Siler, age 74 of Cincinnati, OH, formerly of LaFollette John Gaston Smith, age 71, a resident of Livingston, TN, William O. (Bill) Stepp, age 91 of Dayton, OH, formerly of Campbell County, Alene R. Adkins, age 92 of LaFollette passed away Jan. 19 at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. She was a loving sister and aunt who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by husband, John Adkins; step sons, Darrell, Earl and Glenn Pennington; daughters, Vera, Madge and Ivajean; parents, James D. and Linda Douglas Raines; brothers, Edgar and Ray Raines; sister, Ada Hopkins. She is survived by her son, Joe Adkins of Scott County; brother, Litt Rains of Johnson City; sister, Mildred Stein of LaFollette; grandson, Phillip Davis of LaFollette; several grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Jan. 20 in the Martin Wilson Chapel with the Rev. Charles Sparks officiating. Interment was in the Douglas Cemetery. Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Reatha Lucille Pierce Douglas, age 67 of Lavergne, TN passed away Jan. 16 at her home. She was a native of Jellico. She attended the Eastwood Church of God and worked at the Peachtree Nursing Center in dietary. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Harrison and Fannie Branam Pierce; husband, George Jerry Douglas; brothers, Kenneth, Lewis and Ray Pierce. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Tim and Diann Douglas of Liberty; daughter, Lisa Douglas of Lavernge, TN; sister, Grace Goins of LaFollette; grandchildren, Crystal, Jeremy and Jacob Douglas, Jeremy, Ashley and Wesley Chockley; a host of other nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Jan. 19 in the Llewellyn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Landes officiating. Interment was in the Huddleston Cemetery. Llewellyn Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Aline Wilson Sells Faulkenberry age 75 of King, NC passed away Jan. 20 at Forsith Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. She is preceded in death by her parents,Mitchell and Lilly Wilson; brother, Lawrence. She is survived by her husband,Clyde Faulkenberry; daughter, Vernetta Hope; son, Doug Sells all of King, NC; sisters, Geneva Russell Caryville, Nadine Lamb Hargrove Nashville; brothers, Eugene of Candler, NC and Ray Wilson, Caryville. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Milford Cox and Florence (Blankenship) Cox; husband, Roy Herrell; sons, Jim Thomas and Harley Thomas; daughters, Iretta Young and Martha Rainbolt. She is survived by her daughter, Vernia Evelyn Hicks of Newcomb; step daughter, Betty Lamb of Knoxville; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Novella Sharp Heatherly, age 87 of Knoxville, formerly of Campbell County passed away Jan. 17 at Parkwest Medical Center. She was a member of Ball Camp Baptist Church and a former member of the First Baptist Church of LaFollette where she was the Church secretary for many years. Retired as secretary to the Board of Education of Campbell County. She was a five year volunteer at the Parkwest Medical Center. She wrote and published two very popular cookbooks of recipes she used for family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Eugene Heatherly; parents, Sherman and Lassie Ann Smith Sharp; brothers, Elmer, Otis and Everette Sharp; sister, Irene Stephens; loving niece, Janet Eastwood. She is survived by her daughter, Jeannie Heatherly and husband, Dave Wilson of Louisville, KY; sons, Dale and wife, Beckie Heatherly and Wayne and Edwina Heatherly, all of Knoxville; grandchildren, Steve and Mike Heatherly, Pam Varnadoe, Mark and Neil Heatherly, Kara Jenkins and Laura Combs; several nieces, nephews and her special Sunday school class at Ball Camp Baptist Church and friends at Outlook Pointe Assisted Living. Cross Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Suzanne Korthauer, age 70 of LaFollette passed away Jan. 20 at Sunbridge Nursing Home. She loved flowers, painting, reading and walking. She also loved her family very much. She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Korthauer; parents, Louis and Mary Reels Bell; brother, Charlie Bell; sister, Susie Copeland. She is survived by her son, Robert Korthauer; daughters and son in laws, Kathey and Carey Badner of Yorkville,Ill, Barbara and Carl Richard of LaFollette, Peggy and Frank Lorang of Oswego, Ill, Cindy and Ed Marschke of Matteson, Ill, Jody Parli of Fla; 16 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. She will be laid to rest next to her late husband of 40 years in Aurora, Illinois. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by Martin Wilson Funeral Home. Arvil H. Siler, age 74 of Cincinnati, OH, formerly of LaFollette passed away Jan. 22 at Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. He was of the Church of God faith and retired from Ford Motor Company. He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Siler and brother, Abner Siler. He is survived by his wife, Delois Walden Siler; son, Ed Siler and wife, Beth; daughter, Elaine Reynolds and husband, Harold; grandchildren, Brian, Jillian, Amy, and Molly; mother, Mary Siler. He was the brother of Minnis Siler and Louise England; several other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be a 8 p.m. on Jan. 26 at Walters Chapel with Rev. Delmus Bruce officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Jan. 26 at Walters Funeral Home. Interment will be Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. at the Meredith Cemetery. Walters Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. John Gaston Smith, age 71, a resident of Livingston, TN, passed away Jan. 20 at the Cookeville Regional Hospital following an illness. He was born May 26, 1934 in Clay County, TN. He had lived in Livingston for the past two years. Following his graduation from Celina High School in Clay County, he married Betty Sue Copas and joined the United States Air Force. He served his country for four years during the Korean War, following his discharge from the United States Air Force, they moved to Kentucky and started a farm which later became a hobby that he always enjoyed. In addition to farming, his hobbies included Tennessee Walking Horses and Coon Hunting. Following the sale of the farm, he became a funeral director and continued in the funeral profession until his retirement. He and his brother, Jimmy Kay Smith cofounder Livingston Funeral Home in Livingston, TN. He later moved to Byrdstown, TN and founded the Byrdstown Funeral Home which he operated until 1976. After the sale of Byrdstown Funeral Home, he purchased Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home in Harlan, KY. He lived in Kentucky operating the funeral home for several years after selling the funeral home to his son. Following the sale of Mt. Pleasant he moved back to Tennessee and purchased Martin Funeral Home in LaFollette and Lake City. Following the sale of both the Martin Funeral Homes, he bought Burris Funeral in Crossville, operating Burris until his retirement. He was a member of the Livingston Church of Christ, a member of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association and a former member of the Tennessee and Kentucky Funeral Directors Associations. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lou Juana Smith; parents, Haston Smith and Martha R. Nevins Smith; brother, Dale Lee Smith; sisters, Jean Teeples and Anna Sue Ellison. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Sue Copas Smith of Livingston; daughter, Nancy Dyer of Sparta; sons, John G. Smith, Jr. of Crossville, Jimmy Smith and wife, Brenda of Oliver Springs, Gregory Smith of Livingston; grandchildren, Allen Smith of Cookeville, Ashley Scott of Sparta, Kristian Dyer of Sparta, Rebekah Smith of Oliver Springs, Britney Smith of Livingston and Caleb Smith of Livingston; great grandchildren, Ashlyn Smith, Adian Smith and Jaden Scott; brothers, Jimmy Kay Smith and wife, Peggy L. of Sparta, Bobby Smith of Allons, Billy Smith of WVA; uncle, Matthew Nevins and wife, Beatrice of Livingston. (Bill) Stepp, age 91 of Dayton, OH, formerly of Campbell County, passed away Jan. 16. He was born October 11, 1914 in LaFollette. He retired from General Motors and was an Army Veteran of World War II, a member of VFW # 5018, American Legion and the Eagles in West Milton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise; son-in-law, Stephen Cooper. He is survived by his daughters, Julia Cooper and Sandra Sillin; grandchildren, Kyle and Eric Sillin, Scot and Brian Cooper; great grandchildren, Madison and Stephen Cooper; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. Funeral services were Jan. 21 in the Cross Chapel with Brother Gene Wright officiating. Interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery with military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard.
