From the Oak ridger 14 Nov 2005 Ronald "Ronnie" Allan Carroll, 45, a resident of Oliver Springs, Robert Paul "Bob" Delagrange, 71, of Spotsylvania County, Va., Della Edna Groff, Roy Chestley Johnston Jr., 79, of Oak Ridge, Leiron Parrott McNabb, 74, of Oak Ridge, Violet Lee Strickland, 49, a resident of Oliver Springs, Ronald "Ronnie" Allan Carroll, 45, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born Oct. 30, 1960, in Bedford, Ohio, moving to Tennessee in 1961, and had been living in Oliver Springs since that time. Ronnie was a member of Grave Hill Baptist Church, and was an avid sports fan including professional football and fishing. He was preceded in death by his mother, Willie Mae Goad Carroll, and one sister, Donna Carroll. Survivors include his father, Sherman Carroll and wife, Opal of Oliver Springs; brother, Ricky Carroll and wife, Kim of Oliver Springs; niece, Allison Carroll of Oliver Springs; nephew, Adam Carroll of Oliver Springs; and a host of extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at Sharp Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Charlie Marlow officiating. The burial and graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at the Oliver Springs Cemetery. Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is in charge of all arrangements. Robert Paul "Bob" Delagrange, 71, of Spotsylvania County, Va., died Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at Mary Washington Hospital. Mr. Delagrange was born in New London, Conn., on Dec. 5, 1933. He served in the Air Force and played on the Misawa Japan Air Force Base football team in the mid-1950s. He was a graduate of California State, Northridge. He had worked as a mechanical engineer in many government shipyards, nuclear facilities, and research laboratories. Bob and his wife were welcomed to Spotsylvania after losing their home in Ocean Springs to Hurricane Katrina. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Ellen Delagrange; one daughter, Anne Ellison and her husband Larry; one son, Paul Delagrange and his wife Roni; one sister, Patricia Robertson and her husband David and their daughters, Lia and Rachel. Bob was especially proud of his four grandchildren, Robyn, Chandler, Paul Jr., and Hannah Marie. A service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Kent D. Rahm officiating. Burial will follow in Quantico National Cemetery. She leaves behind her husband, Forrest Groff of Springfield, Ore.; sons, Thayne and wife Glenda of Brookings, Ore., and Arnold and wife Kim of Oak Ridge; daughters, Elaine Lohman of Eugene, Ore., Flora Lynn Perry and husband Dave of Missouri; local grandchildren, Christopher Groff and wife Virginia, John Groff and wife Holly, Whitney Groff and Addison Groff; and five great-grandchildren. The service was held Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, in Springfield, Ore. Roy Chestley Johnston Jr., 79, of Oak Ridge, died on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born on June 28, 1926, in Etowah, Tenn., to parents Roy Chestley Johnston Sr. and Cullie Elizabeth Clendenen Johnston. He was a World War II veteran with the U.S. Navy. Roy came to Oak Ridge in 1959, from Cleveland, Tenn. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Machinist Union Local 480, and the Oak Ridge Sportsman Association, and his hobbies included woodworking, fishing and hunting, and NASCAR racing. Mr. Johnston retired as a machinist at the Y-12 facility. Survivors include his wife, Mattie Biggs Johnston; and son, Tim Johnston and wife, Tina, all of Oak Ridge; daughter, Debbie Brandon and husband, Charles, of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; and grandchildren, Matt Johnston and Kaleb and Jessica Russell. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Duncan Rankin officiating. Interment will be at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family requests that memorials be in the form of donations to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 190 Manhattan Avenue, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of arrangements Leiron Parrott McNabb, 74, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was born May 31, 1931, in Pickett County, Tenn., the daughter of Herman and Ermon Parris Parrott. Mrs. McNabb graduated from Pickett County High School and from Tennessee Tech in 1953 with a degree in vocational home economics education. In 1955, she moved to Oak Ridge with her husband. She received her master's in education from the University of Tennessee. She taught special education for 20 years, earning the Level III teacher designation, and was named Roane County Teacher of the Year. She was a member of Kern United Methodist Church for 50 years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McNabb was preceded in death by brother, Harold Parrott of Columbia, and brother-in-law, R. D. Lee of Battle Creek, Mich. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Jim McNabb; children, Vicki Black and her husband, Joe of Duluth, Ga., and Alan McNabb and his wife Jane of Decatur, Ga.; grandsons, Joseph Black, John McNabb, Daniel McNabb and David McNabb; sister-in-law, Claudell Parrott of Columbia; brothers, Clay Parrott and wife Shirley of Farragut, and Gene Parrott and wife Mary Lou of Knoxville; sisters, Evelyn Lee of Battle Creek, Mich., and Ann Smith and husband Will Herman Smith of Antioch, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Gary Wells, his staff and the nurses and staff of the Methodist Medical Center for their care, friendship and support provided for Mrs. McNabb over the years. Funeral services are Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Mark Flynn officiating. The burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Violet Lee Strickland, 49, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mrs. Strickland was born June 26, 1956, in Maryville. She lived in Hazard, Ky., for 23 years before moving to Oliver Springs in 2002. She was an auxiliary member of the D.A.V. Chapter 26 of Oliver Springs, the Vietnam Veterans Auxiliary, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary of Hazard, Ky., and she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star of Hazard, Ky. Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Dewayne and Carolyn Strickland; by her parents, Earl Lane Jr. and Reba Ann Byous Lane; and by a brother, Tommy Lane. Survivors include her husband, Elbert Strickland of Oliver Springs; daughters, Tammy Rector and husband Robert of Rutherford College, N.C., Brandy Strickland and fiance Michael L. Robertson of Clinton; son, James Strickland and wife Barbara of Longview, N.C.; grandchildren, Sara Strickland, Kayla Strickland, Ryan Strickland, Kyle Childers, Lucas Rector, Michael J. Robertson, and Brandon Robertson; brother, Stacy Stillwell and wife Wanda of Maryville; sisters, Frances Brown and husband Thomas of Maryville, and Joyce Stillwell of Maryville; sister-in-law, Pamela Lane of Maryville. She is also survived by a host of extended family members and special friends.
