    2. >From The Oak Ridger 13 Jan 2004 Marcus Cole Payne, 16, of Clinton, Dr. John Adkin Biggerstaff, 72, of Oak Ridge, Pansie Choate, 97, of Oak Ridge, Opal Bruner, 86, of Oak Ridge, Roma Carmichael, 61, of Oak Ridge, Elaine Johnson, 85, a resident of Oak Ridge, Elmer Thomas Lively, 83, of Oliver Springs, \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Marcus Cole Payne, 16, of Clinton, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center Trauma Unit. A sophomore at Clinton High School, his family said he loved playing paintball. He was a Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Braves fan. His family said he left behind many friends. He is survived by his parents, Mark and Martha Payne of Clinton; his grandparents, Ernest and Laura Payne and Pat and William McBryde, all of Clinton; his great-grandmother, Alma Graham, of Jellico; an aunt, Susan Hedden of Clinton; three uncles, Steve Payne, Henry Hedden and Don Hedden and wife, Susan, all of Clinton; five cousins, Heather Hedden, Brandon Payne and Casey Payne, all of Knoxville, Cody Payne of Clinton and Richard Hedden of Georgia; special friends, Jesse Walker, Trey McLane and Travis Davis, all of Clinton; and by many great-aunts and great-uncles. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at Memorial United Methodist Church in Clinton with the Rev. Don Thomas and the Rev. Michael Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Garden in Clinton. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to Memorial United Methodist Church, 323 N. Main St., Clinton, TN 37716. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Dr. John Adkin Biggerstaff, 72, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Sept. 10, 1931, in Berea, Ky., he was the son of Homer and Mary Margaret Lewis Biggerstaff. He earned a doctorate degree in nuclear physics from the University of Kentucky. Mr. Biggerstaff was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He retired from Oak Ridge National Laboratory in 1998. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two nephews. Mr. Biggerstaff is survived by a brother, Lewis Biggerstaff and wife, Johanne, of New Bern, N.C.; a sister, Ruth Biggerstaff Berman, of Potomac, Md.; six nieces and nephews; and by one grandniece and one grandnephew. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan 15, 2004, at Reppert Funeral Home in Berea, Ky. Burial will follow in Berea Cemetery. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to a charity of the donor's choice. The family will receive friends at noon Thursday at the funeral home. Pansie Choate, 97, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospice in Knoxville. Born Oct. 25, 1906, in Fentress County, she was the daughter of Manson Stephens and Ava Waters Stephens. She moved to Oak Ridge in 1980. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dillard H. Choate Sr.; a daughter, Willie Mae Marlow; a son, Dillard Choate Jr.; and by a grandson, Terry Marlow. Mrs. Choate is survived by a daughter, Eileen Weaver and husband, Floyd, of Knoxville; 11 grandchildren, Nancy Holloway and husband, Harold, of Rockwood, Kathy Craft and husband, Garry, and Russell A. Smith and wife, Deanna, all of Knoxville, Catina Smith of Nashville, Steven Marlow and Michael Marlow, both of New Castle, Ind., Gerald Marlow of Pennsylvania, Patrick Marlow and wife, Donna, of Straughn, Ind., Tracy Klein and husband, Jim, of Kansas City, Mo., Randy Choate of Texas, and Trent Choate and wife, Traci, of Bossier City, La.; and by several great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at Anderson Memorial Garden on the Oliver Springs Highway with the Rev. Steve Peek officiating. Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is in charge of arrangements. Opal Bruner, 86, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at Briarcliff Health Care Center. Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of arrangements, which were incomplete at press time. Roma Carmichael, 61, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, which were incomplete at press time. Elaine Johnson, 85, a resident of the Oak Ridge Retirement Community, and formerly of Sun City, Ariz., died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Elmer Thomas Lively, 83, of Oliver Springs, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
