Curtis Todd Sr., 46, of Oak Ridge, Boyd Burress, of Clinton, Lois Hensley Roberts, 86, a resident of Knoxville, Ethelyn Jae Thomason, of Clinton, Marion Coyle Barkman went to her rest on Oct. 11, 2005, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Sept. 23, 1914, in Cumberland, Md., she was the wife of the late Robert Chester Barkman of Cumberland. A resident of the Oak Ridge Retirement Community, she is survived by her son, Donald F. Barkman and his family of Oak Ridge. Mrs. Barkman lived most of her life in Cumberland, Md., and joined St. Mary's Parish when she moved to Oak Ridge in 2001. A memorial mass will be celebrated for her at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Nov. 1, 2005, at 12:10 p.m. A full funeral and interment will be arranged through Sts. Daugherty, 75, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born March 2, 1930, in the Fork Mountain community of Anderson County. He had been a faithful member of Tuppertown Baptist Church for over 30 years. Mr. Daugherty retired from the Tennessee Department of Corrections in 1995, after working 21 years as a Guard at the Brushy Mountain State Prison. He was a United States Army veteran, serving his country during World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War, retiring Jan. 1, 1969, after 21 years of service. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Tri-County Chapter No. 26. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Daugherty; mother, Bessie Duncan; sons, L. Jack Daugherty and Lonald 'P-Nut' Daugherty; brothers, Leamon Daugherty, Leonard Daugherty Jr., and J. W. Daugherty; sister, Mary Lola Lowe; step-brothers, Tom Duncan and James Duncan; and step-sisters, Maxine Cox and Jean Duncan. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Shirley Ann Pride Daugherty of Oliver Springs; son, John Daugherty and wife, Tammy of Oliver Springs; daughters, Shelia Eason and husband, Mark of Oak Ridge, and Sherenia Napier and husband, Mark of Coalfield; grandchildren, Scott Potter, Benson Napier, Lucas Daugherty, Sarah Potter, Samantha Massengale, Sierra Napier, Cody Eason, and Abigail Daugherty; great-granddaughter, Kelsey Potter; brothers, the Rev. Donald Daugherty and wife, Jennie of Petros, Conley Daugherty and wife, Nellie of Marlow, Lester Daugherty and wife, Imogene of Cullman, Ala.; step-brother, Benny Duncan & wife, Loretta of Petros; half-brothers, Jan, Mark and Tim Daugherty of Lafollette; half-sister, Peggy Ford of Lafollette; sister-in-law, Brenda Daugherty of Rockwood; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members. Ralph Wilson and the Rev. Mike Pride officiating. Burial and graveside service will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, at the Oliver Springs Cemetery with full military honors being conducted at the gravesite. Sharp Funeral Home of Oliver Springs in charge of all the arrangements. Jessie Eaves, 27, of Whitehouse, Tenn., died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005, from injuries sustained in a car crash in Whitehouse. Mrs. Eaves lived in Oak Ridge several years ago and attended Oak Ridge High School. She is survived by her sister, Martha Pearson of Oak Ridge, and brother, Mark Butterini of Harriman. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, in Hattiesburg, Miss. Burial will also be in Hattiesburg. Kingston Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, Miss., is in charge of arrangements. John M. Groover Jr., 83, of the Karns community, passed away Oct. 25, 2005, after a short illness. He was the son of Mildred and John Groover. John was employed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory as an electronics technician and retired in 1980. John is survived by his daughter, Sherry and husband Paul Beggs; granddaughter, Heather and husband William Abraham, and great-grandson, Aidan Abraham, all of Douglas, Ala.; grandson, Chris Beggs and wife Emily, and great-granddaughter, Megan Harn of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and brothers, James Henry Groover and wife Charlcie of Kingston, and Charles Groover and wife Phyllis of Clinton. He also had many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a wonderful caregiver and loving friend, Dorothy Boshers. John had been a member of the Karns Lions Club and the Volunteer Fire Department. He loved square dancing, playing bridge, working around his home, and being with family and friends, as well as attending church and Sunday school. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. with the memorial service following from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, at Highland Memorial West Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Weikel of Karns Beaver Ridge Methodist Church officiating. Family and friends will gather for a burial service at 4 p.m. following the funeral service, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family extends a special appreciation to the employees of the Karns Ingles store for their love and generosity to John in his last years. Elaine Potter, of Oak Ridge, passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mary Elaine Galiano was born April 9, 1923, in San Antonio, Texas, a daughter of Augustine "Doc" and Ida Galiano. Her brother, August, lives in Houston, Texas; her brother, John, of Lancaster, Pa., and sister, Kathleen of Woodville,Texas, having already passed away. Elaine graduated from Beaumont's French High School in 1940. She moved to Norris and then Oak Ridge in the early 1950s where her husband, Ralph Adrian Potter, came to work at Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a ceramics engineer. She was a voracious reader and an ardent Big "D" Democrat. She was active in the League of Women Voters and Planned Parenthood, and a longtime member of the Oak Ridge Unitarian Church. She loved to cook and the zest carried her life as well as her recipes. Elaine was an optimist and an upbeat realist with a thick skin and an easy laugh. Meals were yoga exercises -- a way to breathe and a chance to learn. At least two discussions were required for every dinner, and a salad to cleanse the palate. She hummed operatic arias and jazz riffs with equal aplomb, and she danced. She is survived by three sons, Jason Michael Potter in Pittman, N.J., Christopher Lane Potter in Tampa, Fla., and Mitchell Adrian Potter in Arlington, Va. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the donor's favorite charity. G. Curtis Todd Sr., 46, of Oak Ridge, died on Oct. 26, 2005, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born in Bowling Green, Ky., on August 18, 1959, to parents David H. and Jacqueline Sykes Todd. After graduation from the University of North Carolina, with a degree in business, he married Susan. Curtis came to Oak Ridge in 1992 from Durham, N.C. Just recently, he began working with Met Life so that he could spend more time with his family. Earlier, Mr. Todd had worked in restaurant management for 22 years, with the last eight years being with Applebee's Restaurant in Oak Ridge. He was a volunteer with the Oak Ridge High School Band and a supporter of the Lady Vols rowing team. Survivors include his parents, David and Jacqueline Todd of Rocky Mount, N.C.; his wife of 21 years, Susan Lapping Todd of Oak Ridge; son, George Curtis Todd Jr., a student at Oak Ridge High School; daughter, Kelly Alexander Todd, a student at the University of Tennessee; brothers, Michael Todd and wife, Carole of Tampa, Fla., and Jack Todd and wife, Angela of Atlanta, Ga.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sherwood and June Lapping of Carthage, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Michael Woods officiating.
