Hello, I am seeking any information surrounding the 1925 shooting death of Scott County Sheriff Richard Ellis in 1925. Tennessee State Library death records indicate that he was 43 years old and was ambused and shot to death in 1925. Other information I have found suggests this happened outside the Scott County Jailhouse. I know that prior to becoming sheriff, Richard Ellis was a preacher. His main priority as sheriff is said to have been wiping out the moonshine business in Scott County during prohibition.
