From The Oak Ridger 25 Nov 2005 Lillie Bell Herrington Cobble, age 101, Gretchel Hall, age 88, of Kingston, Charles Edward "Ed" Kennedy, age 64, a resident of Oliver Springs, Daniel "Dan" Allen Normand, age 47, of Oak Ridge, Junior Hawkins Burney, age 82, a resident of Oliver Springs Connie L. Judd, age 45, a resident of the Dyllis community in Roane County, Lillie Bell Herrington Cobble, age 101, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005. She was born July 2, 1904, in Simpson County, Ky., to Ben Franklin Herrington and Zula Bostic Herrington. In April 1948 she married Ernest Alvin Cobble, and they spent 23 wonderful years of marriage together before he preceded her in death. She "loved life to the fullest" and bowled in two leagues into her 90's. She loved raising tomatoes and muscadines and making homemade jams for family and friends, even the very summer that she turned 100! She moved from her home at 110 Tabor Road in Oak Ridge, Tenn., to Asbury at Baysmont in Kingsport, Tenn., in December 2004 where she maintained her "feisty" attitude that kept family and staff laughing and on their toes. She is survived by one stepson, Raymond Cobble and wife, Ernestine, of Knoxville, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Vivian Ripley and husband, Bo, of Kingsport, Tenn.; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two nephews, Robert and Herman Richmond; one niece, Lillie B. Wood; and her devoted caregivers, Pat Connell and the Woods family of Oak Ridge, Tenn. The family will receive friends at Sinking Springs Lutheran Church Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held at Sinking Springs Lutheran Church in Midway, Tenn., on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. with Pastor Ed Wolff. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Sinking Springs Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, c/o J. P. She was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by husband of 57 years, William Lee Hall; mother and father, Alice and Rice Crass; 10 brothers and sisters; two daughters; four sons-in-law; and four grandchildren. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanette and Andy Worley of Harriman, Jeanice and Jim Alexander of Hampton, Ga., Onelda and Bob Combs of Oliver Springs; daughter, Sue Braden of Oliver Springs; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, in the Kyker Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Nickell and the Rev. Robbie Leach officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kingston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston. Charles Edward "Ed" Kennedy, age 64, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mr. Kennedy was born Oct. 1, 1941, in Knoxville. He had lived in Roane County for nine years. Ed was a retired truck driver, a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, James P. Kennedy and Willie Mae Felker Kennedy; by a sister, Anna Lowe; and by one brother, Bobby Kennedy. Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Barbara Ollis Kennedy of Oliver Springs; son, Martin Kennedy and wife Jenny of Fairland, Okla.; daughter, Jennifer Kennedy of Knoxville; step children, Judy Brown and husband Michael of Oliver Springs, David McCarroll and wife Debbie of Tacoma, Wash., Ron Arms of Knoxville, and Charles Arms and wife Darlena of St. Charles, Mo.; grandson, Ronnie Kennedy of Fairland, Okla.; step grandchildren, Kyle and Leah McCarroll of Cookeville, Kara Brown of Oliver Springs, and Avery, Adam and Anna Arms, all of St. Charles, Mo.; brothers, Jim Kennedy and wife Barbara of Maryville, John Kennedy and wife Sue of Knoxville, and Tom Kennedy and wife Glenda of Friendsville; sisters, Liz Fallis of Knoxville, Marge Davenport of Knoxville, and Charlotte Swafford and husband Frank of Corryton. The family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David Christopher officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Orchard View Cemetery in Oliver Springs. Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is in charge of the arrangements. Daniel "Dan" Allen Normand, age 47, of Oak Ridge, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005. Dan was born and raised in Oak Ridge where he resided most of his life. Dan loved to hunt and fish, and due to his superior sportsmanship he was often called "Hunter Dan." Dan was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Normand, and his stepfather, Eugene L. Joyce, and he is survived by his mother, Vivian McKenzie Normand Joyce, and the pride of his life, his son Jake Allen Normand. Dan is also survived by his two brothers, Charles Steven "Steve" Normand and James "Jim" T. Normand, Jim's wife Mary, two nephews, James and Elliott, a niece Stephanie, stepdaughter, Liza, and her mother, Rebecca; his two stepsisters, Lisa Joyce and her son, Michael, and Lori Joyce Lynn and her two children, Bryan and Dana; and several aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom loved him dearly. Dan's grandparents were T.A. and Gertrude McKenzie and C.E. "Doc" and Hazel Normand. His grandparents and parents all came to Oak Ridge in 1943, and Dan graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1976. He attended ETSU before entering the work force at Alcoa and then Boeing. Dan always brought a smile to the faces of all around him. He will be sadly missed. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with a funeral service at 3 p.m. and interment to follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
