BABB, HELEN ROGERS - known affectionately as 'Mama Babb', age 88, a former resident of Coalfield, went to be with the Lord Sunday, October 2nd at Portsbridge Hospice in Riverdale, Georgia. She was born July 6, 1917 in Lenoir City and was the daughter of John and Minnie Hensley Rogers, both deceased. She and her husband, the late Rev. Harold W. Babb lived in Oak Ridge between the 1940s and 1960s. Their ministry with the Church of God took them to many cities and states, before retiring to the Coalfield Community in 1988. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Babb is preceded in death by: her daughter, Erma Jean Babb; and son, Ralph G. (Jerry) Babb. Survivors: children, James Babb & wife, Jeanette of Coalfield, Richard Babb & wife, Debbie of Fayetteville, Georgia, Larry Babb & wife, Susan of Mt. She worked at the Department of Energy for 20 years and was a member of South Harriman Baptist Church.
