ERNEST - age 91 of Marietta, GA KENNEDY, CHARLES EDWARD "ED" - age 64, a resident of Oliver Springs, SUMMERS, IVA MARIE BRASEL - SWAN, MILDRED FOX, BURDEN, JESS WIGGINS - 88, born April 5, 1917, passed away November 22, 2005. Preceded in death by son, John Clark Burden. Graduate of Berea College, Ky. 1941 with a BS degree in Physics, Chemistry and Math. He worked on the Manhattan Project at Oak Ridge, Tenn. from 1942-1945. He completed the remainder of his career in Health Physics at Oak Ridge National Laboratories in Oak Ridge with retirement in 1975. Survived by wife, Leona Burden, Rockport, TX; son and wife, Earl and Linda Burden, Tulsa, Okla.; daughter, Shirley Burden McLaughlin, Ashville, NC; daughter, Mary Joyce Burden VanWechel and husband, Steve, Portland, Ore; and daughter, Jane Burden Krueger and husband, Darryl, Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Christopher Burden, Rockport, Monica Burden Burgin, Birmingham, Ala, Joseph, Makayla & Jessica VanWechel, Portland, Ore., Deanna Green Hopkins, Greenville, SC; great grandchildren, Ash and Kai Burden, Rockport, TX, John Blake Burgin, Birmingham, Ala. Mr. Burden and his wife, Leona recently moved to Rockport, TX to live with his grandson, Chris & Tonia Burden. Previously they lived in the Claxton Community for 60 years during which their lives were enriched by their many wonderful neighbors, friends in the Knoxville area and professional colleagues in Oak Ridge. Mr. Burden will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Preceded in death by parents, Carl and Effie Fielden and a brother, Ronnie Fielden. Survivors: wife, Wanda Price Fielden of Clinton; sons, Jamie and his wife, Cari Fielden of Clinton, Dallas Fielden of Clinton; grandchildren, Hunter, Riley, Sabra and Skylar Fielden all of Clinton; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Mr. Hackney was born in Harriman & was a graduate of Harriman High School. He was with the US Forest Service during the 1930's. Lived & worked in manufacturing in Oak Ridge, Huntsville, Al, Albertville, AL & Miami, FL. He retired in Marietta, GA. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Martin Hackney; parents, Elmer & Mabel Hackney; 2 brothers & 3 sisters. Mr. Kennedy was born October 1, 1941 in Knoxville. He has lived in Roane County for 9 years. Ed was a retired truck driver, a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, James P. Kennedy and Willie Mae Felker Kennedy, by a sister, Anna Lowe and by one brother, Bobby Kennedy. Surrounded by her family at her home in Joyner , went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 24, 2005. She enjoyed quilting and working in her flower garden. She was a lifelong member of Union Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jesse Summers; sister, Helen Hawn; brothers, Claude, Roy and Nathan Brasel. SWAN, MILDRED FOX, born June 24, 1906 in Knox County, died November 23, 2005 at the Farragut Health Care Center in Knox County. Mildred was 99 years old. She was a graduate of Farragut High School and retired as a long- standing employee at Union Carbide X-10 plant in Oak Ridge after many years. Mildred was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Watt Swan; her second husband, Harry McKenzie; her daughter, Barbara Swan Guinn; her grandson, John Paul Guinn; her parents, William Ethel Fox and Mary Russell Fox and her brother J.K. Fox. She is survived by her two sons Paul R. Swan and wife Helen of Farragut; Bill J. Swan and wife Lillian of Concord, NC; six grandchildren, Brenda Swan Hammill of Washington, DC, CAPT Kenneth A.
