From the Knoxville News Sentinel 23 - 24 Oct 2005 BORUM, WILBURN - age 80, of Oliver Springs, DARNELL, ROY GILBERT - age 74, HOWELL, JAMES ALLEN "AL" - 27 of Oliver Springs, ELLIOTT, PHILLIP LYNN - age 52 of Lake City, TN, JONES, MRS. GOLDIE G. - age 88 of LaFollette, SHARP, MS. MARJORIE (MARGIE) - age 89 of LaFollette, BORUM, WILBURN - age 80, a lifelong resident of Oliver Springs, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, October 22, 2005. He was born June 20, 1925 in Oliver Springs, Tennessee. Wilburn was a member of Kellytown Baptist Church. He was a retiree of Martin Marietta Y-12, X- 10 & K-25 plants with 36 years as a Fire Inspector. Mr. Borum was also a United States Navy veteran who served his country during World War II. He enjoyed golfing and gardening in his spare time. He is preceded in death by his infant son, Keith Douglas Borum; parents, Fred & Maggie Crouch Borum; brothers, Franklin, Harold, Denton, Sam & Clyde Borum; sister, Freddie LeGette. Survivors: loving wife of 50 years, Mildred Justice Borum of Oliver Springs; son, Lynn Alan Borum & wife, Terri of Franklin; sisters,Mildred Busby of Atlanta, Georgia, Bonnie Vaught & husband, Robert of Harriman, Audrey Parker of Lakeland, Florida. Hilda Mason & husband, Earl of Clinton; sisters-in-law, Grace Borum of Oliver Springs, Oveline Borum of Oak Ridge, Peggy Borum of Oliver Springs, Donna Justice of Oliver Springs. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends. The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:30 pm, Sunday, October 23, 2005 at Sharp Funeral Home with funeral service following the visitation at 8:30 pm, in the chapel with Pastor Mack Smith & Pastor Garvan Walls officiating. Burial & graveside service will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, October 24, 2005 at the Oliver Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Kellytown Baptist Church, P.O. Box 18, Oliver Springs, Tennessee, 37840. Sharp Funeral Home of Oliver Springs is in charge of all the arrangements. DARNELL, ROY GILBERT - age 74, passed away Friday, October 21, 2005 at his residence. He was a member of Clinton First Baptist Church, Clinton Optimist Club, Clinton Civitan, Clinton Jaycees, Oak Ridge Country Club, Elks Lodge, and Clinton Chamber of Commerce where he served as president years ago. Roy was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War. He was a graduate of Memphis State University where he played basketball. Roy retired as plant manager at Modine Manufacturing in Clinton. He is preceded in death by parents, Hardin and Mattie Humphrey Darnell; brother, Chester Darnell. Survivors: wife of 53 1/2 years, Betty Darnell of Clinton; son, Michael & wife Lori Darnell of Montclair, VA; daughter, Jana Darnell of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Sean and Meghan Darnell of Montclair, VA; sister, Vada Story of Marion, KY; brother, Fred & wife Mary Darnell of Augusta, GA; special nephew, B.W. Darnell & wife Patsy of Benton, KY; several other nieces and nephews. His burial will be 11:00 AM, Monday, October 24, 2005 at Grandview Memorial Garden. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. HOWELL, JAMES ALLEN "AL" - 27 of Oliver Springs, departed life suddenly on October 22, 2005. Al was a great outdoorsman who loved fishing and all sports. Preceded in death by grandparents, Allen S. Howell, 1980, Ruth Virginia Howell, August 20, 2005. Al had been extremely depressed over the death of his grandmother who raised him, Ruth Virginia Howell. He will be sadly missed by his b eloved father and best friend, Steve Howell of Oliver Springs. Al will be missed by his pets, Lucky and Magic. Other survivors include, mother, Jane Marsh Howell, Harriman; son, Isaiah Howell, Clinton; aunts, Kay H. Lindsey, Chesterfield, VA, Virginia Livesay, South Park, FL; several nieces and nephews. The graveside service will be held on Tuesday, 2 PM at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with Dr. Steve McDonald officiating. He was born March 29, 1953 in Campbell County, TN. He worked at Eagle Bend Mfg. as a machine operator. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He loved his spending time with his children and taking trips to Cades Cove. He is preceded in death by: his parents, Phillip and Mamie Adkins Elliott; sister-in-law, Clarice Elliott; and mother-in-law, Josie Hoskins. GOLDIE G. - age 88 of LaFollette, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2005 at St. Mary's Health & Rehab Center in LaFollette. She was a member of Long Hollow Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by: husband, Arnold Lawrence Jones; parents, John and Marthan Turner; three brothers, William H. Turner and wife, Helen, George Turner and wife, Bonnie, Otis Turner and wife, Pauline; three sisters, Maggie T. Dial and husband, William H., Nila Anderson and husband, Jacob Ross, Eltha Sweat and husband, Sween; eight nieces and nephews.
