"Byrd" Boruff age 67 of LaFollette Kathleen Stewart Burrell, age 66, of New Hudson, MI, formerly of Stinking Creek, Addie Roberts Hatmaker age 91 of Jacksboro Hurshel Housley age 74 of LaFollette Rebecca (Becky) Carolyn Goins Meade, age 54 George "Press" Moses, age 81 of Jellico Conley Ruth Price, age 79, of LaFollette, Franklin D. Terry, age 60 of Roses Creek J.P. "Byrd" Boruff age 67 of LaFollette went to be with the Lord on Oct. 11 at the U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville. He attended Cedar Creek Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed cutting up with all he met. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rome and Nora Heatherly Boruff; brother, L.D. Boruff; sister, Betty Ford. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Boruff of LaFollette; sons, Mark Boruff of KY, Billy Heatherly of Acworth, GA; daughters, Marie Boruff of KY, Donna Chapman of Caryville, Jeannie Crowley of LaFollette, Debbie Hope of Jacksboro, Diane Siegenphaler of Holly Hill, FL; nine grandchildren; brothers, M.C. Boruff of LaFollette, Sonny Boruff of LaFollette; sister, Susie Terry of LaFollette; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Oct. 14 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. LeRoy Braden and Rev. John Brown officiating. Interment was in the Bakers Forge Cemetery. Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Kathleen Stewart Burrell, age 66, of New Hudson, MI, formerly of Stinking Creek, passed away Oct. 11. She was the daughter of the late Ancil and Lou Ridenour Smiddy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ancil and Lou Smiddy. She is survived by her daughters and sons in law, June and Greg Campbell, Rita and Clifton Jordan, Yvonne and Mark Tidwell; son, Arvil Lee Stewart, Jr.; step-son, Rod and Diane Burrell; grandchildren, April, Tommy, Derrick, Chris, Tasha, Whitney, Rebekah, Jeff, Todd and Lisa; six great grandchildren; sisters, Sarah and Sherry; brother, Henry. Funeral services were held Oct. 15 at the Cross Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Delmus Bruce and Rev.Ronnie Thomas officiating. Interment was in the Davis Cemetery. Cross Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Addie Roberts Hatmaker age 91 of Jacksboro passed away on Oct. 17 at St. Mary's in LaFollette. She was born on May 17, 1914 in Bonnie Blue, VA to William and Victoria Osborne Roberts. Her father was a carpenter and sharecropper. She married Othniel Hatmaker on February 25, 1933 in Bonnie Blue, VA. They had lived at the present address since 1935. She was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church where she will be laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Othniel Hatmaker; two grandsons; parents, William and Victoria Osborne Roberts. She is survived by her sons, Floyd M. and Margie Hatmaker of LaFollette and Gary E. and Sharon Hatmaker of Hanna City, Illinois; daughters, Barbara J. and Eldon Boshears and Jane J. and John Phillips all of Jacksboro; 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. She also had one brother, six half brothers, eight half sisters and one stepmother and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services were Oct. 18 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Ron Williams officiating. Interment was in the Mt. Paran Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Paran Baptist Church Cemetery fund. Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Hurshel Housley age 74 of LaFollette passed away Sept. 30 at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Knoxville. He was a member of Barraca Tabernacle. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening and most of all he loved to play jokes on his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ethel Sheppard Housley; son, Michael Housley; brothers, Otha, Danny, and Deleon Housley; sisters, Mary Evans and Roberta Strange. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth Housley of LaFollette; sons, Earnest and Mark Housley of LaFollette, Mitchell Housley of Oak Dale, Matthew Housley of Jacksboro and Timothy Housley of Troy, OH; daughter, Kathy Posey of LaFollette; brothers, Bobby Joe Housley and Jim Housley both of OH, Tony Housley of TX; sisters, Azella McCullah of LaFollette. Yvonnia Morrell of Jacksboro, Estes Owens of Bristol; 15 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Oct. 3 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Don Whited officiating. Interment was in the Woodward Cemetery. Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Rebecca (Becky) Carolyn Goins Meade, age 54 passed away Oct. 3 in Greenbush, Maine. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton (Kink) and Margaret Ellison Goins; brothers, Charles Milton, Kenneth and Ronald Goins; sisters, Patsy Goins and Dallis Nelson. She is survived by her husband, Mark Meade of Maine; daughters, Jolanna Lowe of New Hampshire, Kathryn Meade of Maine; son, Russell Crum of Talbot; granddaughter, Kelly Rayne Crum of Talbot; brothers, Cecil and Danny Goins both of LaFollette; sisters, Ann Russell of LaFollette and Mary Nelson of Lenoir City; many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial service and internment was held at Woodlawn Cemetery on October 15. George "Press" Moses, age 81 of Jellico passed away Oct. 13 at the Jellico Community Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Annie Moses; sisters, Blanche Nuckles, Neva Colberg. He is survived by his wife, June Taylor, son, Randy Moses of Jellico; daughter and son in law, Angela and Jim Johnson; grandchildren, Katie Johnson and Brent Johnson of Jellico; sisters, Virginia Gratton of Cleveland, OH, Ruth Shelley of Williamsburg, KY, Beatrice Moses of Williamsburg, KY, Catherine Catron and husband, Ray of Warren, MI, Jean Cox and husband, Simon of Cleveland, OH, Carolyn Green of Goshen, OH; brothers, Thornt "Blackie" Moses and wife, Evelyn of Cleveland, OH, Doug Moses and wife, Diane of Cleveland, OH; sisters in law, Joyce Fowler of Crossville, Carol Taylor of Jellico, Cherry Asberry and husband, John of Jellico; brother in law, John Taylor of Kettering, OH; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Oct. 16 at the Harp Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lester Cox, Rev. Matt Stanley and Rev. Janus Jones officiating. Interment was in the Oaklawn Cemetery. Harp Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Conley Ruth Price, age 79, of LaFollette, passed away Oct. 8. She was born on March 23, 1926, to Charles and Rachel Babb in LaFollette. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Mt. Zion Church in LaFollette. She was active in Sunday school and church activities. She was educated at LaFollette Colored High School. She earned her diploma in 1941. She continued her education at Tennessee A and I University in Nashville. During her college years she participated in the drama club. She was the youngest of 10 children and spent much of her time on "the hill" with her siblings. Her father farmed so she helped care for the animals and tended the garden. Mama Rachel kept the girls close to home and outside activities were limited and on rare occasions. "Mother" as she was lovingly called, by both children and grandchildren, extended herself to each and every one of them. She was always there to provide a word; a smile, a touch or whatever was needed. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren. She happily passed on her most treasured childhood memories to them. She loved listening to Gospel music and caring for the grandchildren.She retired from Imperial Reading where she worked for over twenty years. She served as President of the Local Union. Everyone admired her and respected her leadership abilities. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Price; son, Anthony Cooke; daughter, Ardalia Oliphant; both parents, Charles and Rachel Babb as well as all of her siblings. She leaves to cherish her memory, two children; her loving daughter, Belinda Thomas of Nashville, loyal and dedicated son, Jeffrey Price of LaFollette; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her other dedicated, loving daughter, Delphine Houston of Knoxville; four special loving and caring nieces: Emma Andrews of Dayton, OH, Monecia Lytle of San Jose, CA, Marjorie Pittman of Cleveland, OH and Pauletta Washington of Verda, KY; two special nephews; Charles Babb of Lexington, KY and Edward Younge of Detroit, MI; three dedicated and loyal sisters-in-law, Joyce Booker, Ophelia Ingram and Jerry Wilson, all of Cleveland, OH. and a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews and friends who dearly loved her. Funeral services were held Oct. 14 at the Cross Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Darrly Washington, Rev. Larry Branson and Rev. Melvin Henry officiating. Interment was in the Sharp Cemetery.Cross Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Franklin D. Terry, age 60 of Roses Creek passed away Oct. 10 at his home. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Terry of Roses Creek; brother, Otis Levi Terry of LaFollette; sisters, Betsy Fox of LaFollette, Patsy Geraldine Baird of Stinking Creek; a host of friends. Funeral services were Oct. 13 at the Harp Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Bowman and Rev. Ray Woods officiating. Interment was in the Terry Cemetery.
