Webb Castleberry, 74, of Knoxville, Adam Payne, 29, ===================================== James Corbett Majors, 55, of Oak Ridge died Monday, June 16, 2003, at his home. Born April 30, 1948 in Oak Ridge, he was the son of Roger Milton Majors and Helen Collett Majors, both now deceased. Mr. Majors graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1966. He served with Seabees in the U.S. Navy from 1967 until 1973. He was stationed in Italy and served aboard the U.S.S. Tallahatchie County and the U.S. Saratoga during the Vietnam War era. He concluded his military service with the U.S. Naval Reserves. Mr. Majors worked as a stock clerk with Big Lots for 15 years and prior to that was employed with A & P grocery store. He was a member of Robertsville Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Roger M. Majors Jr. and Judy Lynn Majors, who both died in infancy. He is survived by his son, Gregory Ray Majors and his wife, Jodi, of Lenoir City, and Steven Eric Majors and his wife, Kristi, of Powell. He is also survived by three sisters, Beverly Majors of Oliver Springs, June Yarborough and her husband, Joe, of Hixson and Penny Dyer of Chattanooga; and by several nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to a charity of the donor's choice. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Weatherford Mortuary. Brian Todd Porter, 29, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, June 15, 2003. Born July 18, 1973, in Tucson, Ariz., he was the son of Cheryl Porter of Chino Valley, Ariz., and the late Vernon Russell "Bubba" Porter, who died in 1999. Mr. Porter resided in Oak Ridge for the past seven years, but lived most of his life in Chino Valley. His family said his passion in life was his music. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Andrea Margaret Porter, on May 3, 2003. In addition to his mother, Mr. Porter is survived by his grandmother, Bert Epperson, and his daughter, Katie Jo Porter, age 11, both of Chino Valley. He is also survived by three nieces and nephew by profession, Whitney Cox, Serena Gianfrancesco, and Zachary Chesney; and by four stepsons, Paul Gianfrancesco, Chris Gianfrancesco, Dominic Gianfrancesco and Nicky Gianfrancesco. Tom and Sarah Collins and their children are considered his best friends. Jeannette Cox of Oak Ridge is considered his closest and dearest friend. The family will host a memorial service in Tucson, but arrangements were incomplete at press time. James Hershel Stooksbury, 74, of Clinton, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born March 6, 1929, in Harlan County, Kentucky, he was the son of Lee and Shrepty Lay Stooksbury, both now deceased. He was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Andersonville. Mr. Stooksbury was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, who served during the Korean conflict. His family said he was an avid antique collector and loved gardening in his spare time. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rosalee Holmes and a brother, Billy Stooksbury. Mr. Stooksbury is survived by his daughter, Michelle Stooksbury of Clinton; his son, Michael S. Stooksbury of Clinton; five brothers, Roscoe Stooksbury and wife, Arbutus, of Knoxville, Delmar Stooksbury and wife, Eleanor, and Willard Stooksbury, Bobby Stooksbury and Donald Stooksbury, all of Clinton; and by a sister, Carolyn Hanberry of Clinton. He is also survived by four brothers-in-law, Jimmy Southard, Jack Southard and wife, Barbara, and Joe Southard and wife, Tena, all of Clinton, and Tommy Southard and wife, Annette, of Oak Ridge; six sisters-in-law, Betty Riner and husband, Charles, Linda Slack and husband, McNoel, and Brenda Stinnett and husband, Howard, all of Oliver Springs, Gail Sigmon and husband, Mike, of Oak Ridge, Margaret Tuggle and husband, Rodney, of Coalfield, and Becky Moses and husband, Luke, of Chattanooga; and by several nieces, nephews and other extended family members. The funeral will be at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2003, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Robert H. Combs officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 19, at Anderson Memorial Gardens on Oliver Springs Highway. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Ellen H. Grimwood, 85, of Oak Ridge, died Friday, June 13, 2003, at her home after a long illness. Born June 24, 1917, in Corning, N.Y., she was the daughter of James and Eleanor Wellington, both now deceased. Mrs. Grimwood lived in Oak Ridge for 14 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin Grimwood. Mrs. Grimwood is survived by a daughter, Carol Smallridge and husband, Bob, of Oak Ridge; a two sons, Robert C. Harris of Pennsylvania and Roger Allen Harris of California; two sisters, Virginia Ruth Holland of Ontario, N.Y. and Shirley Elaine Schuler of Rochester, N.Y.; three brothers, Donald Walker Wellington of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., James Leslie Wellington of Eugene, Ore., and Ronald Lee Ferraro of Rome, N.Y.; and by other family members throughout New York state. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Cheryl Kress and husband, Reid, Julie Dallas and husband, Bill, and Tim Smallridge; and by 10 great-grandchildren. Her niece, Gloria Jean Cornelius of Ontario and her doctor, Charles Bruton with East Tennessee Pulmonary Associates, are considered special friends. The memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2003, in the chapel of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oak Ridge. Barbara Kertis Bracken, 89, of Harriman and formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Briarcliff Health Care Center in Oak Ridge. Born July 31, 1913, in Stan Junction, Pa., she was the daughter of Joseph Penkala and Katherin Benicky Penkala, both now deceased. Mrs. Bracken lived many years in Cleveland and she retired from the state of Ohio before moving to Tennessee, 20 years ago. She was a Catholic. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John Kertis and by a son, John E. Kertis. Mrs. Bracken is survived by her husband, John S. Bracken; her grandson, John K. Kertis of Ravenna, Ohio; her nephew, Herman "Bud" Bracken and wife, Ruth, of Oak Ridge; her niece, Fonda Barnes of Karns; and by her daughter-in-law, Lois Kertis, of Cleveland. A private viewing was conducted Monday, June 16, 2003, at Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs. Graveside services will be announced later this week in Cleveland. Maudie E. Jones, 79, of Oliver Springs, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born July 14, 1923, in Morgan County, she was the daughter of Samuel Allen and Murmie Patterson Allen, both now deceased. Mrs. Jones lived in the Stephens community in Morgan County before moving to Oliver Springs in 1973. She was a homemaker and she attended Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lorenzie Jones; a brother, Jessie Allen; and by two sister, Helen Hensley and Cora Gentry. Mrs. Jones is survived by two daughters, Minerva Perry of Oliver Springs and Betty Campbell and husband, Don, of Knoxville; five step-grandchildren, Bill Perry Jr., Robyn Perry, Janet Martinez, Jeff Perry and Doug Perry; a brother, Leroy Allen of Knoxville; and by two sisters, Lena Mae Jones of the Stephens community and Mollie Chapman of Wartburg. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2003, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Garvan Walls officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at New Fairview Cemetery in Oliver Springs. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Jean Westervelt, 68, of Heiskell, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Powell. She was preceded in death my her mother, Grace Ogle; her father, William A. Ellis; and by a brother, William Ellis. Mrs. Westervelt is survived by her husband, Robert Westervelt; two brothers, Jerry Ellis of Jefferson City and Danny Ellis of Knoxville; and by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home on West Adair Drive in Knoxville, with the Rev. Clarence Sexton and the Rev. Benny Miller officiating. Burial will be at noon Wednesday, June 18, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Dorothy M. Webb Castleberry, 74, of Knoxville, died Monday, June 16, 2003, at her home. She was a member of the Solway Baptist Church and was employed by Marsco Corp. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Castleberry. Mrs. Castleberry is survived by her son, Steve Castleberry and wife, Treva; her daughter, Debra Castleberry; five grandchildren, Chris Castleberry, Betsy Castleberry, Nicole Morrell, Glen Morrell and Hope O'Brien; a great-granddaughter, Rheanna Morrell; her brother, Lankford "Sonny" Webb; two sisters, Louise Lawson and Margaret Lawson; and by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2003, in the chapel of Weaver Funeral Home in Knoxville. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 19, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Adam Payne, 29, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at his home. Born Jan. 27, 1974, at New Hanover Hospital in Wilmington, N.C., he was the son of Rebecca S. Payne of Powell. He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Al and Betty Payne of Tazewell. In addition to his mother, Mr. Payne is survived by his daughter, Baylee Juliana Payne of Oak Ridge; grandparents, Phil and Barbara Payne of Maynardville and Bob and Lucille Foust of Lake City; and by eight aunts and uncles, Sandra Payne of Knoxville, Lynn Stanton of Columbus, Ga., Deborah Jones of Clinton, Chuck and Delores Foust of Oak Ridge, Mike and Debbie Foust of Mt. Juliet and Gayle Lively of Lake City. He is also survived by a brother, Jonathan D. Payne; a niece, Drew Payne; a nephew, Javen Payne; a stepsister, Shelly Stooksbury Hensley; a half sister, Ashley Brummitt; and by eight cousins, Allison Reep, Corey Reep, Chad Reep, Summer Stanton, Savannah Stanton, Heather Foust, Jessica Foust and Trevor Foust. Jill Robbins of Oak Ridge is considered a special friend. Graveside services were Friday, June 6, 2003, at Fairview Cemetery in Tazewell.
