WHITE, DAVID C. - age 88 of Kingston COPELAND, ZONIA PAUL JOHNSON - age 82, of Lake City, TN, passed away January 5, 2006, at St. Mary's Medical Center of Knoxville. She was born June 12, 1923. She was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church. She enjoyed flowers and spending time with family and friends. She is preceded in death by: husbands, Carlos Johnson and James Copeland; parents, Maynard and Hester Smith Paul; brothers, Harry & Marion Paul; sister, Maria Sweeney; grandson, Devin Michael Shetterly. NEER, CATHERINE - age 36, of Clinton, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at her residence. She was a member of Black Oak Baptist Church where she was very active in the nursery, Bible school, singing her favorite solos, "He's Alive" during Easter service and "My Redeemer Lives" in other church services, president of W.O.M and very involved in the church's Anderson County Fair booth where money raised went toward church mission trips. She graduated from Clinton High School where she was active in the band and was drum major her senior year. She received her masters degree from The University of Tennessee and then became a math teacher at Clinton High School. She was very committed to helping her students excel in life as well as with their education. Survivors: husband, Shane Neer of Clinton; son, Michael Neer; daughters, Caitlyn and Courtney Neer of Clinton; parents, Jack and Brenda Shelton of Clinton; brothers, Danny Shelton, Tim Shelton & wife Dara, Joe Shelton & wife Alicia all of Clinton; father & mother-in-law, Clyde and Patsy Neer of Lake City; sisters-in-law, Tammy Greene of Lake City, Teal Barber & husband Mark of Frost Bottom Community; grandfather, Bill Cross of Jonesborough; 5 nieces; 1 nephew; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. JEAN DYER - of Wartburg, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2006 at her home. She was preceded in death by parents; Mitt and Elsie Dyer, brothers; Alex, Bill and Bernard Dyer. sister; Reba and two infant daughters; Pauline and Minnie Lee. She is survived by her husband, Burl Newport; sons, Harold and Kenneth Newport; daughter, Berlene; grandchildren, Melissa, Mark and Shane; brother, Herman Dyer. The family will receive friends Friday evening, January 6, 2006 from 6-8:00, Schubert Funeral Home Wartburg, Tn. Funeral services will follow visitation with Elder Kenneth Robbins officiating. Graveside services will be January 7, 2006, 11:00 a.m. in Macedonia Church cemetery. POWERS, HERMAN O. - age 70, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at his residence. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church and a veteran of the United States Air Force. Herman was the owner and operator of Express Way Texaco in Brownsville, Texas from 1973-1986. Herman is preceded in death by parents, Andy and Lillie Chambers Powers; daughter, Debra Powers; sister, Lucille Williams; brother, Chester Powers. Survivors: wife, Pat Powers of Clinton; children, Duwayne Powers & wife Elizabeth of Knoxville, Sandi Carr & husband Matthew of Knoxville, Tyrone Powers of Brownsville, Darrell Powers of Clinton, Herman O. Powers Jr. & wife Sandra of Brownsville; grandchildren, Herman O Powers III, Brittany Powers, Alyson Carr, Caroline Carr, Gabrielle Powers, and Duwayne Powers Jr.; brothers, Jim Powers & wife Ruby of Clinton, Joe Powers & wife Evelyn of Clinton, Bob Powers & wife Mary of Kentucky, James Powers & wife Tutti of Jellico; several nieces and nephews. WARD, CECILE - age 83 of Kingston, formerly of Pinellas Park, FL., passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at the Methodist Medical Center. Worked at Scotty's Hardware in Pinellas Park and Seminole for more than 20 years. Active member of the First Baptist Church in Kingston, TN. Returned to Tennessee after retirement to be closer to her sisters and brothers. Enjoyed reading ,jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her family. Preceded in death by: her parents, Jim and Millie Cantwell; husbands, Harvey McClanahan, Marshall Faircloth, and Charles Ward; sons, Ronald and Tommy; and brothers, Donald, J L "Doc", Franklin Dale, and Dean. WHITE, DAVID C. - age 88 of Kingston passed away Wednesday January 4, 2006 at the Roane Medical Center. He was a member of the Kingston United Methodist Church, retired from ORNL in 1986, served as a member of the Navy Seabees during WWII and had formerly served for several years on the Kingston Public Library Board and the Fort Loudon Regional Library Board. Survivors include: wife Glenora White of Kingston; children Diana Cain of Kalamazoo, MI, Judy Kincaid of Kingston, Jennie Manneschmidt of Knoxville, Greg Bartley of Mount Juliet, TN; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Memorial service 6 pm Saturday January 7, 2006 in the Kyker Chapel with Rev. Michelle Buckles officiating.
