Parrott, age 88 of LaFollette, William L. C. Reynolds, age 73 of Norwood, OH, formerly of LaFollette Olivia Mae Showalter, age 12 days, of Jacksboro, David Lee Smith, 92, of Lutheran Home-East, Hickory, Murrell Eldridge Vowell, age 84 of Lake City, Kenneth White Bartley, age 83, of LaFollette, passed away peacefully on Jan. 26 at the UT Medical Center in Knoxville after a short illness. He was a veteran of World War II and served with the military police in the European Theater. He was a member of LaFollette Lodge #623. He was a 38-year employee of the Kern's Bakery through the 50's and 70's and many who knew him will recall his cheerful whistling through the streets of LaFollette as he made his daily deliveries around the area. At the time of his death, he was the co-owner of Kenny's Pioneer and Bartley's Self-Storage. He was a long-time member of the LaFollette United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Pauline (Polly) Bartley who died in June 2003 and earlier by his parents, two sisters, and a brother. Among his survivors are his twin children who loved him very much: son, Kenny Michael Bartley of LaFollette and daughter, Sherry Bartley Wright and husband Doug Wright of Clinton; grandchildren, Kristen Wright Heffern and husband Todd Heffern of Johnson City and Kenneth Stuart Bartley; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Woodson Bartley of LaFollette and Rosalie Edwards of Escondido, CA and several nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. Funeral services were held Jan. 29 at the LaFollette Methodist Church with the Rev. Danny Hensley officiating. Interment was in the Beeler Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Bartley's memory will gratefully be accepted at the LaFollette United Methodist Church, 808 East Central, LaFollette, TN 37766. He was a member of the Colonial Heights United Methodist Church in Kingsport and graduated from U.T. in 1979 with a degree in electrical engineering. He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Loraine Brown and step mother, Marie Kays Brown. He was the grandson of the late John M. and Letitia Richardson Brown of the Fincastle Community in LaFollette and George W. and Lillie Bell Lingingleter of Knoxville. He is survived by his sisters, Janie Brown York of Memphis and Pret and Kay Diffle of Dallas, TX; brothers, Chris Brown of Houston, TX and Von Kays of Seattle, WA; several other relatives and friends. Private graveside services and interment were held in the Glade Springs Cemetery in LaFollette. Walters Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Chuck Ensley, age 52, of Flintstone, GA, formerly of Caryville, passed away Jan. 30 at Hutcheson Medical Center, Inc. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and worked at TVA for 26 years. He was preceded in death by his special cousin, Diane Johnson Williams He is survived by his parents, Robert and Joan Ensley, Jacksboro; sister, Lena Nelson and husband David; nephew, Chris Nelson and wife Jennifer; great nephew and niece, Caleb and Emaley Nelson; fiancé, Angie Abernathy Funeral services were Feb. 1 at the Cross Chapel. Ensor, age 71 of LaFollette, passed away Jan. 28 at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Susie Evans; brothers, Charlie, Henry, Herman, John, Ulyss, and Clarence W. Evans; sisters, Nell, Pauline, Cloeva, and Bess. She is survived by her husband, Billy Joe Ensor of LaFollette; sisters, Agnes White of WVA and Viola Lockhart of GA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Helen Louise Ford, age 66, of LaFollette, passed away Jan. 26 at University of Kentucky Medical Center. She was a member of Indiana Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Burress; daughter; Cathy Wiley; sister; Aileen Burress. She is survived by her mother, Wadena Blankenship Burress, Pensacola, Fla; daughter, Phyllis Cobbs, Pensacola, Fla; son, Billy Ford, LaFollette; three grandchildren; sisters, Gail Kimberlin and Della Falzone, both of Pensacola, Fla; brothers, Ronnie Burress of Sparta, TN and Robert Earl Burress of Shelbyville, TN. Funeral services were Held Jan. 28 at the Cross Chapel with the Rev. Mark Partin officiating. Interment was in the Riverview Cemetery in Smokey Junction. Cross Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Suzanne Korthauer, age 70 of LaFollette passed away Jan. 20 at Sunbridge Nursing Home. She loved flowers, painting, reading and walking. She also loved her family very much. She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Korthauer; parents, Louis and Mary Reels Bell; brother, Charlie Bell; sister, Susie Copeland. She is survived by her son, Robert Korthauer; daughters and son in laws, Kathey and Carey Badner of Yorkville, Ill, Barbara and Carl Richard of LaFollette, Peggy and Frank Lorang of Oswego, Ill, Cindy and Ed Marschke of Matteson, Ill, Jody Parli of Fla; 16 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. Jonathan Lankford, age 21 of Cumberland Gap passed away Jan. 30 at the St. Mary's Hospital in Campbell County. He was born June 12, 1984 in Harlan County, KY to Gary and Debbie Brock Lankford. He was employed at Eagle Bend Manufacturing in Clinton. He was preceded in death by his mother, Deborah Brock Lankford; grandfather, Orville Brock; grandfather and grandmother, Andrew and Thelma Lankford. He is survived by his father, Gary Lankford; wife, Crystal Lankford and children twenty month old Trinity and one month old Jonathon Michael Lankford; very special grandmother, Beulah Brock and a host of family and friends. Parrott, age 88 of LaFollette, passed away Jan. 29 at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. He was retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation, a veteran of the U.S. Army-Air Corp in World War II, a member of Elm Grove Baptist Church, a member of LaFollette Masonic Lodge #623 F. and A.M., Knoxville Scottish Rite Bodies, a Shriner and the York Rite. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Marshall Parrott and Liza Ann Nelson Parrott; brother, Robert Parrott; sisters, Nora Goins, Etta Dossett, Geneva Dykes, and Siota Gaylor. Reynolds, age 73 of Norwood, OH, formerly of LaFollette, passed away Jan. 26 in Cincinnati, OH. He was of the Church of God faith, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, retired from General Motors, and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel B. and Anna Ayers Reynolds. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Reynolds; son William Lemuel Reynolds; grandchildren, Stephanie and Collin Reynolds, brothers, Lonnie, Diance, and Gary Reynolds; sister, Brenda Weaver; several other relatives and friends. Olivia Mae Showalter, age 12 days, of Jacksboro, passed away Jan. 27 at U.T. Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Richard Stein. Cross Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. David Lee Smith, 92, of Lutheran Home-East, Hickory, died Jan. 25 at Catawba Valley Medical Center after a period of declining health. He was born March 12, 1913, in Catawba County, N.C.He was the son of the late John F. and Mary Seabock Smith. A lifelong member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, where he served in various capacities, he retired as an industrial engineer after 50 years at Hickory Chair Company. He was a graduate of the Hickory High School class of 1931. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Poovey Smith; two brothers; and two sisters. His survivors include a son, Larry K. Smith and wife, Julia, of LaFollette; daughters, Lorraine Yount and husband, Darvin, of Conover, N.C., Mary Louise Good of Hickory, and Carolyn Robinson and husband, Pete, of Newton, N.C.; sister, Virginia Deal, of Hickory; grandchildren, Dr. Donald Good and wife, Jan, Debbie Heavner and husband, Lee, Joyce McNeill and husband, Mack, Timothy Yount and wife, Carla, Kevin Yount and wife, Michelle, Cindy Card and husband, Mack, Amy Smith, Leslie Bohannon and husband, Braxton, Lara Edwards and husband, Tilmon, Heather Packard and husband, Chris, Lee Robinson and wife, Sandy; Jack Robinson, Donna Simmons and husband, Mark; 26 great-grandchildren. Murrell Eldridge Vowell, age 84 of Lake City, passed away Jan. 28 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born January 13, 1922 He was a life long resident of Coal Creek/Lake City. He started his career with the DOE from 1942-44 as a machinist, working on the Manhattan project at the Y-12 processing plant. After World War II, he returned to the family tradition of working the local coal mines. He was a survivor of the 1945 mine explosion at the Beech Grove coal mine, which left him severally injured. His disability did not affect his ability to continue everyday life. He finished his career with the Anderson County Highway Department and took an active part in the local elections, campaigning for several different candidates throughout the years. He enjoyed farming, including raising several prize winning chickens, guinea fowl and pigs, and had a garden until a few years ago. He was a member of the Pine Hill Missionary Baptist church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Georgia Disney Vowell; daughter, Peggy Vowell; parents, Albert and Bessie O'Dell Vowell; brothers, Charles and Clyde Vowell; sister, Pauline Tackett; step brothers, Elbert and Millard Hatmaker. He is survived by his sons, David Vowell of Lake City; daughters, Teresa Ledbetter and husband, Tim of Cumming, GA, Lisa Carden and husband, Mark of Lake City; sisters, Lola Adkins of Lebanon, TN, Mary Renner, Evansville, IN, Nevaline Jennings, Lake City and Wanda Wilson, Lake City; grandchildren, Stephanie Ledbetter, Cumming, GA, Christopher Ledbetter, Cumming, GA, Mark Anthony Carden, Lake City, Eric Carden, Lake City; several nieces and nephews and many friends.Funeral services were Jan. 30 in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.
