From the Oak ridger 31 Oct 2005 Eloise Donaldson Bowles, 92, Boyd Burress, 79, of Knoxville, Anessa Kay Hohman, age 14, Tracy Mitchell Kegley Jr., 82, of Powell, Wilburn Ray "Snuffy" Patterson, age 77, a resident of Oliver Springs, Lois Hensley Roberts, age 86, a resident of Knoxville, Ethelyn Jane Thomason, age 80, of Clinton, Eloise Donaldson Bowles, 92, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, at Tucker Nursing Center in Tucker, Ga. She was born and raised in Morristown, Tenn., moved to Oak Ridge in 1943 (where she was a member of the '43 Club), and returned to Morristown in 1968. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Soma Sala, and DAR in Morristown, and served as director of the Davy Crockett Tavern. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Clyde Bowles; her son, Jay Bowles; and her parents, Lea King and Camilla Donaldson. She is survived by her daughter, Lucy Bowles Newton; grandchildren, Robert Newton and Laura Lea Clinton; and four great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at Jarnigan Cemetery, with the Rev. Greg Cartwright officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to CARE USA (the international relief organization), 151 Ellis St. NE, Atlanta, GA 30303. Mayes Mortuary in Morristown, and Lowndes and McLane Funeral Home in Tucker, Ga., are in charge of arrangements. Boyd Burress, 79, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005, at St. Mary's Residential Hospice in Halls. Boyd was a member and caretaker at Ridgeview Baptist Church. He was a retired machinist at Y-12 after 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Burress; parents, Homer and Nannie Grubb Burress; and a brother, John Burress. Survivors include his sons, Tom Burress and wife Tina of Louisville, Ky., and Tim Burress and wife Gail of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Jessica and Matthew Burress of Louisville, Ky., Ryan and Leslie Burress of Knoxville, and Jeremy and Amanda Silvey of Lenoir City; sister, Lucille Kesterson of Raleigh, N.C.; special caregiver, Kim Jones of Oliver Springs; and several nieces, nephews, and special friends at Ridgeview Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in the chapel with the Rev. Maston Jackson and the Rev. David Magill officiating. His burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at Woodhaven Memorial Garden. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. Anessa Kay Hohman, age 14, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, Oct. 28, 2005. Anessa was a freshman and honor student at Clinton High School. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. She loved going to the Clinton High School football and basketball games. Anessa was born March 25, 1991, in Knox County. She is survived by her mother, Karen Swain Wise of Clinton; father, Alan Hohman and wife Deloris of Oliver Springs; sister, Krista Hohman of Clinton; half sister, Sarah Hohman of Oliver Springs; step brother, Casey Arnold of Oliver Springs; grandparents, Arnold W. Swain and Wilma of Clinton, Lowell and Norma Hohman of Clinton; step grandparents, Marietta Davis and Carl of Kingston, and Fred Hill and Monica of Kingston; great-great-grandparents, Annie Rickett of Clinton, and Lula Mae Foust of Clinton; great-great-grandmother, Imogene Hill of Kingston; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends at Clinton High School. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in the chapel with the Rev. Donnie Disney and the Rev. Chris Albright officiating. Her burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, at Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin King, Andrew Lynch, Justin Foster, Shane Harrell, Daniel Cardwell, Brandon Garrison, Christian Lukonen, Chris Prillaman, and Gamey Dabney. Tracy Mitchell Kegley Jr., 82, of Powell, a native of Birmingham, Alabama and a long-time resident of Anderson County, passed away on Oct. 30, 2005, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder. Mr. Kegley was a graduate of Birmingham Southern College and the University of Alabama, and was a member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. He worked at Southern Research in Birmingham prior to working at Oak Ridge National Lab. He retired from Martin Marietta in 1982. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed in Guam. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tracey Mitchell Kegley Sr. and Willie Inez Adams Kegley; a brother, Fulton Garton Kegley; and sisters, Ruby Kegley and Florence Kegley. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Lottie Irene Coward Kegley of Powell; son, Joseph Kegley of Charlotte, N.C.; son and daughter-in-law, William and Molly Kegley of Clinton; grandchildren, Mary Kate Kegley and Anna Kegley of Clinton; sister and brother-in-law, Eugenia and Ted Barfoot of Adamsville, Ala.; and nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church with Dr. Duncan Rankin officiating. The family requests that memorials be in the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 2200 Southerland Ave., Knoxville, TN 37919. Wilburn Ray "Snuffy" Patterson, age 77, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, at the home of his daughter, Shelia Robertson. Mr. Patterson was born Oct. 28, 1928, in Anderson County. He was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a member of the Oliver Springs Omega Masonic Lodge No. 536 F & AM and Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church however, he attended Batley Baptist Church. Mr. Patterson was a retired coal truck driver who worked at Walls and Coker Coal for 20 years and Premium Coal Company for 10 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Chadwick Patterson; by his parents, Johnny K. Patterson and Lassie Webb Patterson Key; and by two brothers, Robert "Bob" Patterson and Bill Patterson. He is survived by his daughter, Shelia Robertson and husband, Jerry, of Clinton; son, Ray Allen "Tiny" Patterson and wife Dolores of Powell; grandchildren, Kristi Beth, Kevin Allen, Stephanie Brock, and Stacy Robertson; 20 great-grandchildren; and sister, Joyce Kennedy of Oliver Springs. The family will receive friends Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Lois Hensley Roberts, age 86, a resident of Knoxville, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005. She was born Dec. 25, 1918, in Oneida, Kentucky, living in Knoxville for the past 26 years. Lois was the daughter of the late Irvin and Sophia Hensley. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. McMurray Roberts; son, Charles Edwin Roberts and 13 brothers and sisters. Lois and her late husband of 53 years faithfully served together in the ministry of our Lord for 37 years. She was a shining Christian example and a beautiful reflection of Jesus Christ to all she met. Mrs. Roberts was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church in Knoxville. She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Ann Williams and husband, Cecil of Knoxville, and Carol Elaine Massengill and husband, Steve of Powell; grandchildren, Kenny Williams of Knoxville, Lisa Desjardins and husband, Don of Orlando, Fla., and Beth Kilcrease and husband, Phil of Powell; great-grandchildren, Spencer Kilcrease of Powell, Sarabeth Kilcrease of Powell, and Jackson Hodor of Orlando, Fla.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other special relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005, at Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with funeral service following the visitation at 3 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Ethelyn Jane Thomason, age 80, of Clinton, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005, at her residence. She was the owner and operator of the Christian Bookstore in Clinton from 1958 until she retired in 1996. After she retired she enjoyed designing and creating greeting cards for family and friends. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling and traveled extensively throughout the United States and made several trips to Europe and Asia. Ethelyn was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucius Butler Sr., and Mable Tubbs Butler; sisters, Louise Morse and Marie Hawkins; brother, Frank Butler. She is survived by her daughter, Alice and husband, Adrin Ward, of Chesapeake, Va.; son, Paul Thomason of New York City; grandchildren, Alicia Ward of Chesapeake, Va., and Brad and wife, Katrina Ward, of Virginia Beach, Va.; sister, Jean and husband, Bob Hamlett, of Clinton; brothers, Lucius and wife, Dona Butler, of Hawaii, and Jack and wife, Lynne Butler, of Pacifica, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at Oak Ridge Baptist Church.
