From the Knoxville News Sentinel 30 Nov 2005 BRIGHT, THOMAS CARRA - 62, HEATHERLY, MARGARET DEAN MALICOTE McNEELEY - age 63 of LaFollette, HILL, NANCY PEARL - age 93 BRIGHT, THOMAS CARRA - 62, died Monday, November 28, 2005, after a courageous battle against leukemia. He was born November 9, 1943, in Chattanooga, Tenn., to the late James Roderick and Margrett Dunn Bright. He attended the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, where he majored in Biology. Tom then went on to complete a degree in Pharmacy at the University of Tennessee, Memphis. In 1987, Tom and wife Karen, also a pharmacist, opened Apple Discount Drugs in Clinton, Tenn., and independent, hometown drugstore that has since become a beloved fixture in the community. Tom was a member of Faith Promise Church of Knoxville where he served as a small group leader, holding Bible studies in his home. He was also a Board Member of the American Pharmacy Cooperative. When able to, Tom enjoyed playing golf, fishing, boating, and spending time with his loved ones. Tom's family and friends will remember him for his laid back personality, quiet strength and tender heart who often helped those less fortunate than himself. His loving memory will be continued by: his wife, Karen of Oak Ridge; his daughters, Emily and Lauren Bright of Oak Ridge; son Kevin Bright of Knoxville; daughter, Kellie Frazier and husband Tom of Knoxville; daughter, Becky Bright of Nashville; step-daughter, Kristi Newton and husband Daniel of Clinton; step- daughter, Lindsay George of Knoxville; granddaughter, Vivian Newton of Clinton; brother, Don Bright and wife Judy of Chattanooga; brother, Jim Bright and Maureen of Auburn, Ala.; and sister, Nancy Bright-Miller of Chattanooga. Friends and family may gather, Thursday, December 1, 6-8 pm, at Holly Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Dr. Chris Stephens will officiate. Funeral services to immediately follow. Interment will be Friday, December 2, 10 am, at Anderson Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Patrick Bright, nephew, Donnie Bright, nephew, Cary Miller, nephew, Tom Frazier, son-in-law, Early Phillips, long-time friend and Jay Insell, co-pharmacist and friend. She was born December 27, 1941 in LaFollette to the late Alvis & Lillian Baird Malicote. She was also preceded in death by: first husband, Junior McNeeley; & brother, Robert Malicote. Member of East LaFollette Baptist Church. HILL, NANCY PEARL - age 93 passed away Saturday November 26, 2005 at Appalachian Christian Village in Johnson City, where she lived since 1993. A native of Harriman, Tn, she was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William Walter Hill and had lived with them in the family home. Preceded in death by her parents, brother, W.W. Hill, Jr., sisters, Ivy Hill and Pauline Hill Massey and several cousins. Survived by nephew Charles L. Massey of Chattanooga; nieces Betsy Hill Wheeler of Knoxville and Margaret K. Massey Mayfield of Elizabethton. Nancy was active in several local organizations in Harriman and was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church. Graduate of Harriman High School and the University of Tennessee, she had a special interest in education and for more than 20 years was a devoted teacher in Harriman City School and South Harriman High School where she taught math and coached the girls' basketball team. In 1953 she was named director of the Roane County Human Services Department where she served until retirement in 1973. Graveside service 2 PM Thursday December 1, 2005 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood with Rev Nathan Williams officiating. Visitation at Kyker Funeral Home from 12 to 1 PM before the service.
