    2. From The Oak Ridger 15 Sep 2005 Doris Binford, 88, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Oak Ridge, Janie Britt Deering, 56, of Oak Ridge, William 'Bill' Wesley Hanna, 72, a resident of St. Louis, Mo. Dorothy Lucille Pride, 92, of Oliver Springs, Doris Binford, 88, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005. Doris was born March 30, 1917, in Pennsylvania. She attended Penn State University, where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, and graduated with a degree in economics in 1939. She later met and married her adoring husband, Frank. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Oak Ridge where they remained happily married for 39 years. Doris was known for her love of dancing, golf and bridge, and, her family says, was talented at all three. She spent the last few years of her life in Orlando, Fla., where she could be close to her daughter, Amanda Thomas, and grandchildren, Robyn and Ben Thomas. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 212 N. Tulane Ave. in Oak Ridge. Her burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.1 Janie Britt Deering, 56, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, of injuries received in an automobile accident. She was born June 1, 1949, in Indiana, the daughter of Eugene and Letha Stuart Britt, who are both deceased. Mrs. Deering was a homemaker and a member of the Knoxville First Seventh Day Adventist Church. She and her husband, Rudy D. Deering, by whom she is survived, served as foster care parents for many years. Mrs. Deering had also worked as a volunteer children's advocate with CASA of Anderson County for several years. Mrs. Deering and her husband would have celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on Sept. 15. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Jay Britt and wife, Wanda, of Cosby; stepsons, Scott Deering and wife, Kim, of Lenoir City and Todd Deering and wife, Amy, of Knoxville; aunts, Ella Kate Harrell and husband, Wayne, of Jefferson City, and Hazel Stiffler of Newport; four grandchildren, Kayla, Jacob, Stephanie and Jay Britt of Cosby, and three stepgrandchildren, Nick Leahey of Lenoir City, and Otto and Phoebe Deering of Knoxville. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at the Knoxville First Seventh Day Adventist Church, 3611 Kingston Pike in Knoxville, with the Rev. Will Johns officiating. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to CASA of the Tennessee Heartland, PO Box 4426, Oak Ridge, TN 37831-4426. Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. William 'Bill' Wesley Hanna, 72, a resident of St. Louis, Mo., since 1967, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005, after a nine-month long battle with lung cancer. Bill was born July 9, 1933, in Stockton, Calif., and was the last of four children born to William Wesley Walls, a native of Coalfield, and Anna Bales Walls. In 1950, Bill married Marilyn Howard and they had two children, Pamela Sue and William Michael. Bill joined the army at the age of 16 and worked as a stevedore while stationed in Korea and Alaska. Upon leaving the service, he worked underground in a Grass Valley, Calif., gold mine and before retirement, he had been working as a bartender for Holiday Inn. His wife, Betty Smith Hanna, his parents, his stepfather, Robert Hanna, his sisters, Josephine Wooten Langston and Melba Jobe Wilson, and his brother, Herbert "Bud" Walls, preceded him in death. He is survived by a half sister, Kyle Walls Luna of Knoxville, and numerous nieces and nephews. Inurnment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis will be under direction of Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary. No service is planned. Dorothy Lucille Pride, 92, of Oliver Springs, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
