From the Knoxville News sentinel 11 Nov 2005 BABB, GEORGE WASHINGTON - GOLDSTON, RONALD DAVE - age 58 of Crossville, Tenn., LEE, BONNIE GARREN - age 90 of Oak Ridge, BABB, GEORGE WASHINGTON - born February 22, 1918, died at NHC Health Center November 9, 2005. George, a native of Loudon, TN, is preceded in death by: his parents, Viola Katherine Snyder and William Christopher Columbus Babb; his brothers, W.C., Robert, Malcolm, William, Alfred Ray; and sisters, Jennie Arlena Vincent, Mary Louise Davis, Clara Francis (Brownie) Swiney; and twin sister, Martha Early. Graduated from Loudon County High School and attended and played football at Tennessee Wesleyan, Tennessee Military Institute, the University of Tennessee, and Southwestern University. He enlisted in the U.S. Army May, 1942 where he served in England and at Normandy, France in the D-Day+3 invasion and was honorably discharged as 1st Sergeant October 1945 after receiving a Good Conduct Medal and EAME Service Medal and ETO Service Ribbon. He returned to Loudon before moving to Oak Ridge, TN in 1948 where he worked for 42 years with the Atomic Energy Commission (now known as the Department of Energy). He was a 54 year member of the First United Methodist Church where he served faithfully as an usher and a charter member of the Men's Bible Class. His passion was sports with an emphasis on football. George was a dedicated high school football official with the TSSAA for 40 years and was inducted into the Oak Ridge Sports Hall of Fame in 1992. He is preceded in death by: the love of his life, wife, Frankie Jeanette Ridings Babb, to whom he was married for 50 years. He is survived by: three daughters, Kathy Woodson and her husband Bob Woodson of Knoxville; Vicki Hall and her husband Bob Hall of Knoxville; Connie Papp and her husband Jeff Papp of Tega Cay, South Carolina; his grandchildren, Andrew Thurman, New York, New York, Tina Grzep and her husband Chris Grzep, Sarasota, FL; Matthew Woodson and his wife, Meredith Woodson; Kristie Fain Rowan and her husband Tim Rowan; Alicia Fain and Fred Hall all of Knoxville; Joshua Babb Hassler and his wife, Stephanie, Flowery Branch, GA; and Kaitlyn Pierson, Tega Cay, South Carolina; great grandchildren, Syndey and Casey Grzep, Ella and Thomas Woodson, Macon and Emma Rowan; Brenleigh and Bishop Hassler. He is also survived by: his sister, Toni Alsbury of OR; and special niece, Bettye Gilliland, Knoxville, TN; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Aileen and Duane Bennett of Oak Ridge; Joe and Nancy Ridings, Knoxville; Linda Ridings, Huntsville, AL, Clarence Vincent, Chattanooga; and Robert and Helen Ridings of Lake Worth, FL Pallbearers will be: Bob Woodson, Matthew Woodson, Josh Hassler, Tim Rowan, Fred Hall, and Jeff Papp. A special thank you to Kathryn Carr and the angels of Unique Sitters and to the staff of NHC Farragut for their loving care. GOLDSTON, RONALD DAVE - age 58 of Crossville, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2005. He was born April 22, 1947, in Wartburg, Tenn., son of Frances (Monhollon) & John D. Goldston. Member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Crossville, employed at Wal-mart of Rockwood for 13 years in maintenance. Survived by wife, Sandra Goldston of Crossville; son & daughter in law, Michael & Abby Goldston of Oakdale, Tenn.; daughter, Wanda Goldston of Bristol, Tenn.; brother, Larry Goldston of Oakdale; brother, Johnny Goldston of Crossville; sister, Donna Nelson of Westel, Tenn. He was preceded in death by: mother, Frances (Monhollon) Goldston; father, John D. Goldston. The family will receive friends Friday, November 11, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. at Bilbrey Funeral Home. LEE, BONNIE GARREN - age 90 of Oak Ridge, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at the Methodist Medical Center, after an extended illness. She was born May 27, 1915 in Polk County, TN, the daughter of Lee and Chessie Tilson Garren. She came to Oak Ridge in 1944 with her husband and daughter and worked as a beautician during the 1940's and 1950's. She was a long-time member of Robertsville Baptist Church and a member of the Oak Ridge Chapter #390 of the Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: daughter, Bobbie Neal Collier of Oak Ridge; sisters, Roxie Robinson, Beulah Garren and Geneva Baker; and brothers, Homer Garren and Joe Dean Garren. She is survived by: her loving husband of 72 years, Orion C. Lee; 2 grandsons, Thomas Collier of Oak Ridge and Bill Collier and wife Caroline of Farragut; 2 great grandchildren, Kim Collier and Lee Collier of Farragut; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Estelle Garren of Chattanooga; sister, Marie Johnston of Lupton City; sisters-in-law, Alda Rymer of Oak Ridge and Wilma Garren of Delano. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Jeff Bowles and Dr. Alex Alexander, along with their staffs for the many years of care, friendship and support they have provided her. The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 11, 2005 at 8:00pm at Weatherford Mortuary with Rev. Mark Cayson officiating.
