From The Oak Ridger 10 Jan 2006 Rodney Darryl Bowen, 69, of Oak Ridge, Dora Wrinn Watkins, age 93, of Oak Ridge and formerly of Loudon, Juanita G. Gerger, 88, of Oak Ridge, Rodney Darryl Bowen, 69, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born July 13, 1936, in Langland, Ala. Mr. Bowen graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1954. After serving in the U.S. Navy and graduating from the University of Tennessee, he worked as a case worker for the state of Illinois in Rockford, Ill. He returned to Oak Ridge in 1991. He is survived by his mother, Rubye Bowen of Oak Ridge; his daughter and son-in-law, Lissa and Ed Garver of Spillville, Iowa; his grandchildren, Michael Garver of Spillville, Iowa, and Nicole Garver of Rockford, Ill.; his sister and her husband, Susan and Dana Coleman, and his nephew Paul Ryon of Oak Ridge. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in his name. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. Dora Wrinn Watkins, age 93, of Oak Ridge and formerly of Loudon, passed away Sunday evening, Jan. 8, 2006, at Shannondale Retirement Center in Knoxville. Mrs. Watkins was a faithful member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge. She was a homemaker and in earlier years was employed with Genesco Hosiery Mills. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Alexander; son, Jim Mike Watkins, an infant daughter, two brothers and five sisters. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Ray Aileen and Bill Morris of Tallahassee, Fla., and Mrs. Bauman (Glada) Alexander of Knoxville; grandchildren, Mike Watkins, Jeff Watkins, Leigh Ann Henry, Kris Wahlen, Teresa Reineke, Andrea Morris, Bauman Alexander III, Roy Alexander and Ray Alexander; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge with the Rev. Aldana Allen officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall where light refreshments will also be served. Interment will follow in Corinth Cemetery in Loudon at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Watkins to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 320 Robertsville Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830, or to the Methodist Men's Scholarship Fund, c/o Loudon United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 342, Loudon, TN 37774. The body will lie in state from 10:30 - 11 a.m. Thursday prior to the service at the Trinity United Methodist Church. McGill-Karnes Funeral Home in Loudon is in charge of the arrangements. Juanita G. Gerger, 88, of Oak Ridge, died at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge on Monday, Jan. 9, 2006.
