    2. From the Oak Ridger 13 Sep 2005 William "Bill" Wesley Hanna, 72, of St. Louis, Mo. Thomas "Frank" Rider, 69, of Glen, Miss., formerly of Oak Ridge, William "Bill" Wesley Hanna, 72, of St. Louis, Mo. since 1967, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005, after a nine-month long battle with lung cancer. Bill was born July 9, 1933, in Stockton, Calif., and was the last of four children born to William Wesley Walls, a native of Coalfield, and Anna Bales Walls. Bill joined the Army at the age of 16 and worked as a stevedore while stationed in Korea and Alaska. Upon leaving the service, he worked underground in a Grass Valley, Calif., gold mine, and before retirement, he had been working as a bartender for Holiday Inn. In 1950, Bill married Marilyn Howard and they had two children, Pamela Sue and William Michael. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Smith Hanna; his stepfather, Robert Hanna; his sisters, Josephine Wooten Langston and Melba Jobe Wilson; and his brother, Herbert "Bud" Walls. He is survived by a stepsister, Kyle Walls Luna of Knoxville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. No service is planned. Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary in St. Louis, Mo., is in charge of arrangements. Thomas "Frank" Rider, 69, of Glen, Miss., formerly of Oak Ridge, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2005, at his residence. He was born Sept. 16, 1935, in Pickens County, Ga., and grew up in Oak Ridge, where he lived until 1995, when he relocated to Glen, Miss. He was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army as a radar specialist and the National Guard in the 1960s in the Armored Forces Division. He was retired as a staff engineer from Lockheed Martin Energy Systems at the Y-12 and K-25 Plants in Oak Ridge. He was an avid horse lover, and especially liked Appaloosas. He was a member of the East Tennessee Riding Club before he moved to Mississippi. He was a friend to all animals in general. Mr. Rider was a member of Central Baptist Church in Oak Ridge. Mr. Rider was preceded in death by his mother, Georgia Jewel Compton Rider, and his father, William Chatman Rider. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara Jo Wigginton Rider of Glen, Miss.; his son, Allen Chatman Rider and wife, Helen, of Glen, Miss.; his brothers, John Williams Rider and wife, Faye, of Mikesville, Va., and Harold Emmitt Rider and wife, Susan, of Knoxville; and by one niece and three nephews. The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at the McPeters Inc. Funeral Directors Chapel in Corinth, Miss., with the Rev. Ron Plymel officiating. The burial was at Liberty Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Corinth/Alcorn County Animal Shelter, 3825 Proper Street, Corinth, MS 38834. McPeters Inc.
