From the Knoxville News Sentinel 16 Oct 2005 ALLEN, BLENDA ELAINE - 57, of Oak Ridge, GARNER, RALPH HICKMAN - age 63 of Heiskell, TN LAWSON, THELMA TIDWELL - age 83, of Powell (formerly of Lake City), LONG, THOMAS WALTER - 48, of Oak Ridge, ALLEN, BLENDA ELAINE - 57, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, October 13, 2005 at her home. She was born June 26, 1948 in Middlesboro, KY and graduated from Karns High School in 1966. She was a charter member of Fairview Baptist Church and retired from the Methodist Medical Center where she was a Laboratory Technologist for 25 years. Ms. Allen was very artistic and greatly enjoyed arts and crafts of all kinds. She was preceded in death by sister, Judy Allen in 2004. She is survived by her beloved parents, Ralph H. and Dorothy Burke Allen; her cherished and loving son, Anthony L. Allen; her devoted pets, Spock Allen and Indy Allen; sister, Charlene Allen, all of Knoxville; aunts, Hazel Skaggs, Clara Ingram and her husband Ronnie, and Hester Fisher; uncle, Gilbert Allen; niece, Susan Allen and extended family member, Jill Cordell. She is much loved by her family, who will miss her dearly and was very dedicated to her family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2005 at 7:00 pm at Weatherford Mortuary with Rev. Milton Bolton and Dr. Glen Sullivan officiating. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the American Lung Association of Tennessee, One Vantage Way, Suite C-250, Nashville, TN 37228 or the Oak Ridge Humane Society, 1345 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Suite #366, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. GARNER, RALPH HICKMAN - age 63 of Heiskell, TN passed away Friday, October 14, 2005 at his residence. Ralph was of the Church Of God faith. Ralph was preceded in death by his father, Murk Garner; brothers, Kenneth, Dean, Robert & Deward Garner; sister, Charlene Reagan. Survivors: sons: Von Ray Garner of Knoxville, Shannon Garner of Knoxville; daughter: Kimberly & Tommy Eubanks of Knoxville; mother: Mable Garner of Powell; brothers: Anderson & Nancy Garner of Claxton, Virgil Garner of Indiana, Glen Garner of Clinton, Arnold & Polly Garner of Strawberry Plains, Ricky Garner of Seymour, TN; sisters: Kathy & Roy Shelton of Powell, Linda & Woody Lawson of Knoxville, Janice Dockery of Knoxville, Darlene & Billy Swopshire of Clinton; 7 grandchildren, and a host of other relatives & friends. Family will receive friends Sunday, October 16th; from 6-8 pm. Funeral service will follow at 8 pm in chapel of Jones Mortuary of Clinton, TN with the Rev. Dave Hickson officiating. Interment will be Monday, October 17th, at 2 pm at Farmers Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Clinton, TN. Jones Mortuary in Clinton, TN is in charge of all arrangements. LAWSON, THELMA TIDWELL - age 83, of Powell (formerly of Lake City), passed away Friday, October 14, 2005 at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was a member of Longfield Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by husband, John Lawson; parents, Henry and Laura Tidwell; brother, Clarence Tidwell. Survivors: daughters, Linda & husband Jerry Disney of Powell, Kathy & husband Phil Jones of Powell; grandchildren, Dwight Disney, Gina Hunt, Clint Jones, Sarah Fern, Aaron Jones, Laura Johnson, and Daniel Jones; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Clyde Tidwell & wife Floy of Alcoa; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 1:00-3:00 PM, Sunday, October 16, 2005 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in the chapel with Rev. Phil Jones officiating. Her burial will be 10:00 AM, Monday at Oak Grove Cemetery. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. LONG, THOMAS WALTER - 48, of Oak Ridge, died Friday, October 14, 2005 at his home. He was born November 12, 1956 in Oak Ridge and graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1975. Mr. Long was a member of First Baptist Church. He enjoyed working as a landscaper, as well as working with ceramics at the Ceramic Korner. Several years ago, he owned the Taco Maker restaurant at the old Oak Ridge Bowling Lanes. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking. Mr. Long was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Laws Long, Jr. He is survived by: mother, Wilma Long of Oak Ridge; son, Zachary Thomas Long of Atlanta, GA; brothers, Donald Long of Oak Ridge and James Long and wife Jerol , all of Oak Ridge; sister, Rebecca Libby and husband Wayne of Oak Ridge; nieces and nephews, Hannah Long, Emily Long, Jacob Long and Stephanie Libby, all of Oak Ridge; special friends, Janice Combs of Oak Ridge, Connie Worrel of Atlanta and Willene Rae of Hawaii and numerous friends at the Ceramic Korner. Funeral services are Monday, October 17, 2005 at 8:00 pm at Weatherford Mortuary. Graveside services are Tuesday at 2:00 pm at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
