From the Knoxville News sentinel 7 Nov 2005 BURROUGHS, IRENE BURTON SORRELL - age 89, of Kingston, formerly of Clinton, TN, MASSENGILL, BETTY JEAN - 76 of Powell, RAGLAND, REBECCA JOYCE - 91 years old of Oliver Springs, VOWELL, TYLER W. - 19 of Knoxville, formerly of Lake City, Clear Branch Community, BURROUGHS, IRENE BURTON SORRELL - age 89, of Kingston, formerly of Clinton, TN, passed away Sunday November 6, 2005 at Parkwest Hospital. Born July 8, 1916 in Jackson County, Tennessee to the late Rufus Earnest and Ethel Lee Butler Burton. She was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed gardening, cross-stitch, and was a seamstress. Preceded in death by: her parents; and her husband, Walden Park Burroughs; a brother and sister-in-law, Obie and Lillian Burton; and a brother-in-law, Paul Smith. Survived by: her daughter, Linda Poole and husband Buddy M. Poole, Jr. of Kingston; and two sons, Robert D. Sorrell and wife Annie Ray of Watertown, TN and Ray T. Sorrell and wife Marie of Hermitage, TN. She is also survived by: two sisters, Bettye Black and husband Roy Eugene of Nashville, TN, Ruby Smith of Lake Worth, FL; grandchildren, Chris Sorrell and wife Athalia, Keith Sorrell and wife Tamara, and Ann Bogle and husband Billy; great-grandchildren, Wendy, Cameron, Chesley, Taylor, Ashley, Allison, Amanda, Crystal, and Melissa. Funeral service will be Monday November 7, 2005 at 7:00 pm in the Chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Mayle officiating. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 10 am at Anderson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends form 5-7 Monday at the funeral home. MASSENGILL, BETTY JEAN - 76 of Powell, died at St. Mary's Residential Hospice on November 5, 2005. She was born in Knoxville on February 22, 1929 to parents Fleming and Bertha Cantrell. Mrs. Massengill was a member of South Clinton Baptist Church and retired in 1992 from ORTEC as an electronics inspector. Survivors include: husband, Louis A. Massengill, Powell; sons, Wayne McGhee and wife Brenda, Harriman, Roger Douglas McGhee, Oliver Springs, Thomas Darrell McGhee, Las Vegas; brothers, Bill Cantrell, Knoxville, Clarence Cantrell, Mesquite, Texas; sisters, Mary Potter and husband Arnold, Knoxville, Mildred Johnson, Kodak; grandchildren, Cindy Stout and husband John, Oliver Springs, April Daugherty and husband Steve, Harriman, Edward McGhee, Florida, Michelle McGhee, Texas; 3 great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews The funeral service will be held tonight at 8 pm with Rev. Tom Lee and Dr. Roger Pugh assisting. The graveside service will be held on Tuesday, 2:30 pm at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8 pm at Weatherford Mortuary. RAGLAND, REBECCA JOYCE - 91 years old of Oliver Springs, passed away Friday, November 4, 2005 at Briarcliff Health Care Center in Oak Ridge. Her family will receive friends at Oliver Springs Mortuary on Monday, November 7, 2005 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. November 7, 2005 at Anderson Memorial Gardens, 640 Oliver Springs Hwy, Clinton, TN. Oliver Springs Mortuary will be in charge of all arrangements. REEVES, HAZEL COLLINS - age 86, died Saturday afternoon, November 5, 2005 at her North Knoxville home. She was a member of Faith Temple Church of God and the widow of Thomas Edward Reeves. She is survived by: her daughter, Linda Bright of Knoxville; son, Thomas Noel Reeves of Knoxville; sister, Elsie Collins; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Family and friends will meet at the main entrance to Greenwood Cemetery Tuesday for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service with Rev. David Barkley officiating. VOWELL, TYLER W. - 19 of Knoxville, formerly of Lake City, Clear Branch Community, passed away November 3, 2005, in Knoxville. He was born in Oak Ridge, TN on February 17, 1986. Tyler enjoyed playing baseball, racing, swimming, and formerly played in the Anderson County High School Band. He was a member of Clinch River Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by: grandfathers, Ulys Vowell and Elmer Seivers.
