    2. >From The Knoxsville News Sentinel 21 Jun 2003 MADISON, MYRTLE MAE - age 94 of Caryville, PORTWOOD, DORIS JUNE - age 65, ===================================== MADISON, MYRTLE MAE - age 94 of Caryville, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2003, at her home. She was a member of Bruce Gap Church of God. Preceded in death by husband, Rev. James Frank Madison; daughter, Mary Magdaline Madison; sons, Hubert Lee Madison, David Lonzo Madison and Dewey William Madison, and daughters in law, Lorene and Elizabeth Madison. Survivors: 8 grandchildren, Vickie Ann Tennis, Barbara Jean McCormick, Janice Lorene Catz, James Frank Madison, Debra Sue Madison Proctor, Dinah Faye Vogel, Teresa Mae Madison and Dewey William Madison, Jr.; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Harry Phillips, Dayton, Ohio; daughter in law, Barbara Marie Madison. Funeral service 2 p.m. Sunday June 22, at Cross Chapel. Rev. Bill Wilson officiating. Interment Queener Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday June 21, at Cross Funeral Home. Arrangements by Cross Funeral Home. PORTWOOD, DORIS JUNE - age 65, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, June 19, 2003 at Ft. Sanders Park West Medical Center of Knoxville. Mrs. Portwood was preceded in death by her mother, Zell Marie Vann; brother, James Thomas Vann; and a sister, Dona Marie Vann. Mrs. Portwood was born November 16, 1937 in Morgan County. She was a lifelong resident of East Tennessee. She was a homemaker and an active member of the Beechfork Holiness Church. Doris was an accomplished and published songwriter. She was 1/3 the Portwood singing group that toured several states in the Southeast. She was an artist, skilled in oil paintings, water colors and acrylic. Mrs. Portwood's hobby was a three acre flower garden. Survivors: husband, Owen C. Portwood Jr. of Knoxville; daughter, Freida Emert and husband, Randy, of Soddy Daisy; grandson, Lee Chapes Emert of Soddy Daisy; father, Rommie Vann, Sr of Wartburg; sisters, Addie Lou Liles and husband, Pat of Rockwood, Wanda Justice of LaFollette, Peggy Sexton of Wartburg, Dora Faye Vann of Wartburg; brothers, Rommie Vann Jr. and wife, Pat, of Wartburg, Donald Vann and wife, Pat, of Wartburg. Mrs. Portwood was also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of special friends. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 22, 2003 at 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home, with Reverend Herman Woods officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, between the hours of 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. Burial and graveside services will be held Monday, June 23, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the Old Petros Cemetery.
