Beno, 82, of Oak Ridge, Opal Mabel Wilson Bruner, 86, long-time resident of Oak Ridge, Elmer Thomas Lively, 83, of Oliver Springs, Roma Anita Carmichael, 62, of Oak Ridge, Evelyn Len West, 82, of Clinton, Donald Mack Evans, 49, of Clinton, Dovie Marie Tallent Papke, 76, formerly of Oak Ridge, Charles Norman Hannah, 53, of Knoxville, \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Andrew F. Beno, 82, of Oak Ridge, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at his home. Born Nov. 27, 1921, in Ford City, Pa., he was the son of Vincent and Mary Tarnek Beno. He apprenticed as a machinist and worked as a precision tool and die maker until his retirement in 1988. Mr. Beno married Sadie Payo in Ford City on Jan. 12, 1943. They moved to California in 1952 and continued to live there until their move to Oak Ridge in 1991. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. In addition to his wife, Mr. Beno is survived by a daughter, Andrea Wignall and husband, George, of Oak Ridge; three sons, Lawrence Beno and wife, Anita, of Madisonville, Richard Beno and wife, Vicki, of Satellite Beach, Fla., and Andrew Beno Jr. and wife, Karin, of Cocollala, Ind.; a brother, Vincent Beno of Ford City; two sisters, Martha Cippel of Ford City and Bernadette Hawk of Russell, Mass.; and by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service was Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Woods officiating. A private burial followed. Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Opal Mabel Wilson Bruner, 86, long-time resident of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at Briarcliff Health Care Center, where she had been a resident for a year. Prior to entering Briarcliff she resided at the Oak Ridge Retirement Community. Born April 21, 1917, in Pineville, Ky., she was the daughter of Boyd and Leelon Kenningham Wilson. Mrs. Bruner was a homemaker and a member of Central Baptist Church. According to her family, all her energies were spent on her family and her home, which were very important to her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, James Carl Bruner. Mrs. Bruner is survived by her son, Carl A. Bruner and wife, Christine, of Knoxville; two sisters, Martha Lois Park and Mary Lee Brown, both of Oak Ridge; two grandchildren, Emily Cripps and husband, Reed, of Lafayette, Ind., and Christian Bruner of Knoxville; and by a great-grandson, Samuel Cripps of Lafayette. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Bob Gray officiating. A private burial will be at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at the mortuary. Elmer Thomas Lively, 83, of Oliver Springs, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Dec. 28, 1920, in Windrock, he was the son of Charlie Logan Lively and Rose Mary Reynolds Lively. He started working in the coal mines at the age of 16. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Miner Workers of America. He worked at Windrock Coal Co., Clinchmore Coal, Rosedale Coal Co. and Pocahonas Coal Co. Mr. Lively was a 45-year member of Union Valley Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. His family said he enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. According to his family, Mr. Lively was a compassionate, considerate, understanding and loving husband and father, who always put his family and others first. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Vic A. Allen Lively; a daughter, Lena F. Bunch; three brothers, Ramsey Lively, Lewis Lively and Carlie Lively; and by three sisters, Martha Gibson, Mary Lou Morgan and Willie Byrge. Mr. Lively is survived by his wife of 61 years, Etta L. Lively; two daughters, Sena McPeters and husband, Wendell, of Oliver Springs, and Sheila Collins and husband, Tim, of Kingston; and by eight grandchildren, Cheryl Bales, Tommy Lively, Chris Lively, April McPeters, Steve McPeters, Jason Lively, Melissa Lively and Katie Collins. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Amanda Bales, Michael Bales, Alexis Lively, Courtney Lively, Jordan Lively, Isaac McPeters and Jaydon McPeters; and by five sisters, Lottie Byrge of Coalfield and Lucredia Pride, Anna Laura West, Ranny Davis and Ruby Beatrice Aslinger, all of Oliver Springs. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Wayne Morgan, the Rev. Donald Daugherty and the Rev. Benny Braden officiating. A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at Anderson Memorial Gardens on the Oliver Springs Highway. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Roma Anita Carmichael, 62, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Feb. 21, 1942, in Alabama, she was the daughter of Thomas and Virginia Jones Haynes, both now deceased. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was a retired nurse. Her family said she enjoyed taking care of her great-grandson and reading. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Carmichael; a daughter, Jennifer Carmichael; and by a brother, David Haynes. Mrs. Carmichael is survived by a daughter, Kathy Carmichael of Oak Ridge; a brother, Tom Haynes and wife, Vicky, of Clinton; a sister, Ruth Fullum and husband, Bill, of North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Nancy Haynes Pratter of Oak Ridge; a grandchild, Nicole Chilton and her fiance, Joshua Cagley; a great-grandson, Jackson Ryan; and by special friends, Steve Vincent, Peter Salpus and Nicholas Salpus. No service has been scheduled at this time. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to a charity of the donor's choice. Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Evelyn Len West, 82, of Clinton, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mrs. West was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Sallie Bunch, her husband, Melvin West, and a daughter, Wanda West. She is survived by her daughter, Opal West; four sons, Paul West, James West, Archie West and Noble West; a sister and a brother, Tommy Lowe and Jewell Craig, all of Clinton; and by 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at noon Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Samuel Condon officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Garden in Clinton. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday at the funeral home. Donald Mack Evans, 49, of Clinton, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mr. Evans was a member of Clinton Second Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, James Evans. Mr. Evans is survived by his mother, Dollie Evans, of Clinton; a sister, Theresa Chutter and husband, Bob, of Andersonville; two brothers, Ricky Evans and Thomas Evans and wife, Judy, all of Clinton; four nieces; two nephews; one grandniece; and by one grandnephew. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at Clinton Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Dovie Marie Tallent Papke, 76, formerly of Oak Ridge, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, in Atlanta, Ga. Born in Morganton, N.C., she was the daughter of Charles and Minnie Tallent. She graduated from Glen Alpine High School in Glen Alpine, N.C., and was salutatorian of her class. She received a degree in business administration from Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, N.C. Mrs. Papke was employed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a senior executive secretary in the thermocuclear division. According to her family, her hobbies included gourmet cooking, sewing, teaching conversational English, bowling, golf, Beta Sigma Phi sorority and world travel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daryl M. Papke; and by four brothers, Lee Tallent, J.P. Tallent, Earl Tallent and Charles Tallent, all of Morganton. Mrs. Papke is survived by her daughter, Karen Papke Gatanis, of Powder Springs, Ga.; a son-in-law, Steve Gatanis, of Powder Springs; two grandchildren, Harry Gatanis and Lydia Gatanis, both of Powder Springs; two sisters, Alice T. McEvoy and Mozelle T. Lester, both of Knoxville; two sisters-in-law, Rachel Tallent and Maxine Tallent, both of Morgantown; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, in the chapel of Oak Ridge Memorial Park with the Rev. Ray Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 1900 Richmond Road, Lexington, KY 40502. The Cremation Society of the South in Smyrna, Ga., is in charge of arrangements. Charles Norman Hannah, 53, of Knoxville, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at his home.
