>From The Oak ridger 12 Jun 2003 Richard Franklin Blalock, 45, of the Marlow community, Herbert "Dale" Shelton, 42, of Claxton, ===================================== Richard Franklin Blalock, 45, of the Marlow community of Anderson County, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at Roane Medical Center in Harriman. Born April 24, 1958, in Anderson County, he was the son of Zella Goodman Blalock of the Marlow community and the late Arthur Lewis Blalock. He was a resident of Bland, Va., for 10 years and was employed by A.B.B. Power Inc. in Bland for six years. He was also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. In addition to his mother, Mr. Blalock is survived by his daughter, Jessica Erin Blalock of Clinton; his son Richard Nathan Blalock of Max Meadows, Va.; his brother, Chuck Blalock and wife, Janet, of Clinton; three sisters, Sheila Duncan of Knoxville, Sue Woodard and husband, Jay, of Wilson, N.C., and Bridgette Goins and husband, Jim, of Harriman; and by several cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members. The funeral will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2003, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Ronald Guthrie and Jay Kirby officiating. A graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Friday, June 13, at Anderson Memorial Gardens on Oliver Springs Highway. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Herbert "Dale" Shelton, 42, of Claxton, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at home after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born May 27, 1961, in Knoxville, he was the son of Mary Jo Shelton of Knoxville and Herbert Shelton of Claxton. Mr. Shelton was a Baptist and worked 20 years for his father at Shelton Produce. His family said he had many friends. In addition to his mother and father and wife, Fran, Mr. Shelton is survived by his wife, Kim Shelton, and by four children, Jessica Shelton and Jeremy Shelton, both of Claxton, Julie Allen and husband, Kenny, and Johnny Shelton and wife, Kim, all of Morristown. He is also survived by two sisters, Debbie Wooten and husband, David, of Knoxville, and JoAnn Wilson of Corryton; two nieces, Ara Wooten and Carly Wilson; a nephew, Noah Wooten; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Debbie and Harold Gilreath; two brothers-in-law and their families; and by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Tammy Garner, Gary Hobbs, Keith Walker and Brittany Allen are considered special friends. The funeral was Tuesday, June 10, 2003, in the chapel of Woodhaven Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in Powell, with the Rev. Henry Brown and the Rev. Charles Riggs officiating.
