The following are the obituaries from The Scott County News, Vol. 89, No. 9, Thursday, February 2, 2006, Page 12: DELPHA HELEN BEATY CLOWERS, 75 of Oneida, passed away on January 31 at the Scott County Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Hershel Beaty and Zona Jeffers Beaty. She was a member of the Concord Separate Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Bertram and husband Dicky; granddaughter, Denise Clowers Terry and husband Steve; special great grandson, Dakota Terry all of Elgin; sister, Evelyn Broadrick of Sharonville, O,; brother, Dallas Beaty and wife Ruby of Hoopeston, Ill,; several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held February 2 at 2 p.m. in the McCartt Cemetery in Robbins. West-Murley Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. CHARLES D. COOKE, 62 of Oneida passed away on January 21 at the Scott County Hospital. He was the son of Charles David Cooke Jr. and Verginia Helson Cooke. He is survived by wife Lola Cooke of Lafollette; brother, Keavin Cooke and wife Molly; niece, Shannon; nephew, Shawn; three step-daughters; and many other relatives and friends. A private memorial service to be held later by the family. West Murley Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. MARY ALLEAN ENGLAND, 75, of Oneida, passed away on January 28 at the Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville. She had been a resident at the Asbury Nursing Home in Maryville. She was the daughter of the late John Zeldrie and Mary Sylvania Trammell Reed. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oneida; a long time Sunday School teacher and former secretary of the New River Baptist Association and 20 year employee for Scott County Hospital. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, George Michael England; and one brother, John Hubert Reed. She is survived by three daughters, Catherine Gaylor and husband James of Maryville, Zelda Byrd and husband Warren of Pioneer, and Myra Honeycutt and companion Lindsay Blankenship of Elk Valley; eight grandchildren, Ginger Styles, Eddie Honeycutt, Jr., Michael England, John Donald England, Darren Byrd, Johnny Mac Gaylor, Aaron Gaylor, and Derek Byrd; two great-grandchildren, Brooke Styles and Jadyn Jackson; daughter-in-law, Derita Long of Wartburg, first cousins, Louise Sexton of Huntsville, Celie Joe Thomas of Oneida, and Wanda West of Helenwood; special friends, Anna Lee Dobbs, Maxine Jones, Ruth Chitwood, and Cathy White. She also leaves many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted January 31 at 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Oneida with Rev. Doug White and Rev. Dale Smith officiating. Special music was provided by the First Baptist Church Choir of Oneida. Graveside services were conducted Wednesday, February 1 at 11 a.m. at the Hazel Valley Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were grandsons: Eddie Honeycutt, Jr., John Donald England, Darren Byrd, Johnny Mac Gaylor, Asron Gaylor, and Derek Byrd. Honorary pallbearers were: Eddie Honeycutt, Sr. and Chad Vanderpool. Jones and Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. JUDITH CECIL, 91, of Helenwood, passed away on January 26 at the Scott County Hospital. She was the daughter of Walter Ellis and Trussie Phillips Ellis. She was a member of the Helenwood Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Edgar Allan Poe Cecil; brothers, Stacey, Cordell, Rudolph, Gearles Ellis, Dester Davidson; and sisters, Annis, Helen, Fannilee, Faye and Ruth. She is survived by son, Edgar A.P. Cecil, Jr. of Helenwood; five grandsons; two great granddaughters; and six great grandsons; several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held January 29 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Cecil officiating. Special music was provided by Charlotte Phillips. Interment was in the Black Creek Cross Roads Cemetery. West Murley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. JAMES W. COWAN, 71, of Winfield, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, at the Scott County Hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced later by Jones and Son Funeral Home.
