>From The Oak Ridger 26 Jun 2003 Johnathan Benjamin Peters, 72, of Oak Ridge, =================================== Johnathan Benjamin Peters, 72, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born April 14, 1931, in Altoona, Pa., he was the son of the Rev. Charles Benjamin Peters and the Rev. Clara Annie Matheison Peters, both now deceased. Mr. Peters was raised in Tyrone, Pa., and moved to Oak Ridge in August 1954. He was a member of the Assemblies of God Church in Tyrone where his parents ministered. He has attended the First United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge for many years. His family said that he really enjoyed his family and was very involved with his grandchildren and their many activities. Mr. Peters retired in 1991 from the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant where he was a general supervisor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline Ann Stroh in December 2001. Mr. Peters is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Louise Westley Peters; a son, Johnathan Benjamin Peters II and wife, Arnetta Hatfield Peters, of Oak Ridge; a daughter, Joanna Louise Fritts and husband, David, of Oak Ridge; a son-in-law, Richard Stroh of Maryville; a brother, David Samuel Peters and wife, Debra, of Federal Way, Wash.; four grandchildren, Benjamin Riley Peters, Kerri Rosenberger and husband, Jason, all of Oak Ridge, and Abraham John Stroh and Sarah Elizabeth Stroh, both of Maryville; and by one great-grandchild, Shelby Anne Rosenberger of Oak Ridge. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2003, at Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Bill Mooney officiating. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family requests that any memorials be made in the form of contributions to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, East Tennessee Chapter, 4700 Rutledge Pike, Knoxville, TN 37914.
