Perkins, 82, Jellico, James Ragain, 83, LaFollette, Anna Lee Wender, 96, Louisville, formerly of Jellico, Richard Eugene Winter, 71, LaFollette, ===================================== Dorothy Nell Asher, 66, of 502 Rose Hill Drive, LaFollette died Sunday June 1, 2003 at the St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville. She was a member of the Little Coolidge Baptist Church. Mrs. Asher was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles. She was a retired CNA from the LaFollette Nursing Home with 15 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlis Asher; parents, Shelby and Mildred Franklin Perry and brother, Harold Perry. Mrs. Asher is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, DenisE and Larry Shoupe, and Donna and James Moore, all of LaFollette; Diane and Don Gaylor, Jacksboro; six grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; brother and sisters-in-law, Robert and Juanita Perry, Jacksboro, Ron and Willa Perry, LaFollette; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and John Grigsby, OH, Shirley and Carl Queener, Jacksboro; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Wednesday, June 4 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home. The family received friends prior to service. Rev. Scott Queener officiated. Interment will be Thursday, June 5 at 10 a.m. in Woodlawn Cemetery. Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. June 5, 2003 LaFollette Press Doyle Braden, 62, of Speedwell, died May 31, 2003 at Claiborne County Hospital. Born March 9, 1941 in Speedwell, formerly of Newport, MI. He attended Pine Grove Baptist Church, and worked at Ford Motor Co. He was a member of UAW and liked to fish and hunt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Virgie Brantley Braden. He is survived by his wife, Betty Ervin Braden; sons, Doyle Ray Braden and wife Gerie Lynn, Ft. Hood TX, Dennis Zen Braden, Toledo, OH; grandchildren, Eric, Jessy, and Derek Braden; brothers, Onis Brantley, Speedwell, Wade Braden and wife Ruth, Monroe, MI, Lloyd Braden, Speedwell, and Larry Braden, Tazewell. Funeral services are Thursday 1 p.m. at the Pine Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Jimmy Branscomb officiating. Music by April Ellison and Debbie Pierce. Burial will be in New Salem/Wilson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Wayne Braden, Ronnie Braden, John Braden, Eric Branden, Hank Williams, Greg Combs, Mitchell Moyers, Robert Ellison Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Derek and Jessy Braden. Visitation was Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home and Valley Chapel. June 5, 2003 LaFollette Press Betty A. Brimm 76, formerly of Richmond, died Wednesday May 21, 2003 in LaFollette where she had moved to September 2002. She was born in Richmond on November 7, 1926 and had worked as a business manager for the Indiana Blue Jays CB Club for several years. She was a former member of the Women of the Moose Lodge and was an avid bingo player. She was preceded in death by her son, William M. Sheppard; mother, Elizabeth Gromer; and her father, Lynn Morse. She is survived by her daughters, Florence A. "Patches" Renner, LaFollette, Vickie K. Jones, Richmond; seven grandchildren, Leland E. Renner and fiancé Amy J. Henderson, LaFollette, Lisa Lakes, Jeffery W. Colvin Jr., Jennifer N. Colvin, all of Richmond, Angela Lakes, NJ, Billy Sheppard, OH; five great grandchildren, Hunter E. Renner, LaFollette, Dalton N. Henderson, Reidsville N.C., Elizabeth Taylor Renner, Ethan Renner, Evan Renner, all of Richmond; two step-grandchildren, Ivan Renner, and Joshua Renner, both of Richmond; sister, Naomi Elliott, CA; aunt, Teresa Nolte, Richmond; several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She also she leaves behind a very special friend, Myrtle "Toni" Shipley, who is her former CNA and employee of Advantage Home Health Care. Services were Tuesday May 27 in Riggle Waltermann Mortuary. Burial was in Huntsville Cemetery. June 5, 2003 LaFollette Press Clifford Robert Draper, 74, of 304 Bunker Hill Road, Williamsburg, KY died Friday May 30, 2003 at his home. He is preceded in death by his parents, Stella Marie Nunn and William LaFayette Draper; daughter, Bobbi Diana Draper and son, Robert William Draper. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Fuson Draper, daughter, Sandra Petrey; sons, Joseph Draper, Kevin Draper and wife, Linda, Alvin Draper and wife, Maggie, Williamsburg, KY, Steve Draper and wife, Marilyn, Atlanta, MI, Danny Draper and wife, Charlotte, Pikeville, KY; 18 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives. Funeral services were Monday June 2 at the Llewellyn Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Mike Gray officiated. Burial was in the Newport Cemetery at Sandy Flats, KY. Llewellyn Funeral Home of Jellico was in charge of the arrangements. June 5, 2003 LaFollette Press Euretha Parrott O'Hara Lewis, 87, formerly of LaFollette, died peacefully Saturday, May 31 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA after a brief illness. Reth grew up in LaFollette, with her parents Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Parrott Sr. and her brothers, William Harrison Parrott Jr., and William Floyd Parrott. She married John Grady O' Hara, Jellico and they had two children, Mary Elizabeth O'Hara Merritt and John Grady O'Hara Jr. Mrs. Lewis lived for a time with her son in Ft. Worth TX and in recent years with her daughter and son-in-law, in Atlanta, GA. She was a member of LaFollette First Baptist Church. She is survived by her children; brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Floyd Parrott, LaFollette; sister-in-law Annalee Parrott, LaFollette; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family received friends Tuesday, May 3 and proceeded to the Woodlawn Cemetery for graveside services. Nephew William Floyd Parrott Jr. officiated. June 5, 2003 LaFollette Press John Earl Milton, 57, of 874 Duff Road, Duff, died Thursday, May 29, 2003 at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. He was a member of the Stanfield Church of God. John was a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Earl Milton; parents, Earl and Betty Lou Smith Milton. Mr. Milton is survived by his wife, Patsy Milton, Duff; sister, Mary "Boots" Milton, Knoxville; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Gary Ray, Duff; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. June 5, 2003 LaFollette Press Marian Lucille Wier Miracle, 59, Oak Ridge, formerly of Jacksboro, died Tuesday, May 13, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Lucille Hatmaker Wier; brother, Robert Presley Wier; nephews, Samuel Hope Wier and Charles Edward Wier. She is survived by her husband, Larry Miracle, Oak Ridge; daughters, Cheryl Wilson, Rene Huseman and Robin Kueck, all of IN; sisters, Emma Cooper and Rita Morelas, Oak Ridge, Diane Redmon, Jacksboro, and Kathy Mercier, RI; brothers, Sam Wier, Jacksboro, Bill Wier, Chattanooga, and Ronnie Wier, OR; aunts, Martha Perkins, Jacksboro, Carmen Ellerbe, Maryville and Kila Powers, Caryville. June 5, 2003 LaFollette Press William Parker Jr., 73, of Dayton OH, died Tuesday May 27, 2003. Just was born October 4, 1929 in Jellico to William and Meda Parker and was one of the 15 children; Hobert, William, Monroe, Sam, John, Elmer, Eckle, Everette, Pearlie, Hazel, Emma, Rosie, Zelma, Leola and Retha. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wives, Margaret and Rosella Parker. Junior is survived by his children, Eddie J. (Carol Deaton) Parker, Timmy Parker, Judy K. (Darrell R.) Farler, and Rosetta Parker; grandchildren, Scotty Farler, Donnie Allen, and Eddie Parker Jr.; great grandchildren, William Parker, Logan Allen, Kayla Allen, and Morgan Allen; and special friend Ginny McClain. Funeral services were Saturday May 31 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home. Graveside were Sunday, June 1 in Odd Fellows Cemetery with full military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard. Perkins, 82, Jellico, died Saturday, May 31, 2003 at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. He was born March 14, 1921 in Newcomb. He was the son of Maynard and Orna Lamb Perkins. He is preceded in death by a grandson, Lonnie Ryan McQueen; sisters, Roxie, Bernice, and Sally; brother, Dewey. Mr. Perkins is survived by three sons, Gary Perkins and wife Deborah, Jellico, Wesley Joe Perkins and wife Brenda, Newcomb, Danny Perkins and wife Nancy, Elk Valley; daughter, Deanna McQueen and husband Lonnie, Belleville, MI; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Stella Mae McCarter, Knoxville. Funeral services were Tuesday, June 3 at the Cox and Son Chapel. Rev. Lester Cox officiated. Interment followed in the Valley View Cemetery at Elk Valley. June 5, 2003 LaFollette Press James Ragain, 83, of 115 Colonial Heights, LaFollette, died Friday May 30, 2003 at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. He was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church. Mr. Ragain was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and participated in the invasion of Okinawa. He retired with 37 years of service with BellSouth and was a member of Jacksboro Masonic Lodge #322 F & AM. Mr. Ragain played on the Knoxville High School National Football Team in 1937. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Sowder Ragain; son, Mark Christopher Ragain; parents, Lonnie and Lillian Turner Ragain; sisters, Mamie and Lucille Ragain; son-in-law, Robert Cox. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, US Navy Captain James C. II and Debbie Ragain, Chicago IL, daughters and sons-in-law, Verda Ann and Joe Rogers, Powell, Jana and Geoff Whedbee, LaFollette; daughter, Judith Cox, Morristown; 12 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Francis Morris, Montery, CA and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services were Saturday, May 31 at the Hillcrest Baptist. Rev. Bill Edmons officiated. Interment was Sunday, June 1 in Campbell Memorial Gardens with full Military Honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard. Medical Center, Knoxville. She was born July 6, 1906 in Louisville KY, the daughter of the late James and Annie Lucy Melton Myers. She is survived by sons, Robert Lee Wender, Chandler AZ, Will Hood Wender, Knoxville; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services were Tuesday, May 27 at Jellico Cemetery. Rev. Wayne Hedrick officiated. Cox and Son Funeral Home were in charge of the arrangements. June 5, 2003 LaFollette Press Richard Eugene Winter, 71, LaFollette, formerly of North Carolina, died Friday May 30 at his home. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, South Campbell County Rotary Club, Campbell County Senior Citizen and Volunteer for Campbell County Historical Society. Mr. Winter was employed with Hoover Company in North Canton, OH for 32 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard Lindsey and Lula Octovia Winter; brothers, Ralph Leonard and Donald Winter; sisters, Ruth Oralea Winter and Hazel Shook. He is survived by his wife, Delphia Etter Winter, LaFollette; brothers, Clarence A Winter, Hickory, N.C., Thomas Emmitt Winter, Bakersville, N.C.; sister, Carol Ollis, Morgantown, N.C. Funeral services were Tuesday June 3, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, N.C. Jack C. Etter officiated. Interment was in the White Pine Cemetery, Crossnore, N.C.
