BETTY CHAPMAN WELCH, GARY RAY - Oneida WESTERVELT, JEAN - age 68, of Heiskell, ===================================== ELLSWORTH, DOW HARRIS, JR. - age 37, of Clinton, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2003, at the Windwood Healthcare Center in Clinton, after a lengthy illness, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He loved fishing and hunting before his accident. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Preceded in death by grandparents, Howard and Lillian Buckingham. Dow was born May 25, 1966, in Sidney, Ohio. Survivors: wife, Rhonda Harris of Clinton; sons, Brandon Elliott of Clinton, and Jacob Harris of Clinton; daughters, Beth Harris of Sidney, Ohio, Yolanda Bidwell of Clinton, Jesstina Bidwell of Clinton, Kendra Harris of Clinton; parents, Dow Ellsworth Sr. and Donna Harris of Sidney, Ohio; granddaughter, Destiny Root of Sidney, Ohio; brothers, Aaron Harris of Sidney of Sidney, Ohio, Jason Harris and wife, Denise of Sidney, Ohio; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dixie and Tony Kyle of Andersonville; grandparents, Leonard and Emma Harris of Sidney, Ohio; special friends, Joe and Annette Moore of Clinton. LIDA JANE CARSON - age 51, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 14, 2003, at her home in Wartburg, Tenn. Janie was a graduate of Carson Newman College and an active member of Big Emory Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, outdoor activities, photography, craft hobbies, and writing poetry. She also enjoyed helping people and loved children. She was preceded in death by father, Charles Carson of Wartburg. She is survived by her mother, Jean Kinsley Carson of Wartburg; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen and Sam Nugent; son, Larry J. Miller, Jr.; sister, Mary Lynn Carson; brothers, Charles E. Carson, James D. Carson and George Carson; grandson, Johnathan Lee Coker and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Janie's family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home. Funeral services Wednesday 11 a.m., Schubert Funeral Home Chapel, Wartburg. Interment will be in the Wartrburg Cemetery. She was loved and she will be missed. ROSENBERG, MR. RICHARD ERWIN - age 78, of Oak Ridge, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Life Care Center in Wartburg. He was the husband of Judith Rosenberg. Memorial service will be conducted at Faith Lutheran Church, Oak Ridge, 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2003, with Rev. James Evers officiating. STOOKSBURY, JAMES HERSHEL - age 74, of Clinton, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2003, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. He was a member and Deacon of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Andersonville. He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran, who served during the Korean conflict. He was an avid antique collector and loved gardening in his spare time. Preceded in death by parents, Lee and Shrepty Lay Stooksbury; sister, Rosalee Holmes, and brother, Billy Stooksbury. James was born March 6, 1929, in Harlan County, Kentucky. Survivors: wife of 43 years, Barbara Louise Stooksbury of Clinton; daughter, Michelle Stooksbury of Clinton; son, Michael S. BETTY CHAPMAN - began rejoicing in Heaven, Sunday, June 15, 2003. As she made the move from her earthly home in Oakdale, Tenn., to her heavenly home, Betty, the daughter of Albert and Rosa Chapman, was born and raised in the Camp Austin Community of Oakdale. She taught school for one year before marrying Frank Summers of Oakdale on July 19, 1947. Betty worked at Burlington Hosiery in Harriman for 18 years until rheumatoid arthritis disabled her. She was a devout Christian and member of White Oak Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a Sunday School Teacher and choir member until she was no longer able to attend. Betty loved to garden, work in her flowers and quilt. When she could no longer do these things she continued to be an avid reader and work crossword puzzles. Besides he parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Faye Chapman; half sisters, Julie Cagle, Mary Taylor, Georgia Langley and Ruby Ooten. She was also preceded by brothers, A. B. and Russell; half brothers, Ed. Harry, and John. Betty is survived by her husband, Frank; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Steve Kittrell of Oakdale; three grandsons and wives, Chris and Tami of Knoxville, Jason and Robin, and Josh of Oakdale. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Sydney, Madeline and Darren.; sisters, Robbie Headrick and Lucille Ball of Knoxville; brothers, L. WELCH, GARY RAY - was born September 29, 1948, and left to be with the Lord on the morning of June 15, 2003, in the presence of his family, at his home in Oneida, Tenn. He was the loving husband of Alice Rose Stanley Welch, his bride of over 33 years. Gary was a member of New Haven Baptist Church in Oneida. He was the General Manager of HBD Industries, where he had been employed since 1983. Prior to that, Gary was an educator teaching in the Oneida and Scott County School Systems, and Robbins High School. He was an athletics coach and sponsor of several clubs and groups during his teaching career. He was a graduate of Robbins High School, Cumberland College and completed post-graduate work in Ecology from Tennessee Tech University. Gary Welch was a loving family man, grandfather, and strong patriarch of his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Ray Welch; infant sister, Carol Ruth Welch; grandparents, Freeman and Bertha Welch and Guy and Allie Parson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas and Travannia Stanley, all of Scott County, Tenn., and brother- in-law, J. C. Stanley of Indianapolis, Ind. Gary is survived by his wife, Alice, of Oneida, Tenn.; his mother, Maxine Parson Welch of Robbins, Tenn.; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Derek Jeffers; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Tim Hamby, all of Oneida, Tenn.; brothers, Robert Welch and wife, Mildred, and Michael Welch; sisters, Patricia Seale and husband, John, Donna Frogge and husband, Gary, Regina Litton and husband, Garrett, and Debra Thompson and husband, Steve, all of Robbins, Tenn. Gary was a loving Papaw and is survived by his precious grandchildren, Breeanna, Chuck, Mike, Gary and Gabe Jeffers and Felicia, Nick and Jacob Hamby. He is also survived by special sister-in-law, Mary Ann Stanley Brewster of Oneida, Tenn., and special brother- in-law, Jim Stanley and wife, Roxie of Muncie, Ind. In addition, Gary leaves behind many special aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Interment will be conducted on Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. in the Coffey Cemetery, located on Stanley Street in Oneida, Tenn. Hospital. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Powell, and was preceded in death by mother, Grace Ogle; father, William A. Ellis and a brother, William Ellis. Survived by husband, Robert Westervelt; two brothers, Jerry Ellis of Jefferson City, and Danny Ellis of Knoxville, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel with Dr. Clarence Sexton and Rev. Benny Miller officiating.
