>From the Oak Ridger 2 Feb 2004 Rebecca Ellen Ellis Meade, of Kingston, Lois Eileen Niswander, 84, of Oliver Springs, Grady LaFayette O'Kain Jr., 76, of the Solway community, Kirk O'Neal Pearson, 77, of Oak Ridge, \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Rebecca Ellen Ellis Meade, of Kingston, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at Roane Medical Center. Mrs. Meade was a Baptist and a member of New Midway Baptist Church. She was retired from Harriman Hospital, where she worked as a nurse for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay C. and Martha "Mattie" Franklin Ellis, and by her husband, L.A. Meade. Mrs. Meade is survived by two sons, D.W. Harris and wife, Clarice, and David Meade and special friend, Jacquelyn Keylon, all of Kingston; her daughter, Vikki Hatfield and husband, Ray, of Kingston; six grandchildren, Jennifer Hatfield, Raylene Edwards and husband, Mike, Byron Hatfield, Tish Osborne and husband, Kerry, and Tyler Gregory, all of Kingston, and Theron Hatfield and wife, Ruth, of Boston, Mass.; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey Danielle Osborne and Jesse Edwards, both of Kingston; and by a special niece, Billie Womack, of Oak Ridge. The family said they would like to thank the staff at Roane Medical Center for the special care of their mother, as well as a special thanks to Pat Redman. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at Midtown Funeral Chapel on Roane State Highway in Harriman with the Rev. Wayne Provience officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at Kingston Memorial Gardens on North Gateway Avenue in Kingston. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, 871 North Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, TN 37909, the Humane Society of Roane County, 433 Shady Lane, Kingston, TN 37763, or to a charity of the donor's choice. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Lois Eileen Niswander, 84, of Oliver Springs, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was a native of Cleveland, Va., and lived in Oliver Springs since 1960. She was owner and operator of Lois's Beauty Shop in Oliver Springs for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Carl Niswander; her parents, Utah Counts and Nancy Artrip Counts; two brothers, Woodrow Counts and Jack Counts; and by a sister, Gladys Counts. Mrs. Niswander is survived by her daughter, Julia Musolf and husband, Mark, of Rockwood; her son, John Carl Niswander of Oliver Springs; and by a sister, Betty Jessee of Richmond, Va. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at Anderson Memorial Gardens on the Oliver Springs Highway in Clinton with the Rev. Keith Price officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, at Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs. Grady LaFayette O'Kain Jr., 76, of the Solway community, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at his home, of an apparent heart attack. Born Aug. 27, 1927, in Dickson County, he was the son of Grady L. and Katherine Miller O'Kain. He moved to Oak Ridge in 1942 with his family. Mr. O'Kain worked for Management Services Inc. in Oak Ridge for about 30 years. While working for MSI, he and his family lived in Picayune, Miss., for about two years. He then worked for Martin Marietta Energy Systems, where he was a maintenance supervisor until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and a 50 plus year member of the IBEW No. 270. According to his family, he was a husband, father, brother, papaw and uncle; a man of many talents and very much loved by all. His family said he was "KR4C" to his Ham Radio friends, "Brother" to his family at Central Baptist Church, retired electrician from Union Carbide Corp., and "Mr. Fix-It" to everyone he knew. His family said he enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing rook, and he thrived on being busy and was always working and helping someone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Ada Ferrell O'Kain, who died April 21, 1994. They had been married for 46 years. Mr. O'Kain is survived by his wife of seven months, Reba McGinnis O'Kain; three daughters, Wanda Jackson and husband, Russell, of Oak Ridge, Karen Moneymaker and husband, John Edward, of Greeneville and Carol Hammer and husband, Joe, of Edenton, N.C.; a stepdaughter, Pat Weeks and husband, J.W., of Oak Ridge; and by a stepson-in-law, Robert Southern, of Oak Ridge. He is also survived by a sister, Mae O'Kain Gill, of the Solway community; four brothers, Bill J. O'Kain and wife, Ruby, and David U. O'Kain and wife, Mary Kate, all of Oak Ridge, Jim G. O'Kain and wife, Sybil, of Powell, and Doyle C. O'Kain and wife, Linda, of Huntsville, Ala.; six grandchildren, Wendy Jackson of Oak Ridge, Sarah Moneymaker, Jessica Moneymaker and John Grady "J.G." Moneymaker, all of Greeneville, and Martha Hammer and Emily Hammer, both of Edenton; and by three stepgrandchildren, Kara Weeks and Kelly Weeks, both of Oak Ridge and Ashley Southern of Cookeville. The funeral was Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Bob Gray officiating. A graveside service was Sunday, Feb. 1, at Anderson Memorial Gardens on the Oliver Springs Highway in Clinton.
