnigan Chapel Baptist Church in Clinton. According to his family, he had a very special love for his family and was devoted and supportive in anything his family would do. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Howard Cox and Hershel Cox. Mr. Cox is survived by his wife, Loretta Cox; two sons, James Cox and Steve Cox, both of Clinton; three brothers, Kenneth Cox, Chester "Red" Cox and Sherwood Cox, all of Clinton; his mother-in-law, Margie West of Clinton; and by six special grandchildren, a special great-grandchild, and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Jarnigan Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Joey Cagley officiating. The body will be at the church one hour before the funeral. Burial will be at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City. Myrtle Jelf Mauncy, 85, a resident of the Estates of Oak Ridge, died Monday, April 7, 2003, at her home. The middle child of William and Irene Jelf of Chattanooga, she was preceded in death by her older brother and younger sister, William and Mary Elizabeth. She was the widow of Thomas Henry Mauncy and was also preceded in death by her grandson, Brett Alan Mayes. Mrs. Mauncy had been a resident of Oak Ridge since 1946 but moved to Wooster, Ohio, six years ago because of her illness. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge and had attended the United Methodist Church in Wooster. According to her family, she loved Oak Ridge and appreciated its uniqueness. For many years, she was an administrative secretary in the principal's office at Oak Ridge High School, where she was blessed with many friends, whom she considered family. She loved life, family, friends, the mountains, a good joke and duplicate bridge, for which she earned a life master certification. She was a member of the Oak Ridge and Wooster Duplicate Bridge Associations. Mrs. Mauncy is survived by three daughters, Mary Mayes and her husband, Phillip, Kristen Clary and Sylvia Hurst; grandchildren, Ashley Long and her husband, David, Gretchen Hurst, Charles Clary, Preston Clary, Raven Clary, Austin Mayes and Scott Hurst; great-grandchildren, Taylor Long and Bradyn Long; and by several nieces and nephews. Roy Clary and Mike Hurst are her former sons-in-law. A service celebrating her life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2003, at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family asked that individual acts of kindness be given to any Alzheimer's sufferer, caregiver or hospice organization. Cremation Options Inc. in Knoxville is in charge of arrangements. Marguerite Pierce Smith, 82, of Clinton, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at the Windwood Health and Rehab Center in Clinton. She had worked as a nursing director at West Mall nursing home and Windwood, then known as Anderson County Health Care Center. She received her nursing degree from the University of Tennessee School of Nursing in Memphis and was a member of XI ALPHA MU Sorority for 25 years. Born March 4, 1921, in Clinton, she was the daughter of Harry and Hazel Pierce. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Clinton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Smith, a grandson, Thomas John "T.J." Smith, and a sister, Katherine Pierce Cornwell. Mrs. Smith is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Donna and Jeff Nolten of San Diego, Calif., and Victoria "Vickie" and J.L. Dickey of Harriman; two sons and their wives, Brent and Ann Smith of Nashville and Gregory "Greg" and Brenda Smith of Clinton; four grandchildren, Allison Jones, Andrew Smith, Adam Smith, David Dickey; and by a great-granddaughter, Katherine Marguerite Jones. Lucille Mars of Clinton was considered her sister of her heart. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2003, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Don Thomas officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Sunset Cemetery in Clinton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Lorie Johnson, 30, of Clinton, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is in charge of arrangements, which were incomplete at press time. Subramanian Raman, 65, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at his home.
