From the Oak Ridger 17 Oct 2005 Blenda Elaine Allen, 57, of Oak Ridge, Lena Mae Curd, 70, Thomas Walter Long, 48, of Oak Ridge, Patsy Pearson, 56, of Oak Ridge, Blenda Elaine Allen, 57, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at her home. She was born June 26, 1948, in Middlesboro, Ky., and graduated from Karns High School in 1966. She was a charter member of Fairview Baptist Church and retired from the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge where she was a laboratory technologist for 25 years. Ms. Allen was very artistic and greatly enjoyed arts and crafts of all kinds. She was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Allen, in 2004. She is survived by her beloved parents, Ralph H. and Dorothy Burke Allen; her cherished and loving son, Anthony L. Allen; her devoted pets, Spock Allen and Indy Allen; sister, Charlene Allen, all of Knoxville; aunts, Hazel Skaggs, Clara Ingram and her husband Ronnie, and Hester Fisher; uncle, Gilbert Allen; niece, Susan Allen and extended family member, Jill Cordell. She is much loved by her family, who will miss her dearly, and she was very dedicated to her family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at 7 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Milton Bolton and Dr. Glen Sullivan officiating. Lena Mae Curd, 70, departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. A native and lifelong resident of Oliver Springs, Tenn., she was born Jan. 30, 1935, to the union of Willie Mae and Skillie Curd, who are deceased. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Floyd Young Curd; and two sisters, Alberta Frazier and Louise Capshaw. Ms. Curd was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker. She was a member of Little Leaf Baptist Church, and she loved reading the Word of God. Her hobbies included crocheting, quilting, fishing, gardening, and caring for her family. Survivors include her daughters, Althea Yancy and son-in-law, Pastor John T. Yancy of Goose Creek, S.C., and Marcella and Regina Curd of Oliver Springs; son, Clarence Curd Jr. and daughter-in-law, Sharon Knaff Curd of West Alexandria, Ohio; brothers, Skillie Curd Jr. and Joe Lewis Curd of Oliver Springs, and the Rev. Benjamin Curd and sister-in-law, Mary Curd of Johnson City; aunt, Lydia Montgomery of Oliver Springs, and Mildred Harrison of Clinton; eight randchildren, eight great-grandchildren; devoted cousins, Mary Lou and Willie James Brooks of Oliver Springs; loving great-nephew, Devon Simmons of Startford, Miss.; special friend, Becky Burum of Oliver Springs; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005, at Little Leaf Baptist Church in Oliver Springs, with funeral services following at 2 p.m. at the church with Elder Thomas W. Dews officiating. Interment will follow the service at Carter's Bluff Cemetery in Oliver Springs. Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is in charge of all the arrangements. Thomas Walter Long, 48, of Oak Ridge, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2005, at his home. He was born Nov. 12, 1956, in Oak Ridge and graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1975. Mr. Long was a member of First Baptist Church. He enjoyed working as a landscaper, as well as working with ceramics at the Ceramic Korner. Several years ago, he owned the Taco Maker restaurant at the old Oak Ridge Bowling Lanes. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking. Mr. Long was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Laws Long Jr. He is survived by his mother, Wilma Long of Oak Ridge; son, Zachary Thomas Long of Atlanta, Ga.; brothers, Donald Long of Oak Ridge and James Long and wife Jerol, all of Oak Ridge; sister, Rebecca Libby and husband Wayne of Oak Ridge; aunt and uncle, Bernice and Harold Brown of Knoxville; nieces and nephews, Hannah Long, Emily Long, Jacob Long and Stephanie Libby, all of Oak Ridge; and many cousins; special friends, Janice Combs of Oak Ridge, Connie Worrel of Atlanta, and Willene Rae of Hawaii, and Kristi Wilson; and numerous friends at the Ceramic Korner. Funeral services are Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary, with the Rev. Tim Bochert officiating. Graveside services are Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
