From the Oak Ridger 2 Nov 2005 Patricia "Nana" Bryson, 76, a resident of Powell in the Claxton community, Carmen Leila Lindsey, 57, of Oliver Springs, Eva Roop, 74, of Clinton, Patricia "Nana" Bryson, 76, a resident of Powell in the Claxton community, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, at St. Mary's Residential Hospice in Halls. She was born Sept. 6, 1929, in Beebe, Ark. She was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School and was a licensed practical nurse, working for the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, retiring after 23 years of service. Pat was a passionate reader and treasured her collection of books. Her Christian faith sustained her through the loss of both her first husband, John Stephens, and her parents, Pat and Trudy Barker, who were killed in 1954; she was also preceded in death by her daughters, Rebecca Blair, a lawyer who died in 1998, and Janet Myers, a licensed practical nurse who died in 2003; also one sister, Anita Barker. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Lloyd Gerald Bryson of Powell; daughters, Karen Kirby and husband, Kelly of Clinton, and Lee McGetrick and husband, Dennis of Clinton; grandchildren, Melissa, John and Michael Thornton, Austin Stepp, Bryson Blair, and Jay Myers; step-son, Keith Penland and wife, Pat of Georgia; son-in-law, Jim Myers of Halls; sister, Jean Schweitzer and husband, Ray of Clinton; beloved nephew, Gary Barker of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a host of friends; the two most special were Kim Thomas and Becky Huff, both of Clinton. The family extends a special thanks to St. Mary's Residential Hospice and their wonderful, caring staff. Cremation was Pat's request and the family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is in charge of all the arrangements. Carmen Leila Lindsey, 57, of Oliver Springs, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at her home. She was born Dec. 12, 1947, in Humacha, Puerto Rico. Mrs. Lindsey retired from Oak Ridge Associated Universities where she was a program specialist. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling and reading. She was preceded in death by her father, Cedric E. D'Aponte, who died Oct. 7, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Robert Steven Lindsey; her mother, Hilda Roig D'Aponte of Oak Ridge; her daughter, Alexis Thurmer of Oliver Springs; step-daughters, Shandra Shaw and husband Robert of Burleson, Texas, and Stephanie Lindsey of Gainesville, Fla.; step-brother, Timothy Lindsey of Gainesville, Fla.; mother-in-law, Betty Jean Lindsey of Millington, Tenn.; sister, Rosa H. Beeves and husband Terry of Ione, Calif.; and step-grandchildren, Corbin Shaw and Reaghan Shaw of Burleson, Texas. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Cantrell and the Rev. Michael Woods officiating. She will be interred in the memorial garden of the First United Methodist Church. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to National Ovarian Cancer Collation Inc., 500 NE Spanish River Blvd., Suite #8, Boca Rotan, FL 33431. The family will receive friends on Friday at the church from 2 to 3 p.m. Weatherford Mortuary is handling the arrangements. An on-line guest book can be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com. Eva Roop, 74, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, at Baptist Hospital West.
