Smith, 88, a long-time Oak Ridge resident, Ernest Charles Willoughby, 72, of Oak Ridge, \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Ellen Hawkins, 86, of Lake City, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Sarah Miller Seiber; her husband, Simon Hawkins; and by three brothers, Bob Seiber, Jesse Seiber and the Rev. Albert Seiber. Mrs. Hawkins is survived by two sons, B.I. Hawkins and Albert Hawkins, both of Lake City; four daughters, Mary Etta Patterson and Bernice Phillips, both of Clinton, and Pauline Bray and Misty Hawkins, both of Oak Ridge; seven grandsons, Gary Byrge, Matt Byrge, Mickey West, Tony Foster, Jackie Foster, Stevie Foster and Jonathan Massey; four granddaughters, Gretta Smith, Angie Byrge, Amanda Cooper and Crystal Loveday; and by 24 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Pitney Seiber officiating. Burial will be at Tommy Phillips Cemetery. Joseph Bicknell Marshall Jr., 76, of Clinton, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at Baptist Hospital West in Knoxville. Mr. Marshall attended New Salem Baptist Church in Clinton and retired as a manager at the Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant. Born June 1, 1927 in Monroe County, he was the son of Joseph B. and Laura Houston Marshall. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Becky Helton Marshall, a daughter, Pamela Jane Thatcher and a brother, Harry Marshall. Mr. Marshall is survived by his wife, Bertie Madewell Marshall; a son, Joseph B. Marshall III and wife, Sharon, of Bowling Green, Ky.; two daughters, Donna Young and husband, Max, of Nashville, and Laura Verner and husband, Greg, of Oak Ridge; and eight grandchildren, Shannon Peterson and husband, Eric, Becky Marshall, Corey Verner, Jared Verner, Maxx Young, Jaclyn Young, Jake Young and Bradley Clark. He is also survived by two stepsons, Roger Madewell and wife, Sandy, of Oak Ridge, and Ronnie Madewell and wife, Rhonda, of Oak Ridge; and six step-grandchildren, Christina Madewell, Christopher Madewell, Mike Higginbotham, Kim Higginbotham, Robin Moran and April Moran; two sisters, Emma McInturff of Chicago, Ill., and Charlotte Pinkston of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Robert Marshall and wife, Aliene, of Knoxville; a sister-in-law, Leah Marshall of Vonore; and by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Mark Gallahar and the Rev. Chris Albright officiating. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at Anderson Memorial Garden, Oliver Springs Highway. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Carolyn M. Goldman Stewart, 48, of Corona, Calif., formerly of Pine Bluff, Ark., died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004. Born Oct. 27, 1955, in Natchez, Miss., she was the daughter of Ollie Raymond and Ollie Jane Strickland Goldman, of Pine Bluff. Mrs. Stewart grew up in Pine Bluff, where she graduated from Pine Bluff High School. She married Joseph Heyden Stewart III on April 7, 1984, in Pine Bluff. Her family said she enjoyed reading, mountain climbing and decorating. She had worked as an interior decorator and clerk for many companies. She was a Baptist. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stewart is survived by her husband; her son, Bryan Nicholas Stewart of Little Rock, Ark.; two daughters, Rachael Lynn French of Pine Bluff, and Suzanne Nichole Owen of Little Rock; two brothers, Kenneth Mitchell Goldman of Magnolia, Ark., and Raymond Lee Goldman of Waynesboro, Miss.; a half brother, Rickey Morley Thornton of Jena, La.; her sister, Sheila Lynn Shock of Stuttgart, Ark.; and by two grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at Greenlee Baptist Church in Pine Bluff with the Rev. Jimmy Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Pine Bluff. Martin Joseph "Marty" Taylor, 44, of Brownsville, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, at Haywood Park Community Hospital in Brownsville. Born March 8, 1959, in Cocoa Beach, Fla., he was the son of the Rev. James F. and Patricia Alewine Taylor. Mr. Taylor was a disabled veteran and retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1988. He was a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church in Brownsville and a member of Disabled American Veterans. Before going to Brownsville, he was employed as a computer programmer at the University of Tennessee. In addition to his parents, Mr. Taylor is survived by a sister, Tammy Lynn Taylor of Oak Ridge; a brother, Wayne Keith Taylor and wife, Debbie, of Lawrenceville, Ga.; three nephews, Justin Bunch, Kevin Bunch and Devin Taylor; and by several aunts, uncles, special friends and church family, including the Rev. Arnold Roberts. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with the Rev. Fred Garmon officiating with full military rites. Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Carl R. Walker, 84, of Knoxville, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at Baptist Health System. He attended Cornerstone Baptist Church and was described as a true gentleman. He was a manager for Cas Walker for 37 years and owner of Walker Midget Mart for 37 years. He was also a veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Walker, a grandson, Randy Walker and his mother, Pearl Walker. Mr. Walker is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Larry and Martha Walker, Mike and Michelle Walker, and Billy Walker; grandchildren, Rick Walker and fiancée, Jennifer Norwood, Dana Walker, Marissa Walker; two great-grandsons, Johnathon and Bailey; 76 foster children and several other family members and friends. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, in the chapel of Mynatt Funeral Home in Knoxville with the Rev. Steve Brasher officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, at Greenwood Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home for procession to the cemetery.
