From The Oak Ridger 5 Jan 2006 Mary Jerline Dye, age 71, of Oak Ridge, Anna Kendall Gunderson, age 85, of Oak Ridge, Evelyn Watson King, 83, of Oak Ridge Mary Jerline Dye, age 71, of Oak Ridge, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Sarah Etta Long Jones; son, Robert H. Dye; and brothers, Marshall, Ralph, Clyde, and Charlie Jr. Jones. Survivors include her sisters, Elizabeth Jones of Clinton, Stella Jones of Clinton, and Helen Rust of Huntsville, Ala.; a brother, Ray Jones of Deltona, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will have a graveside service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. Anna Kendall Gunderson, age 85, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 4, 2006, at her home in Oak Ridge Retirement Community. She was born on May 3, 1920, in Peru, Ind., to John Wesley Kendall and Agnes Lonsdale Kendall. She grew up in Marion, Ind., and moved to Indianapolis during World War II, where she worked for the Farmers Home Administration, and where she met and married Carl Sofus Gunderson. They moved to Oak Ridge in 1953, where Anna was actively and creatively involved in school and scouting activities with her two daughters. In later years, she joined the YWCA book and needlecraft clubs, and took Tai Chi and yoga lessons. She participated in many activities and classes at the Oak Ridge Retirement Center, and particularly enjoyed crafts and artistic expressions. She was a member of the Loudon United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, and a sister. She is survived by her brother, Forest M. Kendall of Nappanee, Ind.; daughters, Johanna, of Alexandria, Va., and Carla and her husband, John McCarthy, of Loudon, Tenn. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Methodist Medical Foundation, Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program, 990 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37930, or the Holston United Methodist Home for Children, P.O. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Weatherford Mortuary in Oak Ridge, Tenn., with a memorial service immediately following at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Evelyn Watson King, 83, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at NHC HealthCare Center. She was born Jan. 12, 1922, in Macon, Ga., the daughter of William J. and Katie Mae O'Neal Watson. Mrs. King was a homemaker and a member of Central Baptist Church, where she was active in the choir, served as a Sunday School teacher, the Girls Auxiliary leader and a library aide. She also retired from Willow Brook Elementary School, where she worked as a teacher's aide. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Gwendolyn Hatmaker. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Thomas A. King; son, Richard A. King and wife, Linda, of Oak Ridge; daughter, Willa Cree and husband, Bruce Millard, of Gilbert, Ariz.; grandchildren, Nghia and Ahn Millard of Gilbert, Ariz., Kate Long and Edward Hatmaker Jr., both of Virginia Beach, Va., and Bambi Mumma of Las Vegas, Nev. Funeral services are at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Bob Gray officiating. Graveside services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
