Celia Jane Cross , 98, of Smokey Juct.,passed away on Wed. Jan 15, 2003, at the Scott County Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Franklin Massengale and the Late Mary Jane Massengale and also preceded in death by her husband Andrew Cross; five brothers, Esau, Levi, Laford, Elmer, and McKinley; five sisters, Elizabeth Cross, Sylvania Harness, Louella Bunch, Vianna Carroll, and Dora Carroll; and one son-in -law, Rev. Leon Byrd. She had been a member of Corinth Baptist Church since 1924. Mrs. Cross is survived by her children, Minnie Byrd of Huntsville, and Maudie Lowe and husband Roland of Smokey Jct; two sisters, Linda Lowe of Smokey Creek and Locie Hembree of Huntsville; ten grandchildren; 15 great-greandchildren ; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 1 p.m. at the River View Missionary Baptist church, with Bro. Roland Massengale officiating. Special music was provided by the Mason Family.
