She was the daughter of the late Ancil & Lou Ridenour Smiddy. Preceded in death: parents: Ancil & Lou Smiddy. Survivors: husband: Hayes Burrell; daughters & sons-in-law: June & Greg Campbell, Rita & Clifton Jordan, Yvonne & Mark Tidwell; son: Arvil Lee Stewart, Jr.; step son & wife: Rod & Diane Burrell; grandchildren: April, Tommy, Derrick, Chris, Tasha, Whitney, Rebekah, Jeff, Todd and Lisa; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters: Sarah and Sherry; brother: Henry. Funeral service 8 PM Saturday Cross Chapel with Rev. Delmus Bruce and Rev. Ronnie Thomas officiating. Interment 12 Noon Sunday, Davis Cemetery in Stinking Creek. He was a member of Norris Religious Fellowship and his interests revolved around his love of the outdoors: hiking, gardening, fishing, and music. Walter was employed with Y-12 in Oak Ridge as a research chemist with 38 years of service. He is preceded in death by parents, Walter J. & Virginia Kilbourn Duerksen. Survivors: wife, Patricia (Penny) Duerksen of Norris; daughter,Virginia (Ginger) Fulton & husband Kyle of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Matthew, Virginia Elizabeth, Nicholas, and Kristina Fulton; sister, Mary Duerksen Sklar of Denver, CO; mother-in-law, Katherine Creswell of Kingston; brother-in- law, Andy Hickey & wife Julie of Georgia; nephews, Trey Sklar & wife Kristina & son Hans of Arizona, Lt. Andy Sklar of Florida, Drew Hickey of Georgia; niece, Sarah Hickey of Georgia. The funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 15, 2005 at Norris Religious Fellowship Church with Dr. Keith Haverkamp officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service. His burial will follow at Norris Memorial Garden.
