From The Oak Ridger 27 Jan 2006 Ronson Mitchell, age 50, a resident of Oliver Springs, Juanita Mullins, age 84, of Oak Ridge, Chester Richmond Ronson Mitchell, age 50, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at his home. He was born Oct. 1, 1955, in Oliver Springs and had been a lifelong resident of this area. He was a member of Friendly Welcome Baptist Church. He was a carpenter by trade and had worked on various construction projects. He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Mitchell; one brother, Carson Mitchell; and one sister, Geraldine Daugherty. Survivors include his sons, Ronson Matthew Mitchell Jr. of Oliver Springs, and Timothy Mack Mitchell and wife Amber of Oak Ridge; daughter, Katherine Rebecca Mitchell of Oak Ridge; mother, Gertrude Seeber Mitchell of Oliver Springs; grandchildren, Carson Stuart Austin Mitchell and Cylei Lynn Kianna Mitchell; brother, Loyde Mitchell and wife Nancy of Oliver Springs, and Kimmie Mitchell, of Oliver Springs; sisters, Patricia Singleton and husband Raymond of Olive Springs, Madgelene Guy and husband Ed of Aiken, S.C.; and Vernice Hinkle and husband Ron of Oliver Springs; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members; special friends, Byrd Phillips, Brad Webb, Jonathan Neal, Wayne Patterson, and Gene Patterson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at Sharp Funeral Home with funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Steve Seeber officiating. Burial and graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at Frost Bottom Cemetery. Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is in charge of all the arrangements. Juanita Mullins, age 84, of Oak Ridge, passed away at home in the early morning of Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, after a brief battle with lung cancer. She was born Aug. 13, 1921, in Durham, Ga. She spent most her life as a homemaker in Harlan County, Ky., and East Tennessee. Juanita was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. She derived her greatest joy spending time with her beloved family. Juanita was funny and charismatic. She especially enjoyed gardening and the occasional spontaneous dance step. Her family and friends are left with many wonderful memories. She outlived her husband, Shine Mullins, by 19 years. She is also preceded in death by three children, Jahue, Simmy and Eva Lou. Her sons Jack, Roger and Mike Mullins survive her. She also leaves a sister, Patricia Garvey, 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. The family offers special thanks to Covenant Hospice of Oak Ridge for the attentive and respectful care they provided. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs, with funeral services following at 8 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Garvan Walls officiating. The interment will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is in charge of all the arrangements. Chester Richmond passed away peacefully on Jan. 25, 2006, at Baptist West Hospital. He had managed five career paths since receiving his doctorate degree in 1958 - the first in biological research at Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory (he received the E.O. Lawrence award in 1974), the second in science research and development administration (associate director for Biomedical and Environmental Science at Oak Ridge National Laboratory from 1974 to 1990), the third in science education (directed the Science Education program at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory from 1984 through 1994), the fourth as Scholar in Residence for the Associated Western Universities, Inc. (1995 through 1998), and the fifth as an independent consultant (1998 through 2004). He retired from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in January 1995. He held a Scholar in Residence appointment with the Associated Western Universities, Inc. (AWU) from February 1995 through 1998. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Eugenia Johansson (who was born in Sweden), William Richmond (who was born in Scotland); and son, David Scott. He is survived by his wife, Jean Anderson Richmond, of more than 50 years; and four daughters, Allyson Richmond in Atlanta, Andrea Richmond in Knoxville, Roberta Richmond-Hashemi in Nashville, and Jacqueline Richmond in Maryville; sister, June in Healdsburg, Calif.; and brothers, Bruce Richmond in South Amboy, N.J., and Donald Richmond in Albuquerque, N.M. He had two grandchildren, AJ and Brenna Richmond-Hashemi of Nashville, Tenn. Memorials may be sent to NAMI Oak Ridge (National Alliance for Mental Illness), P.O.
