    2. From The Oak Ridger 22 Sep 2005 Doris Ann Goins Ketner, 64, of Clinton, Mary Ruth Cunningham Dyer, 80, of Weston, W.Va. Jennifer Wheat Norstedt, 43, of Oak Ridge, Doris Ann Goins Ketner, 64, of Clinton, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at St. Mary's Residential Hospice in Knoxville. She was born Oct. 25, 1940, and raised in Clinton. Mrs. Ketner graduated from Berea College in Berea, Ky., in 1962, with a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics, and later received a master's degree from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville. She taught in the Anderson County School System from 1962 to 1998. She ended her teaching career at Clinton High School, teaching geometry and computer languages. Doris belonged to many professional organizations, taught as an adjunct facility member at East Tennessee State University and Pellissippi State Technical Community College, wrote an instruction manual for Oak Ridge Associated Universities, and did numerous workshops for teachers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lowell V. and Zora Shepard Goins. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Clarence "Bud" R. Ketner Jr.; son, Wesley B. Ketner of Oak Ridge; sister, Demaris Holt and her husband Sonny of Macon, Ga.; and by a brother Lowell V. Goins of Mountain Home, Idaho, and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. Mary Ruth Cunningham Dyer, 80, of Weston, W.Va., passed away early in the morning on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, from complications of recently diagnosed cancer, in the palliative care unit at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. Ruth was born Aug. 27, 1925, in Ireland, W.Va., one of seven daughters and three sons of Charles Letch and Myrtle Francis (Shively) Cunningham. Ruth graduated with an A average from Buckhannon-Upsher High School. She moved to Oak Ridge in 1943, to work as an administrative assistant in the Manhattan Project. She there met her future husband, married him at the Chapel-on-the-Hill, built a home, and raised three children. She was active in school and church activities, Cub Scouts, and various bridge clubs, and enjoyed family camping trips, entertaining friends, and family gatherings at the holidays. While living in Oak Ridge she worked for The Oak Ridger from 1975-1978, and for the East Tennessee Health Improvement Council in Knoxville from 1978-1979. She prized her independent lifestyle after being divorced in 1977. She moved to Ft. Myers, Fla., in 1979, where she worked as an office manager and clerk/typist for the State of Florida Health and Rehabilitative Services District Office. She returned to Buckhannon, W.Va., in 1983 and worked for the Agency on Aging until her retirement in 1995. In her retirement years, she resided at Arbor Towers in Weston, W.Va., and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed and is survived by her three sons, Lawrence A. Dyer and his wife Lucia of Snellville, Ga., Richard D. Dyer and wife Diana of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Dean P. Dyer and wife Linda of Oak Ridge; one sister, Janis McAbee of Weston, W.Va.; her good friends, Marjorie Heckert of Buckhannon, W.Va., and Ann Freshour of Weston, W.Va.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her former husband, Robert H. Dyer of Harriman. As Ruth donated her body to WVU Medical School, no formal funeral services are planned. A memorial service to celebrate her life and love, which are now beyond the constraints of time, space or her ailing body, is planned for Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at 7 p.m. at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Oak Ridge. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations for Hurricane Katrina relief be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 366, Clarksburg, WV 26302-0366. Jennifer Wheat Norstedt, 43, of Oak Ridge, went home to be with her Savior, Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at her home. She was born Aug. 21, 1962, in Reform, Ala., the daughter of Bascom and Bessie Wheat, who are both deceased. Jennifer and her husband Mark, moved to Oak Ridge eight years ago when Mark took a job as the administrator for Parkway Cardiology Associates. Jennifer was a homemaker and enjoyed meeting people and making friends, decorating, helping with charities and spending time with her family. She was instrumental in the Kosovo refugee placement program and very active in the fundraisers for the tsunami relief efforts. She also served as a volunteer with ADFAC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Billie Frances Gilliland. She is survived by her husband, Mark Alan Norstedt, with whom she would have celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on Oct. 26, 2005. She was the loving mother of 5-year-old Ashley Anna and 2-year-old Emily Caughran. Jennifer is also survived by brothers, Jamie Ash and wife Darlene of Bellamy, Ala., and David and Patsy Ash of Opp, Ala.; mother and father-in-law, Dr. Axel and Ruby Norstedt of Mobile, Ala.; brothers-in-law, Chuck Gilliland of Butler, Ala., and Dr. David Norstedt and wife Donna of Mobile, Ala.; and sister-in-law, Beth Miller and husband Charles of Chattanooga. The funeral service is Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Robert Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family requests that memorials be in the form of contributions to the Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund or the American Cancer Society, c/o Jerri Melhorn-Amonett, 104 Antioch Drive, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
