From the Knoxville News Sentinel 15 Nov 2005 BROOKS, STEVE LARRY - age 60 of Norris, TN, formerly of Knoxville, DOTSON, ANDREA SUE - age 62 of Lake City, TN, ELAM, JAMES MICHAEL "MIKE" - 48 of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, MOODY, SAMUEL T. - age 79 of Wartburg, ORAN, ROBERT H. - age 75 of Harriman, TAYLOR, ETHEL ANGEL - age 94 of LaFollette, BROOKS, STEVE LARRY - age 60 of Norris, TN, formerly of Knoxville, went on to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, November 12 at 8:06 pm after a long battle with cancer. Staff Sgt. Steve Larry Brooks was a disabled veteran from the Vietnam War while serving in the United States Army from 1967 to 1972. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam and received numerous medals and ribbons. Larry is a member of Broadway Baptist Church in Knoxville, but attended Big Mountain Baptist Church. He is also a member of the First Calvary Division Association, VFW Post 1733, and American Legion Post 2. He is preceded in death by: his parents, Raymond and Margaret Brooks Thompson; brother, Gordon D. Brooks; and sister, Margaret Elizabeth Brooks Killon. Left to cherish his memory are: his son, Gordon Raymond Brooks of Andersonville, TN; daughter, Margaret Marie Brooks; granddaughter, Cheyenne of Knoxville; devoted sister, Theresa "Tess" McAfee of Andersonville, TN; other sisters, Connie Kidwell of Knoxville, Carrie Lou Smith of Huntingdon, TN and Barbara Selke of Ronney, West Virginia; brothers, Gene E. Brooks and Charles Barry Brooks, both of Knoxville; precious and loyal companion, his dog Suzie; with great admiration, his nephew Spencer Jared Lambert; and devoted friend, Thelma Patterson of Oliver Springs, TN. She was a member of the Guiding Star Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with her family and friends. She is preceded in death by: husband, Bobby Jack Dotson; her parents, Chesley and Carrie Kindred Jackson; sisters, Betty Scymanski and Wilma Wilson. ELAM, JAMES MICHAEL "MIKE" - 48 of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, died on November 7, 2005 in Los Angeles, California. Mike was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on July 19, 1957 to parents James Donald and Audrey Wagner Elam. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and enjoyed music, especially playing the guitar. Mr. Elam received his BA Degree, 1982, University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia, MA Degree, 1987, University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri, Ph. D. Degree, 1993, University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri. Work Experience, Research Assistant Professor in Anthropology, University of Tennessee, for the last 10 years. Preceded in death by: maternal grandparents, Aubrey J. and Dorothea Wagner; paternal grandparents, James and Betty Elam; uncle, Karl Edward Wagner. Survivors include: parents, J. Sam was born in Harriman and was preceded in death by: his parents, Jess and Florence Turpin Moody; his brothers, Herschel, Bob, J.T., Homer and Lloyd Moody; and his sister, Beatrice Parrish. He served four years in the U.S. Navy at the hospital in Hawaii during World War II and was employed by Sherwin-Williams Co. in Harriman for more than 35 years. He attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wartburg.
