Delphia Newport, 82, a resident of Huntsville Manor, and of the Montgomery Community, passed away Aug. 22, 2004, at the Scott County Hospital in Oneida. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvis King Cade and Lula Byrd Day; her husband, Roy Newport; sons: Arlie Newport and Ronald Newport; grandson, Jonathan Wayne Newport; and brothers: William, Silas, Lester, Castro, Nick, Sherman, and Mitt Day. She is survived by five sons: Carl Newport and wife, Gerladine, Dennis Newport and wife, Mattaline, and Dallas Newport and wife, Abbigail, all of Norma, Roger Newport and wife, Bertha, of Degraff, Ohio, and James Newport of the Straight Fork community; one daughter, Shelby Jean Singleton and husband, James, of Tunnel Hill, Ga.; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters: Emma Harness of the Capital Hill community, Bessie Smith of Jellico, and Cora Sue Cantrell of Newcomb, Tenn.; and many other relatives. Funeral services was to have been conducted Aug. 25, at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Carlie Duncan and Bro. Eric Newport officiating. Music was to have been provided by the Mason Family.
